Walkability: Not a great neighborhood for walking.

The hotel is conveniently located right off Interstate 5, only a short drive to downtown Sacramento. The surrounding area might seem sketchy however the hotel ground are absolutely safe. Also, free continental breakfast is good and very useful. And, love the bird in the lobby!

Decent hotel for the price, more just your basic room. Comes with a continental breakfast, gym and pool, theres a small fridge but no microwave. Very clean though and nice views! Walking distance to a few restaurants and gas stations!

Great option for accommodations in this area! I was a bit concerned when I read several disappointed reviews before my stay here, but I think this is a great hotel! We'll definitely be staying again. The best thing about this hotel is how spacious the rooms are. The bathroom has a good sized shower. Surprisingly quiet for how close it is to the freeway. This is a very well taken care of property that doesn't have modern decor or furnishings, but everything was in working order and clean. There are homeless people throughout downtown Sac, and this area is no different, but this was absolutely not an issue. The tent encampment that some folks mention is not next door, but .25 mi down the next block. not even within eyeshot from the hotel entrance. If you aren't expecting perfection or luxury 5 star lodgings, I'm sure you'll love your stay here!Plus, the parakeets in the lobby are really neat!!

I would love to give a higher rating, because the staff were lovely. However, I had room 216, the windows back up to the McDonald's drive thru. So people going thru the drive thru till 2 am and again at 530 am really makes it hard to sleep. "Would you like to try a vanilla iced coffee" is going to haunt my dreams for a while. There was also a smoke detector battery alarm beeping every minute or so somewhere on the floor. I would have asked to change rooms but I was only staying two nights. The room was also very cold, I tried to turn on the heater, but it only pushed out cool air, despite being up all of the way. I slept in my hoodie and used all the available blankets. As others have mentioned the breakfast was waffles, yogurt, fruit, toast and cereal, with OJ and coffee. So a little lack luster. The shuttle service was amazing and the staff were all very nice. A little updating would go a long way to improving satisfation. Wasn't horrible just meh.Rooms: Don't stay in the even numbered 210s unless you want to hear McDonald's all night long.

Mum and I were staying in Sacramento for a few nights, as part of a wide tour of West Coast USA. Governors Inn was a great base for our purposes. We had a vehicle and were situated close to main highways, making it easy to get to, and only a few minutes out of Old Sacramento and lots of great restaurants.Free parking was available for guests.Check-in and check-out were easy. The only staff we encountered were friendly.Rooms were spacious, of good quality and clean. The ONLY reason I haven't given this an overall 5-star rating is because of the breakfast. They do let you know that breakfast service has been reduced due to staff shortages but you're really dealing with some pre-wrapped sweet pastries, fruit, bread (which you will struggle to toast) and juice. We only had breakfast at the hotel once, for this reason. It wouldn't stop me staying there again but I want to set expectations (although I hope they also find the staff they need soon ?)

Had a great experience at the Governors Inn. Stayed while attending a convention. Clean rooms, friendly staff, affordable and a shuttle to the airport and convention center!

The hotel itself was fine. We stayed here for a wine symposium that was held at the convention center and this was the cheapest hotel around. They had a shuttle waiting outside to take us to the convention center which was really nice. The location however is really bad. Bring ear plugs. The traffic is really loud and so is the McDonalds right next to the hotel. It seems to be open 24 hours because I was constantly awaken by the lady taking orders at the drive through yelling “can I take your order” over the intercom.

On Nov 30th I lost my son Richard due to a horrible car accident. He was just 25. I need to get to my sons funeral on the 16th.I had to buy tickets on the Amtrack in order to get Wyoming. The cheapest way with my 3 kids. There was a stop at sacramento had to wait 15 hours for the next train to Utha. With all the stress that I am going through I forgot to take the pull ups from the big suitcases. I had no pull ups and a 3 year old not potty trained and a 14 hour trip ahead. The young man Eric such a wonderful young man. Went out of his way to call his family member to bring me some pull ups. I forever going to be greatful. With the recent loss of my son. I haven't been focus forgetting things more often.Thank you for making my stay so special. In such a pain moment in my life. You brought sunshine to my life today. Then I realized the street name is Richards. I felt as God put me here and Richard is looking after me and his sibilings. In order for us to get to his wife and my grandkids.Amazing customer services. Went beyond. Forever and ever greatful.20 stars. Hotel.Thank you.Sorry My English.Rooms: Clean rooms. Thsnk you.

Really nice establishment didn't realize the pool wouldn't be cleaned because of being off-season I'm from a cold climate so 56° wasn't cold to me. The Continental breakfast was coffee and juice and some packets of oatmeal and wrapped danishes, sliced bread and English muffins. The staff was really wonderful and the shuttle was amazing and so was the driver. The neighborhood was different there was quite a few homeless laying around in the streets when I went to get lunch so I wouldn't suggest walking around after dark in the area. It is in a pretty commercial area not a lot of residential around there's a Denny's and a McDonald's and two gas stations and a Mexican restaurant in walking distance. It was extremely quiet in the building and the room was very clean.

I absolutely love staying here as it is truly my home away from home. I frequently travel to Sacramento for work and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. The staff is amazing, the rooms are very clean and quiet. The lobby is a great place to start my day with coffee, a light breakfast, cute little birds chirping and mellow music playing.

Very large rooms, clean and well appointed. Staff courteous and available. Easy on and off freeway. Would stay here again. Was a great half way stopover for trip thru California. Can't comment on breakfast as we departed early.Rooms: As it's an older hotel, rooms are very spacious, Eating area and lobby as well as parking are inviting and accommodating.Nearby activities: McDonald's around the corner, Old Town Sacramento an easy daytime stroll along the river. Discovery Park is a quick drive where there is able parking.Safety: Well lite in parking area. Always staffed at front desk with secured front door.

I just love that they had parakeets in the lobby! Decent breakfast, although nothing hot like eggs but it was a nice eating area and wonderful relaxing music. The room was nice and huge! There was only one coffee for two people for two days, I had to ask for more.I didn't like that I had to request to get my room done. Then they didn't even do it till the afternoon when we were already back in it. And the gal didn't understand English when I was trying to get more coffee for the room coffee pot.It was a good location, close to old Town and the capital!
