D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R. I rented Stewart Chapel for my wedding this last Sunday (March 3rd, 2024). First, from the time I rented the chapel (at least 6 months in advance), to the time that we had our wedding, I rotated through no less than 3 different people in charge of communicating regarding the rental. Each time, I experienced LARGE lapses in communication and I had to hunt down who my new contact person was. As the wedding approached, I had to remind the person in charge to collect the remainder of my deposit. A small thing, but speaks to inefficiency. Months before the event, I scheduled to have a sound check with my lead musician and the person running my recorded music. The liaison (Jeremiah) confirmed the appointment many times. When my team arrived for the meeting at 9am, one week prior to the wedding, Jeremiah was nowhere to be found. I texted and called Jeremiah with no response or answer. After one of my team had to leave, at 9:50am (almost an hour late), Jeremiah came ambling up and greeted us like the appointment was at 10am. When I informed him he was late, he made a lame excuse about "something he had to take care of," and no apology. When we got into the chapel, I asked to try a CD in the machine to hear the sound in the chapel and NONE of the sound would work. Not even the microphones. I was assured this would be fixed and that he would let me know as soon as it was. By mid the next week I still had not heard from him and had to email him to confirm we had sound in the chapel. The day of the rehearsal, there had been a storm. As we arrived, Jeremiah informed us that the lights in the chapel weren't working. He made no suggestions about how to fix this. He half heartedly said he would reach out to an electrician. My cousin and sound man is a boarded, licensed and bonded electrician with decades of experience. He told Jeremiah he knew what was wrong and could fix it in a few minutes. Jeremiah would not let him fix it but insisted he had to go through "his vendors." The next day, an hour before my wedding was to start the lights were still not fixed. I was facing getting married in a church with no light. My cousin did not ask but INFORMED him that he was fixing the lights and had them fixed in 5 minutes. All that stress for no reason. The unnecessary stress caused by the handling of this, was absolutely ridiculous. It is a beautiful chapel, but it is being run so unprofessionally, I would not advise using it.

Beware if your planning your wedding at the San Anselmo Theological Seminary, several vehicles including my own were vandalized the day of my sisters wedding. There was no clear signage that you can’t park there in front of the parking spaces.Part of the venue has housing on it which the wedding party rented so I was not aware the other properties facing their rental there on the venue site were regular residents. I can imagine the parking situation would be annoying for them. The cars were scratched and drawn on with red permanent marker. I would suggest that you bring your own large signs to put directly in front of those spaces. They are right there where the reception is, so it's an easy mistake to make. Someone did not take kindly to the mistake. I did read Yelp reviews from people stating they are residents complaining about noise as well.I am editing this to say outside of my car being vandalized it was a gorgeous majestic wedding. The property is very beautiful. I was told later by staff that called to apologize that at the end of the street they have some signage they put up but it was not visable with cars lining the street, so my advice would be to put additional signage in front of all the parking spots to avoid property damage. I did receive several calls and apologies which is why I changed my review.

Buyer Beware! Read the Contract Carefully! We tried to reserve Redlands for a high school retreat. We were stunned when the contract said we would be required to indemnify them if they get sued for their own reckless or wilfull behavior. When asked, they confirmed that if one someone in our group was hurt by their bad behavior, and sued them, we would have to pay the damages awarded against them. We asked them if they really wanted to extract such concessions from their business relations, and whether they would agree instead that we would both be responsible to each other if we act unreasonably. They said they'd talk to their lawyers, but we shouldn't expect to hear anything soon, and suggested we look elsewhere. Never got a revised contract as of the date of the retreat, and had to go elsewhere. Was looking forward to this place. Really disappointed. Be careful what you sign. Read it first.

We booked our wedding at the University of Redlands, Marin Campus and you cannot find a more breathtaking venue. Every site on the campus offered its own unique and beautiful views. The Geneva Terrace was absolutely gorgeous and the Montgomery Garden provided a dramatic backdrop for our reception. Our guests were in awe the entire time at our wedding. We also rented the Shaw Guest House and could not have been happier with that decision. The photo opportunities were endless within the yard and inside the house. Being within walking distance to the wedding site was also a major plus! Ashley was great to work with! She was very kind and very helpful with getting everything we needed for our special day.

Brides beware! Although a lovely setting, the Seminary is in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood. Outdoor amplified music violates the local noise ordinance. One would hate to have the wedding of your dreams met with police officers with decibel meters, ready to shut down your band.

Beautiful campus with great view of Mt. Tam. We visited while staying at the Shaw Guest House on the property. Very serene and peaceful place for evening walks.

I noticed that Brenda Threatt is on the Class of 2019 Alumni Council. This woman is really Brenda Lamothe, the reverend how claims to have had performed Lewd Sex Acts inside of the First AME Church Office in Los Angeles for over four years because a man claimed he was a prophet. This woman is perverted and immoral Brenda Threatt, Pasadena, CA. Here is a picture. There are also articles where she stole personal belongings and attempted to extort.
