Martin is one amazingly personable, likable, and talented individual. His food is delicious and well worth a trip to the Prunedale Market. I make it a point to stop there each time I'm in

Best barbecue in three counties, and the owner is an awesome person! Give you way more than you order.

A lot of reviews are accurate. However, though it's his signature sandwich, I don't think it was the best in the bay area. Yes it was large and tasty. Not the best however. Not sure how I feel about the chips. It was awful messy. I am handicapped. The bathrooms are totally inaccessible. Having traveled 117 miles to try this place, I coulda used one.

This place is a gem. Make sure to stop by here. As a small family business we know how much work it is to keep a beautiful place like this going. Food is great and the owner is awsome.

Delicious Tri tip and ribs, the owner is very friendly and gave us free corn chowder, 2 cups! The Tri tip sandwich is delicious, you can't go wrong here! A couple tables inside and outside. Definitely worth a visit!

An absolute gem! The owner, Martin, is a vibe and hooked us up with some of the best tri-tip sandwiches I’ve had. The bbq ribs fell off the bone and were a delicious side to the sandwiches. Martin also gave us complimentary bowls of chili which was sooooo good too!I know chips on sandos isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely FOR ME!! I loved the texture and crunch of the hot Fritos on top of the melt in your mouth tri-tip sandwich. Everything was mouth wateringly good. Martin has built a beautiful community around his spot and I’ll definitely be coming back. Well worth the drive from the Bay Area or if you’re in Monterey/Carmel!

Martin is the man!!! He not only makes amazing food but has a heart of gold. He offered my husband & I a sample chili (some of the best we've ever had) & gave our son an ice cream! He was so welcoming & kind to every customer. Such a great establishment off the 101. A definite pit stop we will be back to. His tri tip sandwich with bbq sauce & flaming hot Fritos is a must!

Heard about this place . the best sandwiches in California, and they did not disappoint. As soon as we turned on the street, we could smell the bbq and got that much more excited. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted with a hello and where you guys coming from making it feel that much homier. We all placed our order for the Tri-tip sandwich and grabbed a drink. The owner then offered a sample of the corn chowder of the day while we for the sandwiches to be ready. If the soup was any indication of hiw the sandwiches were going to be we were in for a treat becuase it was that good.Once the sandwiches were ready, we took them and grabbed a table, and sat down to enjoy. The size of the sandwich was a little intimidating and can definitely be shared, I'm no small man but even I had difficulty finishing off this sandwich and ended up using a fork to eat the rest of the tri-tip.The meat of the sandwich was stack thick and covered with bbq and fritos which i must admit i was a little hesitant of at first but they offered a nice complimentary little spice to the sweetness of the bbq sauce. The meat itself was tender and smokey just how i would expect good tri-tip to be.Overall a fantastic experience and a place I will definitely visit again and take my friends too.Things to note, you cannot turn directly off the freeway into the parking lot anymore you have to take a few side streets. It is a cash only place but definitely worth the stop to grab some cash before heading over.

We were conflicted as a family on this rating. Right off the freeway as you head north on 101, it's a convenient stop for folks traveling to the Bay Area. The food was awesome and the guy who worked behind the counter was super amazing and helpful. He even let us have tastes of the corn chowder (which had healthy chunks of veggies and potatoes and was one of the best soups I've had in a long time). However, the place itself was the dirtiest gas station like environment that we've ever experienced. Makes you wonder about how they prepare their food when the back was so dirty and disorganized. Thankfully, none of us got sick so rounding up to three stars. CA dept of health - be warned.

Unbelievable sandwich. Martin is a sandwich master. The soup was rich and full of flavor. Don't walk away without trying the ribs. An experience to remember.

This place is just off HWY101, but you'd be best to use Google Maps to get there as you will get not-so-obvious directions. But, once you get there...you will find that it is the best food find in the area, BBQ or otherwise. The market itself is fairly unassuming for what's to come inside. The smoked meats are amazing...tri-tip, ribs, sausages and chicken...flavorful and not dry. What is equally amazing is the different soups offered during the week. My wife and I happened to come on a Wednesday and it was chili. I understand that the ingredients may vary with additions of various meats and vegetables on any given Wednesday. Maybe chili is not a soup, but it is certainly not to be missed. Want to go back and try all the soups offered during the week as others have noted that they are outstanding. Maybe more notable than the BBQ and soups is Martin, the owner. Extremely friendly and engaging...he is a force. A one man show and he just knows how to feed and entertain a crowd with his food and personality. He, alone, is what makes this a destination. Come for the food and stick around to talk to Martin...well worth the trip!

I haven't been here in over 13 years and it's still one of the best sandwiches on yelp! The soup was amazing and the owner is still cracking jokes. I will definitely start coming by here anytime I'm passing through. Made my daughter's day by giving her some free candy too.

Came here for the first time on Wednesday October 4th on the recommendation of some coworkers. First, let me say that the owner, Martin, is extremely welcoming and friendly. He takes very good care of his customers. The food is nothing shy of amazing. We were greeted with a large bowl of chile con carne that was a good a chile as I've ever had. Good portions of chunky meat and beans, and just the right spice. The fall-off-bone pork ribs were smoked to perfection, and the half rack order was more than I cold eat in one setting. Great leftovers! Great customer service combined with great food is often hard to find. You get both here from Martin. I highly recommend this establishment. I hear the clam chowder is amazing, along with his tri-tip. I will try these on my next visit. Thank you Martin!
