The store is great except for one older Asian female cash register employee with glasses and dark hair that was very rude to me for no reason and made extremely uncomfortable and unnecessary comments to me. I just wanted to purchase my jacket and get out of there asap. Not a good experience. But I still love shopping at REI. If I see that specific employee I will avoid her like the plague.

Been a member at REI since the 80's. Some stuff can be pricey but most of it is worth it. Just remember that w4lm4rt also carries some of the same brands at a lower price.
That said REI branded gear is very good and well made.

REI(Really Expensive Items….lol)has an awesome reputation. ALL items are returnable within one year of purchase. Many of the companies REI deals with has a LIFETIME warranty(Leki, Marmot, Patagonia, etc). You are buying top quality gear at REI thus the price, no second tier gear. Any extreme adventures, REI has you covered. Excellent technical support on the phone is available.

I always have a great experience with this store. Most of the staff that I encounter is knowledgeable and very helpful. Its also worth being a Rei co-op member for the perks you can get from shopping with them.i Highly recommend this store.

Prices keep going up up up.
Love the gear there but now I shop here a little less every year.
If you catch the sales it's much better.
They carry good and very good gear.
The very good gear is kinda pricey

This is in Sacramento California and have an area where they sell used items that were returned at half price don't miss out don't get a good deal

There are better REI stores nearby. Lots of out of stock items and lack of displays, for example only one tent, very few chairs, etc. Probably a condition caused by the homeless activity in the area.
Defeats the point of visiting a brick and mortar if I have to pic my item from a picture or a screen and they run to the back to get it especially if I can just order from Amazon for less.

Astonishing, great service by the REI bicycle team at the Expo Parkway store. I purchased a Pure Cycles 7-speed bicycle in January that I love riding. It fell over during a recent windy day and the derailleur was slightly bent. I brought it in and not only was the derailleur repaired, but they did a full check-up on it, tightening the brakes, cleaning and lubricating the chain. I had it back the SAME day. Outstanding service and excellent customer care by the REI cycle shop. Thank you so much!

I would like to give the shout out for Sophia and Kegan ( the managers) on this location. They helped me to get the bike travel case from another store when the online order was postpone twice and my family needed this for travel. This is what the membership and quality of service has spoken for! Thanks for your help ladies!

The products are good.
Over staffed. When I went with my mother in law this past weekend. There were sooo many staff members. And they were all awful. The first one just pushed their promotion on me and didn’t even help answer my question or help me get into a fitting room. She just wanted me to buy the subscription so she could get credit.
Another girl we asked for help looked so bothered that we asked for help and walked so fast we had to jog to keep up. But when I heard her talk to another customer she was all cheery. Like what the heck. What did we do wrong?
Another employee who was helping in shoes wasn’t super knowledgeable and completed ignores you after he gave me the shoes.
No one there actually cares how you are doing. I don’t think anyone at that store is an expert in outdoors. I would never ask any of them for advice. I wouldn’t trust it.
And finally when we went to the counter the girl checking us out was talking loudly to us about another customer! Excuse me but no! Don’t do that! Super unprofessional!
If you have to go to an R.E.I. The last one that actually had people who knew what they were talking about is the one in Fresno. Go to that one.
If you don’t need an expert and know what you want to buy then yeah this store is okay. I hate giving money to them bc their employees were so awful. ?
