Love the personal touches and care the owner Mona puts into the shop! It’s not your average big box plant store, they carry products the owner truly believes in and uses herself. They also offer event rentals in their gorgeous lush garden space which truly feels like a unique and hidden gem!

We had an awesome time at our company team building pot-n-sip! Mona was such a great host, and it was the perfect activity for our small firm. The space is so cute. Highly recommend!

Beautiful grounds, Mona is a perfect host and very welcoming. I would recommend the sip and pot or even a private party. I'll be back!

Gosh I LOVE The Prickly Pear! Mona has always been so helpful and has really expanded her business. Her beauty products are amazing (especially the oils). I get so excited when she brings her goats! There are so many fun photo opportunities.

Adorable succulent and cacti nursery located in Sacramento. But it’s not just another plant shop, it’s so much more. The pet friendly shop has unique gifts, hand crafted pottery, kombucha, seasonal home grown produce for only 10 cents, a private event venue that makes you feel like you’re in a desert oasis, pot-and-sip for team building, a skincare line, and a pest control product (Kiss of Death coming back soon). The owner, Mona developed an all-natural bug killer that became so popular in such a short period of time that it had be to be registered. Plant lovers like myself, who have become more conscious about using toxic products in our homes and gardens, are anxiously awaiting the return of “Kiss of Death.” Keep your eye out for its return. Mona is so creative, and constantly working on something new. Her creativity even landed her a gig making a huge plant display and back drop for a concert at the Golden 1 Center. Aside from the adorable and fun shop, I enjoy following Mona, and her goose, Harriet’s adventures on the Prickly Pear’s social media account.

I absolutely love the Prickly Pear and have been a supporter for many years. Such a great peaceful serene cactus garden to enjoy. My kids love visiting to see the rare cacti and love snapping pictures. Mona is so friendly, my kids remember trying the grapes grown at the garden years ago that she gave them to them. They enjoy seeing the goats when they are there.I am all for PPbody. I started using Morning Majesty and Queen of the Night when Mona first released and instantly fell in love. I have purchased 3 times and use it religiously. At a point when I ran out and didn’t repurchase, my skin needed it. I broke out and my face was dry.I highly recommend visiting the Prickly Pear in person, whether it’s to purchase or just to simply snap a photo. You won’t be disappointed.

This is my ultimate favorite cacti shop I love to go to. And how I miss it sooo much now that I am living in San Diego. But every time I do make a trip to Sacramento, it's a goal to visit. I bought quite a few cacti from Mona as well as joined her subscription box which I ended up getting one of my wish list plants... the Blue Torch!! I also bought two neon pathos there. Her shop is amazing and the plants are so well cared for! I highly recommend!

I love this plant store!! I love the selection, and I always find something new and exciting!! I have made it a Thursday tradition to walk over from my office on my lunch. I have been shopping the prickly pear since it was located in Oak Park, and have always been amazing at what the owner has accomplished.

I don’t know where to start, but PP is amazing! Plant selection is incredible. Grounds are stunning. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Kiss of Death bug spray has saved many of my plants. PP skincare has saved me literally hundreds of dollars in unnecessary products that don’t work. And THE BEST chapstick I’ve ever used.

I absolutely adore The Prickly Pear in Sacramento! Not only is the garden beautiful, charming and original, Mona (the owner) also keeps her customers smiling through her joyous and genuine content. I love seeing what this small business is up to and keeping up to date with her small farm each day -- we STAN Harrient, Jooj and the goat gang. This nursery is kind, fun, spunky, sustainable and sincere. Plus, it offers amazing opportunities for people to connect (affordable venue rental) and discover the joy of plants -- especially succulents & cacti. On top of all of that, they have the best CLEAN skin care line ever!! Keep doing what you’re doing PP, we love you!!

Visited here with my hubby, and we were both so amazed at how well thought and taken care of this small space was! I heard of the Prickly Pear on Instagram, and coming to Mona's beloved plant sanctuary did not disappoint. We loved the selection of plants, the green house and everything about it especially the goats!! I always enjoy how active they are on Instagram, and how their team really cares about their customers. (Love watching Mona's dance videos! ). Will be visiting again soon!!

The Prickly Pear is my FAVORITE plant shop to visit when I'm in downtown Sacramento! They may only be open Thursdays through Sundays, but it's so worth the wait all week to go in and check out all their amazingness over the weekend!! It's in the coolest old-fashioned home off U Street, and both the bottom floor of the house and the backyard are all part of the business. There's even a barn in the back that you can rent out for events! I've done this, I celebrated my birthday there with a Pot & Sip event, and it was one of my most cherished birthdays to date! The owner, Mona, is extremely earth-conscious, and any products they sell that AREN'T plants are ethically sourced, and usually made by a small business owner, and usually a woman-owned small business at that! Mona has even developed her own skin care line built off the incredible power of prickly pear seed oil. I'm OBSESSED with her Queen of the Night and Morning Majesty face oils, and I use her body scrub every shower! I'm approaching 40 years old, but my skin has never looked better! The Prickly Pear also has locally-made prickly pear jam macaroons, locally-made kombucha on tap for only $5 donation per cup, and boooooy are those booch's tasty! Mona and her husband also have a small farm (not on site), and you can purchase some homegrown veggies in store too! All of that, and I haven't even TOUCHED on all of the amazing plants that are available! LolThe Prickly Pear not only has an indoor "PP Jungle" for all of your common and exotic houseplant needs, but take a walk out the back door and embark on a journey through a landscaped desert oasis complete with dozens of species of cacti, succulents, and other gorgeous plants! Your walk through this desert wonderland leads you to the sweet greenhouse in the backyard where you can grab yourself some cacti and/or succulent babies. You can also browse the wall of locally hand-made pottery for sale, I'm partial to the boobie and booty pots myself! HahaI could keep gushing about the Prickly Pear, but if you've read this far, thanks! Haha Now go check out your new favorite place to spend all your money! And be sure to say hi to Inez when you walk in, she's the AMAZINGLY knowledgeable woman who helps Mona run the shop, and she's the BEST and always super helpful!!

I came to Prickly Pear in January with my friends after finding this shop through BretmanRocks post of the succulent sculpture that was made for him by the amazing shop owner here! The inside of the store is so cool and inviting, I could have stayed in there for hours! Outside is an oasis filled with cacti and my favorite part the Monsteras! You wouldn't think this store is as big as it is from the street but this place is huge and all the plants are gorgeous and the staff is amazing! I love that prickly pear also offers so much more than just plants! I could go on forever but this place is amazing!

I've been visiting the Prickly Pear for several years. I've attended parties and pot n sips both. I'm always amazed by the constant changes and improvements and there is something new to see every time. It's a very pet friendly place. I've brought my dog and cat for field trips!!! The rare houseplants for sale are very impressive, and prices are great. You wouldn't expect to be able to get such gorgeous rare Tropicals in this hidden oasis behind a house! I love bringing family and friends here. With all there is to do I can easily spend an hour here.
