I feel like it's one of the only pet stores where the employees are not only familiar with their products but also know a lot about animals, animal behavior, and can recommend solutions for different issues. Clearly they are all pet lovers and animal parents. I have learned how to avoid urinary blocks in cats, diet changes for kidney issues and how to prevent it in the future, info on track and neuter programs, help with choosing the most efficient kitty litter and graciously carrying heavy bags of it out to my car, as well as providing solutions for allergies and treats without glycerin, etc. They are full of compassion and good insight and always clue me in when there is a sale coming up on things they know I can use. ?

My hubby and I were in the need of 2 things and staff member Angel was amazingly helpful! She showed us how to use the Spot Handi Drink Instant Dog Drinker we purchased, as well as their spout outside to fill it up! Definitely convenient for parks and road trips! She also recommended the company we love, Earth Rated for poop bags! We got the leak-proof Lavender-Scented, the bags are nice and long and they really block the odors! I would definitely recommend this small business that focuses on the wellbeing of your fur child! They have been in business now for 14 years. We'll be back to explore more!

The last time I took him to PetSmart they gave him back to me completely wet. They didn't dry him off at all. And I paid to get his nails done. They did a horrible job on his nails. I was not happy. I'm 100% happy with the job Christina did. She did everything I wanted done. Was very gentle with him. And I definitely plan on coming back again in the future for sure. Would highly recommend bringing your dog here.

6844 Franklin Blvd, SacramentoUpdated for 2024! My family has now been taking animals to this facility for years - since 2014! When we first started coming here, we primarily had Dr. Chapman as our vet, but over time we saw Dr. Sangani more and more. A word of advice: the older reviews for the Dr. that talk about rudeness or lack of bedside manner weren't dishonest - /then/. Since 2014 Dr. Sangani has become our *favorite vet*, his manner of speaking and explaining things to people has become so much more welcoming, understanding and patient. Over the years we have fostered a good relationship with him and the wonderful front staff people. It's a relief to know that we can call at 8am and be able to speak to someone on the phone, get advice on what's going on with our pet, and be told to bring them in for help(usually the same week!). If they can't help us, they will refer us to someone who can, but 9/10 times we've been able to have a quick visit, get an antibiotic shot/anti-inflammatory and be on our way. Dr. Sangani also does X-rays and surgeries on site, and he helped us when our older car broke his hind leg years ago. We came out of that with a tri-pawd cat who lived another year or two, happily stumping around on three legs, before the meds he got every week could no longer keep up with his hyperthyroidism. We have had to make the decision to let multiple animals go due to illness over the years, and every time the staff here are kind and considerate - I feel like they love our animals almost as much as we do, and really see the pain we always have in making that final decision. Our house is full of a bunch of softies, so we have a habit of rescuing strays. Because we bring in so many in-need animals ourselves, we understand why Dr. Sangani does the trips he does. Be aware that for at least a couple weeks (sometimes more) a year, the hospital will be closed as Dr. Sangani does missions (a la Doctors without Borders) to help animals in less privileged countries. I am proud to be supporting a vet clinic that does things like that. 5/5 stars for us, and our 9 furry felines (+1 stray we are fostering at the moment!).

It only took a week for my first visit for new patients. The Dr. explains everything really good and gives you quotes before he does other care and he doesn't do any extra treatment that is not needed. He really cares about animals. I love this Vet.

430 17th St, SacramentoThe first time I went in to have my dog groomed they did an excellent job. The second time unfortunately, it was a different rumor, and she chopped my dogs hair. By that I mean, my dog's hair was uneven and even had spots where her hair was significantly shorter. I have not returned because of that reason. I may give them another chance because of the fact that the first time I took her in, they did an excellent job. It could've just been the groomer. They always say you pay for what you get that is why I took her to this place. Someone suggested that I take my dog there. My dog has been to other groomers and most of them do not do a good job. I have even had the unfortunate experience, where a groomer had to take my dog into the emergency vet because they cut her severely. Hopefully if I return they'll do a good job. I do believe everybody deserves a second chance. They are very kind and seem to be very friendly.

My dog loves the trainers and enjoys coming to class, plus it's a great way to tire him out when the weather is bad. We've been bringing our dog here practically since we got him, starting with the puppy socialization classes and now continuing with weekly classes to reinforce his training and learn new skills. I really appreciate that they offer classes throughout the week on a variety of topics with different trainers, so it never feels stagnant or repetitive. They make dog training both fun and interesting!

