“Very cool surfer vibe. Don’t go here if you are expecting a Marriott experience. This place is an experience. Right next to the Main Street where everything is at.

It is noisy in your room as the cantina is directly above you, but that is part of the charm.

The Cantina is cool and the food is very good and the prices are very reasonable.

Take an adventure once in a while!

“Not much more one can ask. Place is ideal, huge oceanfront balcony can't be beat. Rooms were clean, nicely equipped kitchen, just an ideal environment where you really don't care to leave your room much.. Reception staff fantastic!
Not fault of the hotel, but you do need to close front doors & windows @ night unless you want to jump up in middle of the night from train sounds. You have the back windows & a/c to choose from instead. One recommendation to hotel staff is to ask the room cleaners & otherwise to lower down their walkie talkies & be mindful when passing by guest bedrooms, I wasn't happy being awakened by them & not being able to sleep again because of it. The cleaners are super loud & have their walkie talkies blasted to max volume. Plz fix this problem! Look forward to our next trip with my girls!”

“This was a very beautiful place for a vacation you have beachfront access from your room you have a large picture window that's overlooks the ocean from your front porch you have chairs to sit and drink coffee in the morning I will return to this place”

“We’ve done some traveling through our timeshare and the stay at the Four Seasons Pacifica was done through trading at II. We stayed in 3 bed, 2 car garage unit(Las Brisas). The view, quality kitchen equipments, and spacious unit made our vacation a dream. It was definitely one of the best experience we had! Looking forward to go back, when it is available through II again.Just want to mention that it is not a hotel, but a small 5 unit condo type accommodation.”

“enjoyed a peaceful stay, kinda close to the beach - 5-10 min. walk down/up the hill. a little bit farther away from downtown but not too far, very drive-able, fairly safe and secure area, it was a nice 1 week stay for us.

Rooms: we got a studio, kinda small for 2 ppl but tolerable. nice kitchenette, good enuf for our purposes, and they had kitchen utensils and silverware.

Nearby activities: none that i looked into besides the daily beach excursions.

Safety: fairly safe and secure area.

Walkability: 5-10 min to the calafia beach

Food and drinks: only 1-1.5 miles from downtown sc and a little further for grocery/chain store shopping.

“Overall not particularly impressed, but you get what you pay for.

Pros:
- reasonably updated room
- comfortable plush bed
- clean upon arrival

Cons:
- location not ideal…right across from the highway, not scenic or quiet
- could hear the upstairs guests walking around the whole time
- the only window in the room views out to the exterior hallway…only options are blackout curtains or zero privacy (this place could really benefit from some sheer window curtains!)
- slow WiFi, struggled to videoconference and stream

Food & drinks: The donut place across the street is quite good”

“It's a little confusing to get to because it's on a hill, but you rest very well. We sleep with the climate on without realizing it and we are very cold. Other than that, I recommend ?”

“Really nice cottage in a great location! Friendly and uncomplicated contact. Great amenities, clean, good value for money (given that California is very expensive and other locations that were not nearly as nice had about the same asking price).Rooms: Two levels, lower level had kitchenette and dining table, upper level had living room, bedroom and bathroom with bathtub.”

“Recently remodeled, this quaint hotel is a little gem. The room we stayed in was small but super clean (no carpets, which at first was weird but then I realized how much sense it makes). It also has a flatscreen TV, mini refrigerator and blow dryer. Everything is so clean! Each side of the bed has its own outlet and night stand. Also included is a bench. No dresser or desk so counter space is limited. It’s a bit noisy and we could hear our neighbors through the wall but everyone staying here did not make loud noises during the night so it wasn’t an issue.

Did I mention how clean the room is?

There’s a community kitchen where you can make yourself a Keurig cup of coffee, get some hot Lipton tea, filtered water, and microwave some food. There’s even an electric burner but I didn’t explore for a pot or pan. Not unexpectedly, the kitchen was clean too.

Joyce, the owner, and husband Dave, are so kind and friendly. They care about this place and providing quality service, which is obvious by all the little (and big) details (decor, free samples throughout the property, cleanliness ? etc). During the summer, they said they provide boogie boards.

It’s a one mile walk to the beach and there are also eating establishments within walking distance. Plenty more restaurants within a short drive too.

Glad we found this place and if we are in San Clemente, we would definitely stay here again.”

“I had an excellent stay at the Volare during Memorial Day 2024! The best part of the hotel is the location- you're only about 3 minutes drive from the beach or you're right near a free trolley stop that can take you to & from the beach. The beach was amazing and there are tons of cheap places to eat right across the road. We loved the hotel too- though it had an expensive vending machine and there were parts that were a bit holder, the front desk service was excellent, and the room was very clean and tidy. The bed was also super comfy with soft linens, and for a standard room it was super spacious (we had a whole second area that was a living room). Plus, bonus points for the pool and hot tub and free parking. I would absolutely stay here again and we had a great stay. Highly recommend!”

“To encounter such friendly and helpful staff is a thrill. The room was perfect and the breakfast unusually good too. The exterior isn't fancy but it's everything you need and more.

It's nice and affordable.Rooms: The rooms are big. Small fridge and microwave. There's even a hairdryer and an iron and ironing board. Nice and clean.Nearby activities: This is in a good location. Away from traffic but still close to all downtown has to offer.Safety: This is a nice, safe area. As is all of San Clemente.Walkability: It only take 15 minutes to walk downtown. The North Beach trail is close by to walk to the Pier. Everything is accessible.”

“Amazing Location 5 Stars - The staff was very nice at check in. It really wasnt' a problem for us, but it should say NO AC when booking, I can see it being a problem during a heat wave staying here.

Definitely paying for the location here. The interior is very outdated, only half of the fridge stayed cold.

“I love this hotel. The owner treats everyone like family, and makes you feel welcome. They will accommodate your needs if you just ask, and having a bbq in the courtyard is a great way to meet some interesting locals and travelers alike. The rooms are great for the price, never had any issues. Sure sometimes you can hear people outside but you’re a block from the biggest bar area in town in the downtown area- it’s to be expected. Some of these reviews seem to come from very closed minded people who are expecting ritz Carlton service on a motel 6 budget! (Oceans costs even less and offers way more in regard to charm and friendliness.) where else can you stay a block from a world famous beach and state of the art shopping for a mere 50-100 dollars? Don’t stay here if you’re upright, or judgemental”
