Just adopted a dog over the weekend. I had been checking out his profile on the website so I knew I wanted him. Everyone was very nice except 1 lady. I'm assuming she was a supervisor or something. She was rude and boss to the young lady that was doing my paper work. The girl working with me was on point, not letting the bossy one get to her. My new dog is a sweetheart and is fitting in very well with his cat siblings.

Dear selfish pet owners who surrender their best friends here, I just wanted to let you know that your pet might be put down in this facility. This isn't a no kill shelter such as the San Francisco SPCA

I adopted 3 kittens here and the experience was really great! They were very quick with the adoption and very informative whenever I had questions. I do have to say… there’s one employee who seems a little more rude compared to the others, who are EXTREMELY nice and caring. I’ve been to this SPCA 3+ times and each time she’s there, she talks to folks like they don’t know anything and she seems to really want to push the animals out of the shelter. I understand the employees want to get the animals adopted, but it seems more important that the animals go to the right home, rather than just getting them out of there. I don’t mean to single out or make a bad review about one person, but she’s not very nice and didn’t seem to know much about the animals. If I go back to the Monterey SPCA, I hope I work with anyone but her :)

This is the biggest and nicest animal shelter we've seen. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The animals are well cared for. Taking a found animal here can sometimes be difficult though, as they often defer you to the city/county animal shelter where the animal was found. If they were more accepting of found animals, it'd be a 5 star rating for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised. Nice, friendly staff and the affordable cost of the vaccinations allows us to afford our pet's care. I wish they had low cost veterinarian care/visits.

This place is amazing. Immediately upon parking, I was greeted by an employee with a big smile who helped us get to where we needed to go. Once inside they explained where all the puppies, cats, and other animals were; as well as the play areas and what we do if we wanted to walk with the pets. Right away, my wife and I found a little puppy that we absolutely fell in love with. They have a policy that I really enjoy that they ask you bond with your pet for about 30 minutes or more to really make sure it’s the right match for your family. After spending some time with the puppy, the employee and volunteer workers made the process so easy by walking out the forms to us while we were in the play area and they were very nice. This SPCA also has a program called Pets for Vets so for all those who serve or have served, they waive the adoption fee! Overall this shelter was amazing and I highly recommend it even if it’s a bit of a drive for you!

I've taken wild birds to this location twice now. They are very helpful and receptive upon receipt and very caring for the animals. The facility is currently undergoing a big upgrade so there's construction in the area. Exciting to see what's going in! They have really long hours too so if you happen to catch/see some animal in distress, it's likely they'll be open to help!

No more pregnancies for this sweet girl! She's been neutered, vaccinated, ear tipped, fed, and rested. Now it's back to freedom! I also loved the squirrel bagging some rays atop the fence alongside the road on the way out. Very California. Yeah, baby!

We found the English Bulldog of our dreams. His name is Rob. We brought him home Saturday and he has made our house a home. There is nothing like having a couch hippo?

I called multiple times over the course of 2 days to adopt a kitten that was just put up for adoption. The same lady picked up the phone each time and I told her I would call 1 minute before the hold is up 20 minutes before the hold had expired. So I called 1 minute before the hold from another family was up. This is when they finally tell me that in person contact gets first dibs and some one is already looking at her. staff was really nice but this is incredibly unacceptable, I called multiple times and was never told this and if I had been I would have been there in person. Really unfair and unprofessional.
