Wasn't impressed. In downtown with a high homeless population, they have locked up many items to prevent shoplifting. While I was picking up a prescription from the pharmacy, I wanted underarm deodorant, locked up. No attendant, understaffed. I had mentioned to the self checkout monitor that I like to get deodorant. I'll be right there... nope not waiting. Went to Vons grocery store (Still part of the Kroger chain. This Store should switch to pre-order sales and in-garage pickups. Management should look into humanitarian prevention loss. Provide homeless with travel size essentials mitigating shoplifting. That is if they can take the tax deduction. Or just loose sales locking up products with no staff to help customers. I won't be back unless I'm picking a prescription from my dentist is next-door.

Yeahhhh it's a bit pricey but what you gonna do ? Not eat? And so I typically head here for items I typically don't use a lot of - popcorn, parchment paper, toothpicks etc - mad random stuff. Because it's easier to find here than at a grocery outlet or local store. The other items in store don't always look so fresh, are pricey compared to other spots, or are full of a ton of extra stuff my body doesn't need. I'm not terribly health conscious but some of the additives even drives me away. Well organized spot however. Not too hard to find what you're looking for. Well lit. I always miss the parking lot. It always just sneaks up on me. Wished it was better marked. The clearance rack always has one or two interesting things on it which catches my attention. I've gotten a lot of plant based products from it for half off which is music to my ears and wallet since being kind to our earth don't come cheap. The times to avoid I would say is the right after work time and of course last minute shopping before holidays. Otherwise it's never too busy. Customer service is just nice enough but doesn't make a huge impact or difference on the experience. I feel like a 3 star for a chain grocery store is pretty good and about right.

No one f'n cares that works here. Literally, they don't care about you or taking care of anyone. It's the worst, especially during game days. Here i am, for this instance of how no one cares at this store... been standing at the customer service desk for 10 minutes. Manager, other employees walk by. Don't ask if i need help, don't page someone to go to the customer service desk to help. Wtf, y'all don't do good at all Another thing t that sucks here from past experience, no one knows where anything is n the store. They don't even have a computer to look up items they said. Stupid

This place has a bad rep! Nothing the employees can do about the homeless situation! That's something the state of California and the city of San Diego has to handle! I wouldn't want to risk my life against homeless people in order to avoid them from stealing shopping carts! The employees are vast from great and don't get recognition they deserve! I remember one employee a female very nice and kind at the checkout stand! Really makes your day speaking to her I believe her name was Anastasia! I think Albertsons needs to hire more employees like her! And definitely give her a raise for excellent service!!!

Service is really profoundly bad. Just 2 checkers on a Saturday evening and literally 100 people in line. Plus, all self checkout kiosks down. They don't seem to care about their customers.

Went at 10p to grab a few items while on vacation. Big mistake, this turned out to be the crackhead shopping hour. Also, when I got home, I saw that the tortillas I bought were GREEN WITH MOLD.

Because of the large homeless population sleeping right outside the front door, the garage that reeks of urine, and all the pets allowed in the store that I've witnessed reliving themselves in the aisles, I stopped shopping here for groceries about a year ago, but I would still stop by for non-food items since I'm so close. Today I saw something that turned me off of shopping there completely. The lady stocking the produce had all the vegetables sitting on the floor; bare lettuce and peppers sitting right on the rug by her feet. On the same rug I've seen dogs pee on, the same rug countless people have tracked their East Village feet across, the same rug that I'm sure has never been cleaned. We NEED a downtown grocery store but this place needs to be shut down!

I like this location, it seems like there is no parking but it's underground. This location always seems fully stocked, good prices despite being downtown. But there is competition in the area, but I choose Albertsons. They also have the albertson app where you can save money. The store could use a good clean, but I know it's a lot of traffic and people that come through there. The store is good enough to shop and always stocked that's what matters. I see they have security probably because people are stealing stuff. But I just get what I get and leave. Its a starbucks inside also! Thanks albertsons employees.

So upset that my refund for a money order was properly refunded. This effect my rent payment and no one was able to help at all. Very disappointing

Albertsons is a good alternative for grocery shopping. The store is normally clean and well-kept, with a fair selection of merchandise. However, the prices can be exorbitant, and some of the goods may be of poor quality. Customer service is likewise hit or miss, with some employees being helpful and cheerful while others appear uninterested. Furthermore, checkout lines can be long and slow, especially during peak hours.

Going grocery shopping at Albertsons San Diego was an average experience. The store was disorganized and poorly stocked, making it difficult to find what I needed. The staff seemed disinterested in helping customers and the checkout process was slow and frustrating. On the plus side, the prices were reasonable and the produce looked fresh.

Edit: Store eliminated HAND BASKETS. Bring these back please. For a grocery store in the middle of downtown that has to deal with homeless/drug addicts constantly loitering and stealing, they do a pretty good job. Produce and meat is almost always fresh, and the store is better stocked than my other go-tos (Sprouts in North Park and Ralph's in Hillcrest). Shocked to see another reviewer complain about security guards-- if anything, this location could use more, but the ones who are there do a pretty good job of dealing with the loitering out front (not letting people sit on the ground, etc). One downside is definitely the number of vagrants wandering the aisles at all hours, but outside of offensive odors, security ensures everyone is pretty well behaved. And dog friendly!

Surprisingly clean for location. Will shop there again if in the area. I had a gift card so I had the opportunity to visit and shop downtown. I live in the north park area.
