Thought I'd reviewed this in the past but this has become one of my go-to hotels when I need one in Sacramento, and especially since Marriott and Starwood merged a long time ago. It's extremely close to my mom's place, has fantastic rooms, a great restaurant, and is very quiet.
There was some construction going on at the river in the past which blocked all the views, but that's completed now and it's all very tranquil. Service has always been great and the rooms are clean, spacious, and pretty luxurious. The grounds are beautiful and overall they did a great job of integrating the hotel into a little piece of land tucked away between the levee and freeway. I never would have thought something like this would be here growing up in the area.
Overall I'd highly recommend the Westin.

NOT WORTH HIDDEN FEES!
I have been staying at this hotel for the last 15 years, and it used to be the only nice option in Sacramento. They've recently done an amazing renovation on the rooms, which is a major plus. If you're lucky enough to get a room facing the river, the view is great; otherwise, you're stuck looking at the parking lot.
However, despite the upgraded rooms, they didn't upgrade the HVAC system. It turned on every 15 minutes, and it was so loud that it woke me up each time. To make matters worse, the hotel was nearly empty during our stay, yet I was still placed on the ground floor right next to another guest who had their TV on blast all night.
While I was aware of the $333 room charge and was okay with it given my long history with the hotel, the additional mandatory $45 valet fee, hidden fees, and taxes pushed the total to well over $400 for one night—on an empty night, no less! This is Sacramento, and it is NOT WORTH that kind of money. You can stay downtown, closer to everything, in a super nice hotel for half the cost.
It's sad to say, but I won't be coming back with these rates and fees. What was once a reliable choice in Sacramento has now priced itself out of the market for me.
Rooms: Great rooms and bathrooms outside of them not being quiet!

Intro: this is mid range marriot. Not one of the best.
Pros:
-location is semi great
-the room is very nice
-the bed was definitely one of the most comfortable
-the food is really good.
Cons:
-the staff, the staff, and the staff. They make you feel uncomfortable at times and the valet guys have weird energy. Either they are nice or not and it’s very clear. Also, some of the cleaning staff can have weird energy especially when you say hello to them. It’s like they don’t want to say hello back.
Overall: it’s okay. The rooms are great but the staff ?.

BE WARNED OF VALET PARKING EXTORTION FEE of $45/night!
I only search for hotels with taxes and fees included in total price as I want to compare 'true per night cost' on hotels. Well, I booked this Westin for $222, and in the confirmation email in tiny text, they said these are additional required valet charges of $45/night (equals to a + 21% fee).
I called and inquired about this charge and why it was not included in the taxes and fees total, and I got a very rude reply of We are a 100% valet property, I said I was surprised by this hidden fee and would like to cancel. My Platinum status with Marriott, has nice benefits I was thinking maybe a waiver or included with my status. Instead, she offered not a single nicety or understanding, instead all she said it, you are canceled.

Upgraded newly renovated guest room is spacious with two king-sized beds and modernized adequate lighting and comfortable air-conditioning. The shower water temperature and pressure are fantastic providing comfortable shower to residents. There are drawbacks in that the hotel self parking is closed forcing guests to use valet service which charges unbelievable and unreasonable high parking fee of $45 per night. There is no not-to-disturb label/sticker available outside the room door resulting unnecessary disturbance to guests by hotel cleaners.

First time back after the pandemic. A lot have changed since the last time we were here. The property is under renovation. They did a good job segmenting guests from the job site.As the other reviewer stated, parking for this property is now 100% valet. While people at the valet were professional, I just can't get over the fact that they are charging $45 to park your car there overnight. The price is outrageous. Even overnight parking at a big city like San Francisco doesn't cost $45.When I checked in, I was asked whether I wanted points or breakfast for my stay. The reason they asked is due to my membership level with Marriott. I chose breakfast. The problem is that they didn't explain their breakfast policy. They only gave me a $20 credit for breakfast. This is different from other Westin I have stayed in before.Due to their parking and food policies, I will be going to other property for our stay next time we are in town. I'm very disappointed with the experience.

Way way fancier than I thought it was. Had to pay $45 for valet parking. Took an amazing bath.

Two days before we were supposed to arrive, we received a call that the hot water heater needed to be replaced and our reservation was being cancelled. Complete disruption of our holiday - and no effort to help us find another hotel for our vacation, no compensation (a full refund two days before arrival is not particularly helpful).

Hotel is under serious renovation, but with no notice of this on the website. The lobby is closed. The bar is closed. We had to enter through a smelly side passage. You can’t see or access the riverfront right now. Construction is going on well into the night, super loud and kept waking my baby up. Staff was indifferent about it, saying “we will ask them to be more quiet” but there was still loud drilling and banging and music.
