I advised several representatives I was not interested in authorizing the tests if there would be any out-of-pocket cost. They proceeded with the test and filed with BCBS of Texas. They received a payment of $1882.48. They adjusted the $5400 bill by $1907.95. They billed me $1609.57. I have initiated a consumer complaint with the Attorney General's Office for my state. I have submitted a BBB complaint but they aren't accredited. I did read that they settled with the DOJ in NY for 2 million. Run!!!!

I love the Breast Cancer Index test! I took this test and it gave me so much peace of mind, it also helped me to understand my risk of recurrence and helped me to know whether I would benefit from an additional 5 years of anti-estrogen therapy. Knowledge is power and tests like Breast Cancer Index help survivors like me be empowered.

I found the Breast Cancer Index test by Biotheranostics and it 100% changed my life for the better. I am a 2X breast cancer survivor and the side effects from the post treatment medication were debilitating. I had been on Aromatase Inhibitor meds for 5 years and my oncologist's plan was to do 5 more years, despite the awful problems I was experiencing - joint pain, insomnia, weight gain and more. Then I took the BCI test and the results allowed me to cease taking the AI medication with confidence in knowing that I have a very small percentage of recurrence. Every person who assisted me at Biotheranostics was professional and incredibly helpful. I am so incredibly thankful for the Breast Cancer Index Test by Biotheranostics.

Had this scam played on me TWICE! I called after receiving a bill for over $4,000 dollars and was told the company NEVER attempts to collect from patients. They do. I was told the test said I should stay on the medication I was on. My oncologist, 1 month later, told me I could safely stop taking it. What a complete waste of time and money. Oncologists should STOP using this test. At least without telling patients up front it costs over $5,000 that you may be responsible for the cost and is basically useless.

In response to BioTs reply below. There's a reason you have only 1.6 stars and it's NOT people's "feelings". Original review - Unless you really need this test, I'd pass. Retail cost of the BCI test is $5400. The company reps do not take the time to explain the process upfront. BE AWARE the tissue samples get sent before you even know if insurance will cover it and NO one tells you this. NO one told me this until today! So if you're worried about finances, costs or coping emotionally with the results be aware of this. I was hesitant - I own that part - but several delays were NOT due to me and I would have been a LOT LESS hesitant if I had been carefully and KINDLY informed of important information - like how long a sample can be held that I didn't know they had!! What kind of contact is made with my insurance company so and so forth. Further, the person I was dealing with would use vague terms like "them" and I had to ask "who is them"? She didn't take time to explain things and I was always very polite and apologized for my part of the delays. She sounded angry and wanted to make sure I understood that me hitting the end of the deadline I did **not know about until last week** was ALL my fault. Well she sure convinced me of one thing, this is not a company I want to deal with unless it is really necessary. Very callous people. So fellow cancer patients, just be aware and be prepared mentally, emotionally and financially, these folks play hard ball.

Lied to by biotheranostics regarding out of pocket costs for fiance's testing. They sent our BCBS insurance a bill for $5400, insurance allowed only $315. Then they \"adjusted\" the bill by $4785 and continue to bill us for $300. This despite their assurances that there would be no out of pocket cost. San Diego BBB rating of \"F\" - big surprise. Company recently settled with the DOJ for more than two million dollars for fraudulently billing medicare for these tests. This company exists solely to make money any way possible, including lying to cancer stricken women who are desperate to figure out if their cancer will return.

I give them zero stars. I paid for this very expensive Breast Cancer Index test of my breast tissue to see if I needed to stay on medication or not. I paid out of pocket since they would charge me less than if it went through insurance. My test results? There are no test results!!! I was told there was not a sufficient amount of my breast tissue for them to get any results, but they still kept my money!!!!!!!

My oncologist recommended a helpful but expensive Biotheranostics test to inform our medication strategy for my breast cancer. Biotheranostics sent me a letter indicating that the test may not be covered by insurance, and asked me to sign a letter authorizing them to represent me in negotiating coverage with the insurance company. This struck me as a conflict of interest. I'm glad I had the test but was extremely uncomfortable with the billing practices.

Shockingly aggressive! They went ahead and ordered the test for me even though I never authorized it. It's extremely expensive. They never provided me with any insurance codes so that I could check my coverage. Too bad they are the only people who can do the test!!!

These guys will tell you one thing before you have the procedure done and then will charge you a lot more after the procedure is done. They had all of our insurance information which they used to confirm our insurance coverage and the amount the insurance company was going to pay them for their services. Based on that information, one of their employees called us and told us that since we had already met our annual deductibles, there won't be any out of pocket costs for our testing service. After the test had been done, they sent us a bill for $405 even though they had previously told us that they will accept whatever the insurance company will reimburse and we would not be required to pay any thing. Spoke to their employees several times about the discrepancy and they were very unprofessional and totally lied about what they had told us previously. If you have the misfortune to deal with these people, get everything in writing. Don't trust what they tell you over the phone and as they will do a "bail and switch" on you afterwards.
