It's a nice place but half the cages/exhibits are empty. Dinos are cool. Def not Worth the ticket price. Staff is nice

We went in late February. It was rainy and a grey day. Many animals were hiding or sleeping. I wish to see a lion but he was nowhere. It can be good experience for kids. Honestly expected more

Going to the zoo is bitter sweet. It's a good place to teach children about wild animals in captivity.... at the expense of captivity. The zoo is creative and quite an enjoyable experience once you look past the animals in captivity part of it all. Most of the places to eat were shut down when we went probably due to the recent weather. We had a good time overall.

Winter time is always hard on the Sac Zoo with so many animals missing or hiding, but still had a great time and the staff was kind and wonderful as always!

I had an amazing time today at the zoo! Today was a brief break from all the constant rain we’ve been getting, so I decided to spend some time looking at these wonderful animals. The zoo was clean, well-maintained, and so beautiful. I’d also like to give a special thanks to Zookeeper Anela, who was a great educational resource during the lion training, and was even kind enough to show a few other visitors and myself a special training with the red pandas afterwards. She created such a welcoming, educational, and entertaining environment that made my experience extra special. Thank you Anela! I will definitely be visiting the zoo again soon.

This zoo is not very big but we did get to see all of the animals which is rare. On that note it would be nice if their individual habitats were a bit bigger. I’ve never seen a lioness so close in my life!! Super cool!

First time exploring the Sac Zoo, and very much enjoyed it! So cool to see a Orangutans, Lioness, Jaguar, Snow Leopard, Cheatahs, Red Pandas, White Rhino, Okapi, Giraffes, Otters, Capybara, Meerkats, Kangaroos, Flamingos, Lemurs, Squirrel Monkeys, and so many birds and reptiles. The zoo has a map at the front, so take a picture of it before you go. There's no paper maps. There's a café that's pretty decent quality, but despite the crowd, the line moves pretty well! There is a gift shop that runs specials. The only difficulty is parking, but seemed to go pretty smoothly for us...maybe we lucked in to it.

We came on a weekday, so the zoo was pretty empty. There were no feeding time today, but it was still fun. The staffs are really nice and they will help you with any questions you have. Order the ticket ahead will get you a cheaper deal. You will find a good varieties of animals in the Sacramento zoo including lion, Tiger, cheetah, snakes, birds, monkeys, etc. They also have some real size dinosaur model which my son was so amazed of. Overall I recommend this for family fun and dates!

Still love our wonderful SacZoo! The docents do a wonderful job offering interesting info and I have always found the grounds to be clean and well maintained. Tonight we went to see the "UNEXTINCT" Exhibit that is on display at night from 5:30-9:00 PM on select days through March 2024. It was very cool!!! We loved all of the parts that had projected animals wandering around and acting naturally (exhibits 2, 6 & 8). The screen shows were pretty neat too and made the park feel like a spooky fun party. There were a couple of spots that didn't use screens and that was a bummer because you couldn't see the projections well at all (exhibits 9 & 10). The neon bamboo and string forest were way cool and now I have a New Year's goal of making my backyard look just as cool. Thanks for bringing another cool adventure to my family, Sac Zoo!

I saw a Tyrannosaurus Rex and some new dinosaurs at the zoo. We saw a white rhinoceros just like the bongos and the flamingos moved to the exhibit that it wasn't a chimpanzee exhibit anymore. We also saw a ring-tailed lemur in the new exhibit. I saw the capybaras in the exhibit just like an anteater. We went to the Sacramento Zoo in the beginning of the year this week.

The sacramento zoo is a historic, local zoo. It is a wonderful place for families. There are many different animals including cheetahs, giraffes, okapi, red pandas, and more! I highly recommend it.

This is a small but immersive zoo with a "close to the animals" feel. Lovely surroundings within and around the zoo.
