I started working in the building next door 7 months ago. In that time I saw several old vehicles come and go. I asked my coworkers about them, and they all spoke highly of the repair shop. I spoke with Mike regarding some work I needed done on my car. Don't get me wrong, I do all the work on my car, it is very rare I let anyone touch my car, but felt comfortable with Mike, and he did not disappoint. Hi fixed what I had no patience to fix and then some. Was it an expensive job? You get what you pay for. I paid for the knowledge and experience I wouldn't get at a dealership. I don't know anyone who would take their classic car to a dealership. When it comes to old cars, if you can't do it yourself, do your research and ask questions, then come see Mike at Hampton's. I trailered my car in from Gilroy and drove it home a few days later. Thanks again Mike, I'll be brining you more cars in the near future.

Great honest mechanics. When a woman comes in "hearing a noise" some guys will try to screw you over or charge you $100 just to look. I suspected the noise was the belt and mostly due to moisture, but wanted good eyes on it before continuing a long road trip. These guys took a look and got me safely on my way, assuring me my vehicle was safe for the rest of the trip. Cost me zero dollars to feel safe the rest of the way and only one inconvenient diversion. Now I know where I am going if I ever need a mechanic in Salinas. And who I'd recommend.

It's hard to find a good and honest mechanic. Just like many of you I was trying to find the most reliable place to take my car in. I looked at the reviews and saw all the kind things people had to say about this place. I gave them a call and Doug was friendly and kind right off the back. I took my car in and they fixed it right up. Chris was very kind and explained to me what they did to fix my vehicle. 10/10 would recommend. Being a veteran myself and being fortunate enough to have gone to so many places I have never experienced such excellent service. Very humble and honest people. It's good to see some humanity in the world especially during this pedamic. Thank you so much! Most definitely bringing my car back here in the future.

My 96' Jeep Cherokee XJ had a worn out harmonic balancer and the seal was shredded. Doug got me in quick and out the next day! So far, so good! I was concerned about if my oil slinger needed replacement, I called the shop while I was on lunch and the service writer didn't even know what a oil slinger was, odd!!! I am no pro tech, but come on, It goes into the front of the timing cover, but since they had no need to go that far to replace the balancer, it didn't need replacement and they usually don't go bad unless the timing chain is damaged. I do have a small oil leak now and surprised the tech didn't notice that but that will be another day! I would go back.

So picture your vacation starting with your rear tire flying off your car while doing 70 on hwy 101. We were stranded in Salinas and happened to get lucky and randomly chose doug hampton's shop. The staff was amazing and they repaired our car and got us back to our vacation quickly. Highly recommended.

I take all my vehicles to doug for repairs of all kinds. I have been going to doug since 1998 When he built the readend for my early bronco. He knows exactly what he is doing and does custom work also. I have recomended him to all my coworkers and friends. You can't go wrong at Doug's shop. Give him a call.