4417 Baron Ave, SacramentoAmerican River Canine saved our family! About two years ago, my fiancé and I adopted a German Shepherd named Bear from the Sacramento SPCA. Bear was, and still is, an energetic, fun-loving, sweet dog. He just wasn't friendly towards other dogs or cats. Bear would growl, lunge, and chase any other animal near him. Walking him just around the block was challenging because he would tug and try to go after other dogs and cats. It turns out that what we were interpreting as aggression, was actually pent-up excitement in Bear. Deric's extensive knowledge in psychology along with his years of experience working with dogs opened our eyes on how to better understand and communicate with Bear. Deric helped us work with Bear on commands like "place", "here", "out" and "leave it". Working on these commands seemed more like training for us humans, but it all paid off in the end. Nowadays, Bear is a much more obedient dog who can be in the same room as our cats without growling or trying to run after them. Walking Bear is no longer a scary activity. It is something we can do with ease. We even take Bear out in public places like Home Depot, PetSmart, and Iron Horse. We are also in the process of adopting another dog for our family too! Both Bear and our newer dog attend Deric's doggie daycare, The Nature of Dogs, twice a week. I can honestly say that if it weren't for Deric, we probably would have rehomed Bear. I am forever grateful for the dedication and insight Deric has given to our family. I would 100% highly recommend American River Canine for any of your canine training needs!

She always has a blast at the ranch and I know she's in good hands with someone who loves her as much as I do. It's also nice to leave my baby in a home rather than a kennel, she can snuggle with Starr and watch cartoons and I know she's not lonely or nervous. I recommend the ranch for anyone with a spoiled little dog they want taken care of!

I love to hike and back pack but two of my boys can't handle steep hills or overnight trips anymore and Janet takes excellent care of them for me. She sends me pictures and updates, goes above and beyond with care, and respects all of my wishes and concerns. I did a private session and from that moment forward I just knew she was a perfect fit. I ultimately moved ahead with the board and train which was by far the best decision I ever made. Fast forward over a year later and I continue with her monthly membership service. I learn more and more each training session. And let me just say the progress my dog continues to make I could not have done it without Devon. She goes out of her way to make sure I succeed in training my dog and has also given me the skills on how to be the best dog owner. I highly recommend Devon. She has great training methods and no training question goes unanswered.

Jeff and Mia were very nice and accommodating, meeting us late evening just to see the pups. We couldn’t be happier of Zion! He has brought so much joy to my family and friends. He has a calm demeanor and tons of energy. Plus the bonus is: HE IS A GORGEOUS DOG!

She made sure that our dog was respected every step of the special services and cremation process. She was patient, kind, and understanding of our wants and needs. Because of Abigail, we would 1000% recommend West Coast Pet Memorial Services in Sacramento. And because of her, I know that our dog was loved and cared for. Thank you for respecting our dog, Meebo. We appreciate you and West Coast Pet Memorial Services. For those of you who've lost a pet and decide to get them cremated, I would highly suggest this place. Before the special services (if you want this option) and cremation process, you can have a private good-bye with your pet. They have a private room via appointment only and has water and coffee. The private room viewing with your pet allows you to say good-bye one last time before they are taken to get special services and cremated. Special services is where you get can clay prints or ink prints of paws or noses of your pet, get a lock of your pets hair, etc done for you to have as a memory. In the hallway entrance and private viewing room, there are also urns that you can choose from to put your pets ashes in. I like that there were a lot of options available for us to choose from. Once again, I would highly suggest this place.

Smaller amount of kittens, but the workers really know the personalities of the cats so you can find a good match for yourself.
Since it is a no-kill sanctuary, I'm hoping to find my next Kitty there.

Front Street Animal Shelter
2127 Front St, SacramentoFront Street animal shelter is a really nice and animal shelter with many animals that need a loving home. The shelter has been in Sacramento for many decades. They have a really nice fenced off area where you can get to know a dog you're interested in adopting. They have a very nice cattery where you can see all of the cats that are available for adoption or upcoming for adoption. You scan a QR code for any of the animals that you're interested in adopting and somebody comes to meet you. You're able to ask more questions and able to get to know the animal one-on-one. I highly recommend looking here if you're looking for a family pet. They also run great adoption specials and free vaccination clinics. For example, this month until October 31st you can adopt and then don't count for $5 and a kitten for $25.
