First time customer and was fully impressed by the professionalism of Allman Family Auto. Never over promised a thing, and Rusty was in constant communication with me on the status of my vehicle. Thank you again AFA.

Rusty did a fantastic overall job. He was very responsive outright, kept me updated throughout the process through phone calls, text message, and email. He was very transparent and fair with pricing and was very kind to give me a 10% off first time customer discount. He didn't oversell me on anything and gave honest recommendations. Very professional and nice to talk to. Will def come back.

Rusty is always very helpful and kind each time I've interacted with him. Mike has gone over with me in detail what he will be looking at and why and always gets the job done right.Ive had 2 oil changes, a battery replaced and a full transmission replacement done here. Not only was the job done quickly and for a good price it was also done with care. You can tell everyone who works here puts a lot of thought and care into what they do and that's why I prefer doing business here more than anywhere else. Thank you Rusty and Mike!

Simply, go here. I had my first experience with this shop yesterday. I will just start with I am a female that basically knows nothing about cars. I always go places and know when I am being scammed or when people are trying g to push unnecessary things upon me. I thought I needed alignment and was concerned about my brakes simply because my car is a 2018 and I have never had my brakes serviced. I dropped by car off and voiced my concerns with Rusty. Oh. My. Goodness. I can't say enough about Rusty. He is kind. He is thorough. He made me feel comfortable and like he truly was looking out for me. I dropped my car off and waited for the call to hear what I needed to do for my car. After about 3 hours the call came and I was SHOCKED. Rusty went through everything with me and addressed all my concerns. At the end of the call he told me their recommendation was to do NOTHING. To not keep ranting on, I dropped my car off and had no derives because in their perspective it wasn't warranted. He did offer to do the what i initially asked if I wanted, but did if it was his car he wouldn't t do it. It made me feel really comfortable and I was blown away by the honesty and the service. My only regret is that I have live in San Diego for almost 9 years and I am now only discovering this place. They have earned a loyalcustomer in me and I will be goi g here from now on for all my general maintenance and car needs because they proved to me they are trust worthy and won't try to scam me simply because I am a female or not well versed in cars. Thank you so much for a lovely experience and for having true customer service.

I called around 8 AM on a Friday, to inquire about a service. The following was exactly what happened. And attached is a screenshot of the call history to show that I did, indeed, reach out to this business. By the way, that screenshot would be necessary because I'd originally posted a different version of this review with more colorful language (certainly appropriate if someone was attempting to charge me 3X, failing to be competent/coherent per job requirement, AND cut me off mid-sentence). After my original review, the business promptly replied within a few minutes with: 1) denial that it was them, 2) accusation that I'd misidentified which place I'd called, and 3) implicating another business of committing the issues. Then, they successfully begged Yelp, which removed my original wittingly-toned posting (which definitely wouldn't make people curious how this place got barely any negative reviews, right, right?). So, if you badly want to read my original review, in all of its glory, search for this business on Google Maps.Anyhow, this all started with someone picking up after a few rings:E = shop employee; M = me."E: Good morning. (First opportunity to ask me to hold)M: Hello?E: Yes, hello. (Second opportunity to ask me to hold)M: Hey, I have a *Year *Make *Model that needs a replacement oil pan, can you... (I am cut off)E: Can you hold for a few minutes?"I waited about 5 minutes. The employee returned to me on the phone."M: (I restate the vehicle details and problem)E: What are the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th digits of your VIN?M: (I read off those digits)E: No, it should start with the letter 'E' and then three numbers. (Which are actually the 5th digit and three following)M: (I read those)"The employee looked up my vehicle and repair requested."E: I have the information.M: Can you tell me the estimated cost?E: We can certainly get you appointment and do that repair here. Do you want to set one up?M: A quote! I'm asking about a quote!E: It's going to be $$$."They ended up quoting 3X over another similarly-rated shop that I contacted right after. Wow! Even with their "10% discount," it'd still be 2.7 times more. I kind of laughed out loud, but RESPECTFULLY not to the employee on the phone.Anyhow, I informed the employee they'd lost a customer and reason why, then PROPERLY hung up.

It's nice to be able to work with a business you trust for your auto repair. I like the work they do and their customer service. Only reason for not 5 stars is I can never tell if the price is good but it might be, I just don't have a good point of comparison.

I am truly blown away by the stellar customer service I received at Allman's. I called on a Thursday about an oxygen sensor/check engine light, and they conveniently allowed me to drop it off Monday morning before a trip I had planned. From the first stressed phone call I made to the "green light" phone call I received, I was treated with such respect and care. As a woman, I'm always very cautious of auto shops, but Rusty took great care of my mustang and settling my nerves. He checked in often with me about how the service was going, and he even accomodated my last minute request for an oil change before I picked it up. This auto shop clearly understands the importance of customer service. I believe the value of service and turn around time was more than adequate to the price I paid. I will certainly come back and recommend to my family and friends.

These guys are great. They really under promise and over-deliver. I don't live in the area and hate to use a new mechanic without a referral from someone I know. My car started running hot in the heat wave and I was concerned about making the 1,000-mile drive back to Oregon. Turns out I had radiator, thermostat, and fan problems. I found Allman Family Auto after checking Yelp and Google reviews and chose to use them because they come up with 5 stars on both. I now know why and I'm very glad I made the choice to use them. Great service and attention from both Mike and Rusty. If you need service in the SDSU college area of San Diego, this is the only place you should call. I would definitely use them again! Thanks, guys.Services: Auto water leak repair

after the dealership told me I needed new shocks, and it was a ridiculous amount of money, I looked for another shop and found Allman Family auto repair. I called and talked to Rusty. He told me it's common for shock absorbers to weep a bit, but they may still be good. I scheduled my next oil change with Rusty. They found that My shocks were weeping a bit but didn't need replacement. Allman Family technicians recommended new brake pads and rotors ... which I was expecting since front brakes were starting to squeak on occasion. They are upfront and honest and don't offer to fix things that don't need fixing... just those that do. I can have maintenance and repairs done to my fj cruiser anywhere I choose. I choose Allman Family in La Mesa.

Just bought a vehicle from Mike Allman. He was straight forward about everything, no haggling, no trying to sell me other things i dont need, and the work he does on his vehicles is top notch. This is an honest spot to check out if youre searching for a good vehicle to buy or fix up.

Allman Family Auto is run by standup people. Mike and Rusty are excellent. They stand by their work. They own their work. They are to the point, don't upsell things you don't need, communicate and will explain things to you, and keep your vehicle running. I was taking my car to a different shop for maintenance for convenience, but they started trying to upsell and convince me to replace not only worn components but the entire assembly because "its the standard" even though I know it is not. Allman Family Auto completed the job the right way and for a fair price, and have given timely, legitimate recommendations for maintenance. Don't see myself going elsewhere for my maintenance, and recommend you give them a try.
