My family and I really enjoyed our stay here during the summer. This is a great place to stay while visiting San Diego especially if you have kids! Fast, friendly customer service at check in. Parking was $30/day and there was plenty of spots available. Microwave and mini refrigerator provided in each room which was perfect for us. Beautiful location. Plenty of activities during the summer for kids. They have two pools available for guests to enjoy and show movies nightly at the tropical pool. We already booked our next stay for our trip in February. Can't wait to return and make new memories!

If you're looking for a quick getaway, I want to recommend The Dana on Mission Bay. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. On the premises they have the Firefly Eatery and Bar with the most delicious drinks, appetizers and full meals!!! The Manager, Bobby provided fantastic service and went out of his way to make our meal unforgettable. This is a nice place to go bike riding, go for a walk, have a picnic, go on a boat ride, go kayaking or sit by the pool with a drink. We saw families with small children, teenagers, young couples and older people throughout the facility. For out next San Diego trip, my family is planning to stay again at the Dana on Mission Bay!

Overpriced motel is the only way to describe this place. The pictures on the website are NOT what you get. We ended up with back pain from the horrible mattresses. The location is very convenient, but that's about it. We were completely disappointed especially for the price. We will never stay here again.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Dana. I found it to be a restful and serene environment and I hope to return. First, what I most enjoyed:A small resort hut spread out so it never felt crowded or busyBeautiful groundsFriendly and helpful staffAttention to details in the rooms like a corkscrew, plenty of coffee and creamer, room service dailyTwo gorgeous poolsNice restaurantAmazing locationThe downside:As others have pointed out, the buildings are a little dated. This is a renovated motel with two level buildings.I wanted to keep the shutters open to enjoy the view, but that gave me no privacy as people walked by to go to their rooms. No elevators so be prepared to schlepp your suitcases. They will help you if you want/need help.Rooms are comfortable but a tad-bit dated. I've stayed in worse Hiltons.I like that they offer movies for the kiddos and specials in the restaurant; food and drink service poolside. I would definitely return next time I'm in the area!

Mediocre over-priced hotel. This hotel has nice grounds and nice employees but the rooms are in desperate need of renovation. Carpet, furniture and even mattresses need complete overhaul. The bathroom towels are thin, cheap and hard as a rock. Bring your own! You're paying for the convenience in proximity to Sea World and other local attractions is all. Costly fees on top of already costly rooms. There is a nice walking trail around the property that goes under the bridge over to the Hyatt which is across the street and along marina. Bay view rooms have decent view but it can be loud due to the bay side spots equipped with fire pits which you will smell from your room. They are also at times loud parties at those spots. It was so nice having only the screen door open until the noise and smoke took over.

The Lanai room we selected had immediate access to the pool, which was kept at the ideal temperature and was never overcrowded. The gym was also nearby and had a range of equipment that was acceptable.

We held a business event at The Dana and it was awesome. The staff was extremely accommodating and everything went great. The grounds are beautiful and it feels like you're in a tropical paradise. The food from the restaurant was excellent. My event guests loved it.

You pay more to stay at a hotel in Mission Bay (compared to Hotel Circle, for example), but it is worth it for the bayfront view and proximity to the beaches. During my first visit, we stayed in a room with a small patio that opened directly to the pool entrance. Next time, I would like to stay in one of the upper level rooms with a patio directly overlooking the bay. Our room had all the amenties for our liking: flat screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, daily room service.

The Dana is one of the best hotels we've stayed at no doubt... 3.3 stars is a crime! I'd give it 6/5 if I could - we've stayed twice, once for 4 nights and another for 5 nights... flawless both times. They're SUPER dog friendly so our Corgi had a great time. They have a great welcome bag of treats, water bowl, and bags. It's $40/night or $100 max (which for 5 nights is a great deal). If you stay with a dog get Lanai double queen room so you're right the private grass area is outside your back door. The resort fee is one of the few that I actually don't mind paying as it includes nightly parking. Most hotels charge another $40 or $50/night so this pays for itself. Not to mention the facilities are always immaculate - two great pools/hot tubs, the back part of the hotel looks like a lagoon, and great views of the marina. We've eaten at Firefly both times and also great experiences. Never too busy, good prices on food, and very friendly service (not to mention dog friendly).Rooms are solid with a microwave and fridge. They have ice machines all over the resort and it's the perfect location to restaurants in Mission Beach and a short Uber to downtown SD. This is the only hotel we're staying at for our staycations!

The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. The chicken Caesar salad was fantastic! Cheesecake is good too! Lovely place to stay. Came for a convention for several days and it was a great stay. Thank you!!

Believe the critical reviews. Over $300/night for a poor-condition motel room. (Not an exaggeration, this was a motel room.). Noisy, smelly, worn, shocking at this price. $4 coffee in the morning. Expensive limited and poor buffet breakfast no-one was buying. They only clean the rooms three times per week. Confused staff told us the bar was open until 1 am so we had 20 people come over after an event. Closed hours before then. Friends walked into their room, turned around and moved to the hotel across the street. Oh, did I say over $300?

The hotel is dated and doesn't feel fresh. The carpeting is old. I've been here twice for conferences, and both times, the a/c unit is in the sink/bath area, which means it's blowing cold air on you as you use the sink. That's uncomfortable. The walls are thin. Considering the price, it's overpriced. It's ok for a business trip, but I wouldn't recommend for personal travel. It's not up to what I would consider as a resort. The staff is awesome though!

I love The Dana. I didn't want to leave .my room was beautiful and clean . It had a view of the lawn where events take place. The pool also was steps away. The firefly restaurant was great. I had breakfast inside with white table cloths. The waiter was very nice. They also a buffet inside for breakfast with outdoor seating. There a a little shop to buy extras that you may need. The staff is also ready to help with a friendly smile. Perfect for me because I was by myself. Very welcoming. I will go back and enjoy this beautiful place on the water in San Diego California.

What an awesome experience! My family and I decided to have a staycation for Labor Day and chose to stay at one of our favorite spots at the beach...The Dana, and once again it did not disappoint! The place, the people and the location are one of the best in San Diego. Patrick and his staff are true professionals! Janessa is great at her job and is there when you need anything. Don't waste you time looking any further...this is the spot!
