I have to start with a ginormous Thank YOU Ronald McDonald foundation!!!! I also want to share a few tips , pay attention. First second you get a chance to connect with your social worker, do it! If I previously spoke to a social worker pre admission I would have had a place to shower, sleep, feel human for a few minutes. Second, bring snacks! Lol , The one lacking star is due to not much food being accessible. My family just went through a double cancer diagnosis, along with my son’s surgery. So we are a family in need of aid. The staff are friendly & helpful!! Bedrooms are beautiful & on the clean side. They could do a tiny better in that area. Thank you for letting me feel grounded & human for a couple hours!!! I am quite familiar with Ronald McDonald ( mother works for corporate) Thank you is not enough!

I have 2 medically complex children and have been referred to the Ronald McDonald house in the past but have never had the need to utilize it before. I went there just to wash clothes midway through a 2 week stay at the hospital. The process of check-in is easy and straightforward. The grounds are immaculately clean. They gave me a tour of the facilities I would be able to access, showed me where I could get food while I was there, and led me to the laundry area. In the laundry room they had spare toiletries which was a godsend because the shampoo at the hospital smelled like a wet ash tray. Their machines were fast and efficient and the toiletries I was able to get were much nicer and helped me feel a little more normal during a very trying time through my child's treatment and recovery. If you have need to utilize the Ronald McDonald house, they were wonderful. I'm not sure what the long stay rooms look like, but I know that the facilities were worlds better than what I had anticipated.

Recently stayed at Ronald McDonald House. In les than 12 hours, my world was turned upside down. My son went from 10 to -100 in a matter of 3 days. Our charge nurse put in a request for a 30-day stay, not knowing my son's current medical needs. One of the front desk girls called me. She told me she got the referral, the rooms were being cleaned, and checkouts were being done. She would call back later to let me know when a room was ready.. I was impressed and a bit excited to possibly get some sleep. I let my nurse know of the call and also the social worker of the news. Not even 10 mins later, I got a call from a different front desk lady telling me they have me on the wait list and the previous girl was new and should never have called me. There is no availability for a 30-day stay. But your more than welcome to park your car in the parking lot. (18 dollard savings per day).I was content with sleeping with my son in his bed or on the pull out bed..I let my social worker and nurse know the lady called back and told me nothing g available for a 30-day stay.Social work changed the total days to 15 days.At some point RMH contacted my nurse to let her know they have a room available for 15 days. Check in 6pm to 8pm Tuesday.Tuesday would be day number 6 in the hospital.I take the bus to the house.Front desk girl quickly took a picture, had me watch a video on the iPad, and sign an agreement. It was a very rushed process. She gave me a packet with a handout, and the other forms were fill in the blank with dates times phone numbers. Those were never completed. The business cards for the shuttle and after house shuttle service were not correct. No wifi password provided. No new parking pass completed she just handed me a blank one.I am 3.5 to 4 hours from home. I arrived with the clothes on our backs.I would go the office and ask where Target, Wal-Mart, farmers market, or Safeway was from the house. All 3 front desk girls would laugh and say, "I don't know, I don't live here."Smirk and go back to texting. Can you please print me some directions to the closet store. You can use your phone to get the directions. My son has my phone in the hospital, or I would. They said your required to stay the night in the room.Well I did not feel comfortable leaving my son over night.Requiring a single parent to stay over night ranthan than come sleep doing the day is discrimination to one's life. If a single parent wants to be at the sHospital at night and sleep during the day should be no questions asked. THEY CANT MAKE YOU CHOOSE DAY OR NIGHT.WE AS PARENRS ARE DEALING WITH CRISIS DYING KIDS. DONT GIVE TIMES HOURS AND WHEN YOU CAN AND CANT BE AT HOSPITAL OR IN ROOM.Discrimination.SONE HAVE DIFFERENT SCHEDULES.The property at first glance was impressive.House was very welcoming.Lots of community food available to cook when you have nothing. After spending time washing clothes and actually getting a moment to close your eyes.Washer took over 80 mins to wash 5 items. Sensor washers suck and take forever to wash.Always blankets, sheets, TOWLES, left in both washers and dryers. Parents waiting to wash clothes but not wanting to be disrespectful of others items. I gathered the cleaning please were the ones using both sets of machines and dryers to turn over the rooms. We as the parents should not have to constantly wait on the cleaners to flip rooms and use all the washer and dryers all afternoon.. 3 days I tried to do laundry. Finally gave up and had to stay up til 1230pm to do my son's laundry. Cleaning crew should have a separate laundry room. They are not in a crisis or on a time crunch to get things done before the Dr or hospital calls to come back to hospital.Bed was miserable. So uncomfortable ? hard memory foam. Not comfy.Under the bed was nasty gross.Bathroom vanity gross with old toothpaste, hair and dirt in dwars. 3 remotes with no directions anywhere .Woke up to cockroaches running across the floor. Patio infested with black widows. Kitchen sick backing up when using disposal. Gross.
