I have been at Children of the Rainbow for 23 years. I have worked under three supervisors, which I can only say, I would not want to work under anyone else. I have learned from them all. I have worked with the toddlers, and I enjoy my job. The owner have given me the opportunity to show how I can be an important asset to her company through my experience and longetivity with Children of the Rainbow. My Supervisor Patty has stepped in classrooms when teachers have called out, and have done an excellent job. So for the negativity that has been posted about our school, is not true. Our parents are satisfied with our program, and I hope they will continue to keep their children enrolled.

I don't normally write reviews but remembering how difficult and important it was for me to find the right school for my boys, I want to help others by providing enough insight to help you make the right decision for your child....I want to start by saying that my boys adored Children of the Rainbow (COTR) on Beardsley St.. Till this day they want to stop by and say hello to the staff and any friends that are still attending. I toured about 5 different establishments before selecting COTR as their school. I didn't want a place that was just a daycare, I wanted my boys to have a well rounded, educational experience and they received just that. What first stood out about COTR was the cultural diversity, not just in the staff and students but in the programming as well. During their Open House they had African American dance performers, yummy lumpia and pancit for guests and Spanish language interpreters, if needed. The classrooms have floor to ceiling windows which allow a lot of natural light in vs dark rooms that I saw at other schools. When they can't go outside due to a rainy day, they can still feel like they are outside! There are only three classrooms which means my boys would not get lost in the crowd. The daily breakfast and lunch menus were impressive. I always joked that my boys seemed to have nicer meals prepared for them than I had for myself. The chefs prepared fresh meals, keeping track and adjusting to what the kids responded well to. My boys attended during diaper and potty training phases. It was comforting to know that the staff would work with me to help with the transition, supporting whatever methods we were doing at home by emulating that in the school environment as best they could. I also wanted to add that most of the other facilities I toured had a "cleaning" day or something of the sort where one would need to keep the kids home. We are a dual working family so I'm not quite sure what those places expect parents to do, take a day off I guess? That is not always possible for parents and we don't all have someone else to leave our children with. Many schools also had an extra fine for arriving late. At COTR you either pay for less that 30hrs or more than 30hrs. It was a relief to know that if I was ever running late, as it can happen to anyone, I wouldn't be penalized for it.Staff, of course is one of the most important factors in selecting a school. Shout outs to Ms. Rosie and Ms. Kelsey who were my boys' teachers while they were there. They are very creative, dedicated and loving. There was a time that I had a concern about a new staff member in regards to her tone. The director had an open door policy and was always quick to address ANY concerns. We miss Rainbow school and hope your children enjoy it as much as mine did. No school is perfect but Children of the Rainbow comes pretty close to it.

Sadly I stopped by this morning and right away it was bad news. I was getting helped by this young nice African American lady at the front desk once I heard yelling coming from the back. It was this short Asian lady with glasses talking to her in a very disrespectful manner and in-front of my face and MY KIDS !!! Don't even get me started as well , she was being very disrespectful to this worker from instacart as well. No one should work in a industry in that form. Kids from the school also could hear her yells and even saw it from themselves as well.

Children of the Rainbow has been apart of my family for the last 10-11 years. Before I had a child I was already aware of the environment and the family like atmosphere the child care center had. When I had my son I had no doubt that it was the school eh would attend, My son is 2 years old, almost 3 and has been attending since he was 1. I most recently changed his location from Logan to Beardsley and I have no complaints ! Both sites have always kept me updated with my sons progress, behavior and learning ! My son talks in full sentences, is potty trained, can ride a bike, skate, etc !! He shows me everyday how much his school has an influence on his learning and him !! The teachers do everything possible to comfort my son for morning drop off's in the afternoon he is smiling and happy and sometimes not so ready to go home ! I instill school activities at home as well, so that my child knows that education is always first. I appreciate all of the staff at both locations for not only doing there job but for loving my son, making his transition smooth and easy and showing him the love and comfort while his mommy is at work !!

My child has gone here for just a couple months and when he went he was barely speaking, they brought a specialist in that does speech screening & my child happened to need help! I was provided all the necessary resources and now my child is in slow hands therapy and talking so much now! I love the school , and the teachers they work with your child, even if some have issues they need to work on they will hire a teacher specifically for that child so your child is still receiving the proper attention and care. They are now currently working on safety which is a huge and important thing for our children to learn at this age. They have hired security guards to stand by gates so your child is secured and safe & also nobody can just walk in due to the front door always being locked and must be buzzed in which I love. They have cameras everywhere in the event something needs to be seen it is! I love this school and thank you for taking care of my child

I’m writing this so all the parents can be fully aware .On Friday March 8, 2019 . Children of the rainbow LOST my daughter they were NOT paying attention and as she and another child were playing on the playground she went out a UNALARMED DOOR UNNOTICED AS THE CHILD WHO Was playing with my daughter went to notify the teachers they shoed him away not once but 3 times . !!!!!! All of this is on video and MY newly 2 year old daughter was outside the gate god knows where as some random stranger returned my daughter after 5 mins of screaming at the gate to get the teachers attention they finally opened the gate and then noticed my poor daughter was missing .and to top it All of this off , this happened at 9:40 am according to the director, but they DID NOT NOTIFY ME UNTIL 430 pm when I was almost to the school to pick up my children .after I called licensing to notify them of the situation they then informed me this was the second time this has happened in a YEAR of being open . The school also blamed the door saying they did not know the door didn’t have an alarm both times they have used the same excuse. THE TWO TEACHERS WHOM LOST MY DAUGHTER ARE STILL CURRENTLY EMPLOYED. Thru out this entire week I have been back and fourth At the school trying to get them to enforce the safety for the children ,not only my children but any child who goes there. They have said they have hired a security guard so I drive-by at different times during the day to see if this is accurate and of course it isn’t. They said they fixed the gate but unfortunately I just can’t trust that. So after consistently bugging them for entire week trying to get them to do the right thing they have now terminated my services with them . I am more than OK with terminate my services with this school because I am not comfortable with my children being there in the first place it is not fair for any parent to be at work working to us provide an inconsistently worrying about their children if they are still at school or not when they should be in perfectly good hands having to call every hour is not a good feeling. So I’m writing this review to let everybody know this is a very serious issue and they are taking it so lightly nobody who works for the school Is doing anything about it including the owner !!! If the safety of children isn’t their concern what is ? I know the director and the owner herself are trying to cover their butt by saying many things about the incident but there is only so much you lie about . When videos are proof if anyone would like to see the videos pls contact me I’d gladly share them with you . I would never trash mouth anyone but this is beyond this is something serious and if it was me looking for a new school I’d like to know . Unfortunately this school has only been open for a year now and this is the second time they have LOST A CHILD . Don’t believe me call licensing they by law have to tell you .
