I'm very thankful for Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinic. During an emergency situation that had happened to a friend's horse of mine. They were very professional and very dedicated to providing care that was needed. I spoke on the phone with Nikki . She definitely went the extra mile trying to find out if they would be able to provide what was needed for my friend's horse!! Thank you so much!

This place is a joke. Zero customer service. Nikkie at the front can't seem to schedule an appointment with a doctor that doesn't have to be rescheduled last minute or the morning of because of a scheduling error. I don't usually call people out by name, but this chick has done it to me 3 times. I've asked for phone calls back from management, nothing. I paid for a lameness exam where the vet ruled out nothing, then paid for another lameness exam at their Menlo location (better experience, but still lacking in communication with clients for billing/test results/clear diagnosis). This place's management needs to step it up, I'll take my horses to Davis for sports medicine, and private practice for routine care.

Dr Dykstra has been one of my horses main vets from this clinic for several years now. Last week my horse came down with an acute lameness on 2 legs and hurting over his whole body, he could barely walk. Dr Hibbits so kindly saw him on an emergency appointment at my house quickly after I called, started him on a high dose of Bute for a few days till he was sound enough to trailer. Dr Dykstra saw him at the clinic and was, and always has been, so easy to educate me on step by step diagnostics in the best interest of my horse. No questions were left unanswered and my mind was at ease when we were done. She even went the extra mile to spend about 15 minutes helping me load my horse back in the trailer who was giving us a real hard time. All of their vets are always very kind, thorough, and educational. I always trust them with all of my horses whatever the problem may be.

I wrote a glowing review ten years ago and sadly this practice has changed since being sold to Avanti. New reviews need to be posted and I doubt they will be five star. Dr. Durham and his wife left. They both are excellent and this is a loss for our horses. I wish he'd go into private practice here. Prices are up. Billing is very hard to understand in the format used. Check carefully. Vets now seem pushed because not enough of them. One of my horses was there for a week. Her feet weren't picked. I couldn't believe that wasn't part of protocol. Dr. Eastman has done several surgeries on my old mares as did Matt. Vets with decades of experience. This makes a difference! I've heard from so many who are unhappy with treatment or charges. We really need a hospital in this area of so many horses as Davis is a long haul with a horse. It's almost as if Avanti knew this and just like anything that goes private to corporate, they are taking advantage. I hope more of you post your stories. I do not want to blame the vets. Overwork and rushing to accommodate can lead to bad decisions. I don't know the inside story of what they are dealing with so I'll reserve judgment.

My regular vet wasn't available. My miniature horse was showing signs of colic. My other back up vet Dr Towes retired and sold his practice to Steinbeck. So I called them. I got a vet that listened to his lungs, heart gut and was charged 167.50 for a colic exam. He didn't even check the teeth or the temperature. All my mini horse was given was a shot of banamine. I tried to pay my bill before he left and he said the office has to send it. I got ahold of my regular vet later in the day. She asked me what did the vet do? Did he scope him, oil him? What was his temperature? I told her he did nothing except give the shot. I accept the other charges but I do NOT accept the colic charge - when I called to discuss it. I said he did a routine exam. I explained what he did for the visit and she said she is not a vet and they don't have a code for a regular exam. I won't be calling them again!

I've started transitioning over to Steinbeck since my regular vet went MIA. One of my horses was euthanized, a decision that was best overall, but not necessarily best for today. The decision ultimately came down to the financial burden of building a new stall and managing multiple medications for an older horse that also has significant allergies, compromised immune health, and is unrideable. Unfortunately, this decision will eat at me for a long time and is something I will have to live with. The vet and vet techs at Steinbeck could not have made the process better. They understood the dilemma and were able to give me all the information to make an informed decision. They were patient, fast, and compassionate regardless of which way I went. Even though they may disagree with my decision, they definitely didn't show it. Either way, it's a tough job and I greatly appreciated their professionalism.

Steinbeck has always helped me out in every crazy emergency situation 24/7 with open arms. Also for annual vaccines they commute to the most remote areas, so grateful. We are truly blessed to have such a variety of Veterinarians at our finger tips. With a Top notch Facility that can accommodate major surgeries as well. 10 stars in my book.

Steinbeck's is a great large and small animal veterinarian clinic, they have the facilities to keep large animals for observations, x-rays, and everything that comes with owning a horse. Large turnaround parking for loading and unloading which is super convenient. The veterinarians and vet techs are great and will care for your animal as if it were their own.

The front office staff needs work, but I voiced my concern with their need for better communication. Dr. Amaral was quick to thank me for my feedback and rectified the issues I had. Overall I am pleased with this office. If you have ANY issues ask for Dr. Amaral, she will work with you and make it right.
