Go in and say hello to Paul Tice. This book store holds the knowledge you are seeking to the questions that cannot be answered in the mainstream paradigm.

Book Tree has books that can't be found in other book stores. Book Tree is always getting in old books some that are two or three hundred years old. I love reading about days gone by and how the people coped with having much less than we have access to in today's world.

I’ve seen Book Tree many times while in the area, and I finally stopped by today. It was such a GEM. The shopkeeper, Paul, was very kind and we had a great conversation. He said he’s been with the store since it’s opening in 2005. There were a ton of books, mainly spiritual, religious, self-help, philosophy and psychology books- some new at full price and some used at half off or more. I scored with a Thich Nhat Hanh book I’ve been really wanting and one about the Peace Pilgrim that is hard to come by these days. It’s a bit packed in there with all the books, but I think that adds to the charm. I recommend stopping by if you’re in the area to support a local bookstore! Will definitely be back soon :)

A great selection of titles from a wide variety of genres. There are books that are hard to find here. Love coming in to this little book nook.

Finally made it to this wonderful book store . Huge and varied selection of books . I love the feel and smell of small independent bookstores . Lots of rare gems here . There is also a nice selection of books for only a dollar . They also have incense and candles . Love the decor and the owner was super polite and helpful . Also there is a tarot reader if you want a reading too how can you beat that :) . I could spend all day here just looking at all the books . I will be spending lots of time and pay checks here . Support local :)

This is a mystical place indeed. Before I looked up their hours, I was convinced it was out of business because it always seemed closed whenever I walked by. Magically, it was open today (or rather it happened to be a Wednesday) and I popped in. I've never seen so many sections at a used bookstore that I actually cared about! I saw sections on spirituality, vegetarian cookbooks, multiple shelves dedicated to the Goddess, and many other metaphysical-related reads. Good prices too, they have a whole outdoor section for $1 reads. I went with this book on the Gaia theory for $6. Person working was very friendly, too. Looking forward to my next trip here.

Just visited for the first time and can't wait to go back. It's like stepping back in time and into the future all at once. They carry books you'd never find in a chain bookstore, you could spend hours browsing the shelves.

This place is a hidden treasure to San Diego and Is one of the few places I have to try to avoid staying out of because I can honestly spend all day in there if I let myself, the owner has invested so many year and hard work into this shop and is a very respectable and down to earth man. There are many books that he has taken the time to duplicate and make copies of himself to keep the stories alive that might not have had a chance to survive anymore. This store is known for its broad range of anything controversial, mystical, mysterious, paranormal, religious, spiritual, and the list goes on. I would most definitely encourage anyone, skeptic, to fill on believers of any kind to check this place out if you ever want to come across something new and exciting! 10/10

As far as books go, this place is a mecca for anyone into metaphysics, philosophy, and psychology. Prior to actually walking in they have heavily discounted and free books on display outside. Then the second you walk in it's like Bam! all sorts of amazingness. I literally spent 4+ hours in there last week and still did not make my way through the entire store (that's on this weeks agenda :) The owner(?)/staff was super friendly too and they even have deals where if you buy 4 the 5th one is free! This place is definitely dangerous with all its titles and rarities. It definitely reminds me of a "meme" (of sorts) I once saw that still cracks me up:"I'm a bookaholic on the road to recovery.Just kidding.I'm on the road to the bookstore!"(or in my case, the Book Tree!) Ha

This is the type of place for people who have time to sit down and read. It's not for the person who has five minutes on a lunch hour to find the latest Nora Roberts sudser. The three floors are filled to the brim, although the Poetry Room on the third floor is spacious enough to relax when they aren't having an author speaking, of course. I love the mindset that would devote so much real estate to poetry and the Beat Generation.

This bookstore has a great section of postcards. They are a bit pricey but are also very different than the standard SD tourist postcards you find elsewhere. They are spread all over the store across multiple floors so you have to explore a little to view them all. But, that is fun endeavor as the atmosphere of the bookstore is very charming.

Always on our "must visit" list when we are in San Diego, CA,. Curated bookstore filled with history, as well as books, and always intellectually stimulating.
