“I have never seen work done better than the guys at Five Star were able to do. When you have a simple fix, most body shops will be able to do it. But in my case, it was a very complicated job and these guys did it immaculately. At the end, you would never know anything even happened to the car; all panels, bumper and trunk were lined up perfectly, the paint job is beautiful! “I've driven past this shop 1000 times, and when my college age kids come back for Thanksgiving , they always tell me that the cars need an oil change or a smog or something, and I have to scramble to meet their schedules and mine. So these guys were super friendly and super reasonable, and the smog was completed before I realized, even though there were a few people ahead of me when I got there originally, the smog went super quick. I'm definitely not going anywhere else for smog again. I also made an appointment to have them service my son's Hyundai early next week as well. I tried to call the Hyundai dealer for an appointment since the car has a 100,000 mile warranty in case they find anything wrong but they don't even answer their phone. For maintenance things, I'd rather not pay the dealer prices anyway, so I'll follow up on how the service goes since I'm bringing in the car for the first time, but I'm hopeful I found my go-to mechanic shop. (Just moved to San Bruno three years ago and know how important a good mechanic shop is, and they are hard to find, so fingers crossed!)”

Rico is extremely knowledgeable, kind, perfectly realistic and I am so satisfied with the work that was done on my car. I went in thinking I had a transmission on its way out (Nissan Muranos are notorious for transmission issues) and it turned out to be something else. He talked me through the problem, quoted a reasonable price, and did the repair in about 24hrs. I will absolutely be bringing my car back for any other problem that comes up. I brought the same car to the BMW dealer in San Mateo (Peter Pan) and they quoted me over $3000.00. Brought it into these nice folks and was done for less than 50% of the price and WAY WAY WAY better service. Peter Pan wanted to have the car for 1-2 weeks, these guys did the job SUPER FAST. “Replaced an old 2018 battery at O'Reilly and they ran a diagnostic test resulting in bad diodes on the alternator. Called different shops for a quote to replace an alternator, belt, rotors and brakes. Aki gave the best price compared to other shops I called. He tested the new battery voltage and didn't find any issues. He was real honest and didn't want me to spend all the money to replace the alternator because the voltage was good. We agreed to drive it for a while and keep an eye on the voltage of the new battery. If it remains at a good voltage, he suggested not to change the alternator. If it drops, Aki recommended to bring it in to replace the alternator. While the car was there, I had all the brakes and rotors replaced. The car is running great so far. Will definitely come back for all other services for our Acura. Great work. Honest. Best prices. Professional. Authentic. Personable.”

I have known about this auto shop for decades. They've been open and successful now for 20 years and STILL going STRONG! I have known the owner since we were kids in Catholic School. David Sarchet is one helluva stand up guy. Ask ANYONE. I keep pronouncing his name like he's French though. He always forgives me despite. Lol What a great guy! I've been butchering his name for over 30 years. lol
It's good to see he's doing well. I have known his wife Maria too since we met when I was a KJ [Karaoke Jockey, the DJ's harder working, lesser paid cousin. Specialization: harmonizing with and canceling out tone deafness] at Newell's Bar AKA Forty's Bar down San Mateo Avenue in downtown San Bruno a mile or so down the street from the shop. My husband now works there as the electrical engineer tech guy. He is just happy yo be part of an awesome team and learn from thr master.

“I have brought multiple cars here and Tony has always been upfront and honest with everything. My older car started giving me problems and Tony was honest and told me to get what I could from the car,not to put money in the car in the state it was in and put money in a newer car. I did just that. I brought a 99 Chevy to Tony and he did fixed it and took the time to call around for me for a problem that Tony doesn't specialize in. Tony sent me to the person that does AND who wasn't going to charge me an arm and a leg for the work. It's nice to have a mechanic that you can honestly trust. Will be returning”

“My car broke down in SF on a Friday evening in a parking lot that tow trucks couldn’t get into & that charged $40 a day. It was so late that most shops were closed, but I tried calling Mike. He ended up calling me back shortly and offered to come to where I was to see what he could do. He got my car out of the lot and to his shop!
Mike saved me a lot of time, stress, and money & the issue was diagnosed & fixed swiftly. He even took the time to show me different things in the vehicle & answered my questions about engine-related things that weren’t related to the parts being replaced. It’s pretty rare to meet such empathetic people who look out for strangers! He even gave me pepper spray because I took Bart home in the evening. Thanks Mike!”
