I bought a 1973 Karmann Ghia in Sept. 2017, and spent $$$ restoring it for 2+ years. I took possession in April 2020, but at 77, I'm not smelling the "gas fumes" I did in my youth (say, when I was 50). I spent considerable $$$ trying to alleviate this problem to no avail. During the time I tried to solve this problem (June 2022), I met with Ken at Jansen Enterprise and was able to see a lot of their current work (BTW he's a premiere engine builder).Two months later while park in my garage, I started the engine and was loading up items when the engine died like it was out of gas. I knew this wasn't right, I put a full tank in her the day before. I got inside and turned the key. Nothing. I looked in the rear-view mirror and saw flames licking up through the deck lid vents. I released the hand-brake and shut the door and pushed her out of the garage, into the street. 7 minutes later the SFFD arrived and sprayed water on the engine (cracking the block, thank God).I called Ken and told him what happened and that I wanted him to build me a new engine. During this conversation they recommended Mo Lofty at Europa Motors SM (another 5 star shop) and I spoke with him next. Luckily, I had a great policy with Hagerty and Mo took care of everything, including doubling the amount of the original estimate by the Hagerty field agent, and coordinating everything with Jansen Enterprise. I couldn't be happier with the workmanship, final results and the new friends (Ken, Marie and Joe) I made. Recently the Ghia was entered in the Corte Madera Lions EV & Classic Car Show. I proudly displayed "Carmen" and her beautiful engine to many impressed attendees and proudly passed along the contact information for Mo and Ken (my heroes). Thanks gentlemen.

Ken, Joey, and Maria Jansen are the kindest, most thoughtful business people you will ever meet. Kenny is a master engine builder and machinist. He has built several Porsche and Volkswagen engines for me. I race a vintage Porsche and his engine played an integral part in the numerous podium wins I have taken with that car. I can't say enough about the way Ken and his family take care of me and my Porsches. His son Joey helped me restore a 1974 Karmann Ghia from the group up. This was no easy task. And his dad Kenny built me an engine that is street friendly but feels every bit like the race build that it is. These folks are the real deal. From a simple brake check up to a really complex restoration, these guys can do it all. If you need your air cooled Porsche or VW worked on, bring it to them. You won't be sorry.

Look no further for your air cooled Porsche and Volkswagen needs!!! I have been going to Jansen Enterprise for nearly 2 decades and the owner Ken and his son Joe have been fixing, rebuilding, and maintaining my air cooled cars perfectly. Ken is a master engine builder and machinist. He machines and rebuilds cases, heads, etc... and can fabricate things to fit your needs. Just an awesome place and an awesome group of guys to work with. A family owned and run business I am honored and privileged to support.

Got an aircooled Volkswagen? This is your guy. Built me a 1776 motor for my Type 3 at a reasonable price in a reasonable amount of time. Both Ken and Maria are a joy to deal with.

This is my long-term review of Ken's work and he only gets better every time I drive my little VW Bug. Two years ago, I asked Ken to build an engine and transmission, re-do the brake system with disc brakes, rebuild the front suspension and change the voltage from 6 volt generator to 12 volt alternator for my '55 VW bug. From the very first turn of the key until this last weekend, my little bug has been running flawlessly. I goes 70 mph all day without taxing the engine, the transmission has freeway-flyer type gearing, the brakes are wonderful, it handles so much better now. I only asked Ken to make it able to cruise 70 mph and to go anywhere, anytime an get me home every time. He did exactly that. Now here's the other great part about Ken: He is as honest a man as you'll ever meet. He told me what he could do and what he wouldn't do and why. I must also add that the cost of all the above work was so darn reasonable. Now the last thing: He is incredibly humble. He is down to earth and friendly to everyone. He makes owning my car Mae me not only feel important but so greatly enjoyable. Like Yelp says,"Woohoo! As good as it gets!" is the perfect description for this honest, fair, hard-working, down-to-earth and humble man. We are lucky to have him right in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I was looking for a good air cooled repair tech and found a GREAT one at Jansen Enterprise in Belmont, Calif. They did some engine and clutch work for a very reasonable cost and my bus runs like a dream now. Ken, his son and the crew know their way around bugs, buses, square backs and the rest of the air cooled family. I am VERY pleased with the quality of workmanship they perform. Check them out!

Good work and friendly staff. Ken jansen and his son joe are gret knowledgeable vw mechanics. Been going here since forever with my dad for years. If you have anything air cooled its the place to go.
