I have a CitiBank checking account for many years. But they are cutting the services in Sacramento or maybe the whole country in the last few years. They closed many branches in Sacramento. All the remaining branches are very busy after that! I decided to close my checking account after they increased the fee for many services. They did a lot of things to step down their operation in Sacramento. But at least the gentleman who helped me close my checking today was very friendly and helpful.

I had the most supportive customer service here from Serena, Rita and Gabriella (manager). I had a difficult issue to negotiate and they went out of their way to help me find the best solution. The bank manager gave me a sound financial recommendation on a decision that I had made, but the difference is that she brought warmth and empathy into the conversation that allowed me to feel heard. I was seen promptly and left thinking that this was the best experience I have ever had in a financial institution.

Bad phone service. Couldn’t understand the lady with heavy accent, asked to transfer to another person and was ignored when asked to transfer to another associate. Left on call for 1hr while I can hear her typing.

Two years ago, put a hold on funds in our business account without notification. Several charges against the account were denied costing us hundreds of dollars. Branch said problem was the fault of the back office on the East Coast. Dealt with us for months in bad faith, stating they would look into the matter but seemingly never doing it. No explanation, no apology. Took 6 months to issue check for remaining funds, only after we complained to the Consumer Financial Protection Board.
Last week, failed to provide any notification that CD was maturing and rolled it over at 1% interest when new CDs were paying 4%. When I asked to cash it out they offered me the 4% rate. When i declined, they then charged me more than $100 to cash it out despite it having earned less than $10 in interest during the week it had been rolled over.
A truly disgusting place to do business with.

Shortly after opening a new credit card with Citi, they stopped ...accepting cash payments on it; check or money order ONLY. Have you ever heard or seen any bank where you can NOT pay your bills in cash???? I did not use their card in 2022 at all and still don't want to...

Terrible customer service. I made an appointment to open a new account. Arrived the person who I had appointment with called out. I asked why they didn't email or call me and they replied don't know who has appointments with who. The staff people don't care. There were only two people ahead of me and already with staff people when arrived. I waited over 30 minutes and no luck. Terrible bank. Don't bank here.

In regards to customer service and front desk employee "Ligida" at this branch.I walk in with 2 bankers simply sitting there, ask to see a banker due to needing to open account to process a very large amount today only. Am told appointments only and the next one is Wednesday. Today is Monday. It's very important. Am stared down by the employee and bluntly told no, no other options. Well you sure make me want to do business with you.I've had 5 star service at all other banks, never was turned away, upgraded myself to the max, and have encountered wonderful bankers who built a relationship with me(especiall Terry). Now am disappointed in Citi for closing a lot of branches, not working on their customer service employees like Ligida, and apparently suddenly requiring appointments for what takes 15 minutes max... No longer interested in opening any more accounts with Citi.

I just opened a new Checking and Savings account with CITI Bank. The banker who helped me was unprofessional and disorganized. The day I made my appointment he was moody and irritated. When I showed up for my appointment he was cheerful, over the top, and overly talkative. After sitting with him for an hour, I found out 3 weeks later that he failed to send me my debit card which is unheard of at a Bank with a reputation like CITI Bank. I spoke with customer service about his behavior and irresponsibility, and management informed me that he would be reprimanded. He is Asian and sits at the desk closest to the door to the right, as you walk in. I felt that he treated me less formally because I am African American. I watched him help other customers and noticed he was far less animated and more professional with Asian and White customers. He was also more consistent and friendly with them.
