Probably the best post office I’ve ever been to. Great staff, beautiful building, 10/10 mailing experience

Love stopping in here for my mailing needs. They are so nice and usually easy to slip in and out of without a huge line! And what a beautiful building!

After coming back from Hawaii, I had some gifts to mail to a friend in Chicago. Since we were going up to Wine County, she had a wish list for a pack of English muffins from Model Bakery. After getting the muffins, we brought our priority mail box to the post office at the next block. The building is historic that was commissioned in 1939 and completed as a Works Progress Administration Project. The lobby is quaint with vintage a section of vintage post office boxes with nice wood walls and cages and the clerks window. There's a mural, "Grape Pickers" by Lew Kelley in 1942 in the side of the lobby.Since I had prepaid for the box label, we just finished packing the box, taped the box and brought it to the window where the clerk scanned it and gave me a receipt. We were happy to have gotten the box in for the Saturday drop off and the package arrived in Chicago on Monday. Appreciate this quaint little post office in downtown St. Helena for providing service to locals and for visitors like me.

In 2 months a had 2 separate packages missdelievered. I went in and all he said was that my address number was the same as the street over. Like that was my fault. It was a TOTALLY different road!!! If you can ship to your work address.....

This is the friendliest post office I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. I will miss seeing Francisco and the other kind gentlemen who took care of all my packages. Thank you!

Get a damn postage machine so the techno astute don't have to wait in line for the transactional and have the Luddites waste our time! True, the agents are friendly and the facility is quaint, but a giant time suck.

St. Helena's Post Office dates back to the New Deal days. It's in an Art Deco style with WPA artwork. They've maintained it pretty well. It survived the August 2014 earthquake better than its southern neighbor down in Napa. There used to be a mini-museum of sorts, but its artifacts have long since gone away. The service is slow, but good. The woman ahead of me in line had had issues with her not putting a zip code on the care package she was sending. The poor postman was explaining the necessity of zip codes, holding up the line. Unfortunately, they had only one booth open. It's a beautiful old post office, but it could use some TLC and better staffing.

I have lived in Deer Park and have used the St Helena PO for over 40 years now for both jobs and personal use and not ONCE have I had anything but friendly, professional, helpful service. When there is a line at the window, the second window is immediately opened, I have always had knowledgeable and extremely competent service, my mail always comes and goes where it needs to come and go--I have NEVER had a single problem! I would vote our PO as one of the best businesses in the entire Valley! I am not doubting the people who have had problems, I am just utterly surprised. I have to add that our mail delivery guy, Miguel, has one of the largest routes and he is the best mailguy we have ever had. If we get someone else's mail, we know that Miguel did not work that day. We live out in the country on a private road, with our mailboxes at the beginning of the road about an eighth of a mile away, and every package that doesn't fit in the box is personally brought to our house (hope I don't get him in trouble--customer satisfaction is the number one priority!!) and our dog lets us know when Miguel is coming with hysterical barking because it means a doggy bone for him. Miguel has become a good friend. So here is an extremely happy family with our PO, and we are not a family that is known to be pro-government, especially for the last year and a half. Thank you!

Nothing but problems! Pay for tracking on my outgoing packages and they usually fail to scan the package so there is no record of pickup causing my business problems! Why pay for a service you don't get!!!

Accepted my package I needed to ship to New York, 4 days later I notice no activity since I dropped it off there. I call them, they tell me "we don't accept FedEx shipping labels", and then my package is nowhere to be found in the post office... I've sent over 10 packages exactly like this before, and now this happens out of no where. Save the hassle.
