Purchasing a home is an important milestone in many peoples' lives. Our experience with Carrie and her team (Joseph Croteau) created a lot of concerns which led to this honest review.Experience/credentials:-Seems they have local experience with different neighborhoods. This is important for advising buyers and sellers.-Lacking in overall professionalism and skillset in real estate transactions. Examples: Lack of objectivity when dealing with dual-representation for buyer and seller (Carrie & Joseph both presented bias towards seller, in our situation), not taking ownership of unresolved issues, errors found on contracts that needed correction when they were identified by us (buyers).-Lack of accountability in facilitating the transaction and fully carrying out contract properly. Example: Communication was very timely before we were in contract. However, once in contract, email and text communications were unclear and all of the follow-up around contingency release dates, coordinating with title & escrow company, transaction coordinator, etc. fell onto the buyers. This is not supposed to be the norm for a proper real estate transactions with reputable, experienced realtors.-Our lenders even made a comment after we closed escrow that this was one of the messiest transactions and it was clear the real estate agents did not have your best interest in mind. It was concerning for them to see.Why 1 star:-Multiple examples of mistakes and lack of follow-through mentioned above, which is not what you would want for real estate purchases-Trust was lacking as soon as we were in contract. The communication to us (tone, cadence, etc.) suddenly shifted after our offer was accepted and it became very clear that there was a bias towards the sellers versus representing us as the buyers. This is an extreme red flag, when realtors cannot act professionally and represent their clients on both sides fairly and equally.-After all of the headache and transaction finally closed, we received emails where Carrie had somehow added us to a distribution list and set up a new account (without our consent) for something called Homebot. We were shocked not only because this was completely unprofessional, but also because it makes us truly question the ethics of this business. Especially if they would create an account like this on your behalf, without your consent. In comparison, we have worked with other realtors who truly act accordingly and take their roles as agents for buyers/sellers seriously. If trust and ethics are not present in a real estate transactions, it is a recipe for disaster. Hopefully this honest review is helpful for others.

I absolutely love this woman, Carrie is "THE BEST" I have ever seen. Carrie sold my mother in laws house in 24 hrs (Rancho Cordova), sold my house (Sac./Elk Grove) in 3 days, and sold my parents duplex rental (W.Sac.) in about 1 week. If you have questions Carrie has the answers, she had my back from beginning to end. Carrie staged the houses & held Open House on each sale. She even made all repairs needed at a cheaper price than anyone else could do, and with no money out of my pocket for any repairs. All costs were paid at the end of the sale, this was such a blessing to me and my family because while Carrie was selling my house she was helping me find a new home in Sutter Creek, CA. I would recommend Carrie Monroe to anyone and I will always go to Carrie for any future sales or buys. Thank you so much Carrie for all that you do. You are such a hard worker and made my life so much easier taking all the stress off my back, you made it that much easier, I wish I had more to sale because I miss working with you already.

Working with Carrie for the home buying process was great. She's efficient and professional. Also informative of the ins-and-outs you'll go through buying a home. I'm so pleased with my experience, and know who to turn to when I'm in need later down the road.

Carrie is such a great realtor to work with. I'm honestly leaving with lots of advice and knowledge for being a first time home buyer. Also I'm so happy with my home, Carrie worked hard to get me the house and all the details I needed for a good deal. I know I'll reach back out to her once I'm in need again, or anyone else I know who needs to buy or sell a home. She'll be my realtor from here on out.

Did not disclose the 15 thousand in repair the home needed including a dead air conditioning unit. It took 24 hours to get any responce at all according to my Agent and up front I was clear that we do not buy shacks as is. If major mold or structural damage is found that we were not going to carry the burden all by ourself. I wonder after being accepted and then out bid to cover the cost of the Air Conditioner if the only reason we were called back was for to pay the inspection. I plan to file with the DRE about disclosure, This was a nice home from a distance and I believe everyone should attend their own inspection. They even tried to hide the mold by cutting through on layer of flooring and calling the next layer wood but I asked them to run the blade again and there it was. If we had not talked to a neighbor we would not have known what happens when the High School opens in the fall, backing up the entire street in front of our driveway with no street parking. Looks great in pictures that hide the gashes in the cabinets and the smallest oven I have ever seen and a stove top missing knobs etc. Horible at disclosing.

Carrie was faced with a very challenging short sale with our "dream"house that turned into a nightmare as it became substantially underwater relative to our purchase price and generated ongoing litigation regarding construction defects to boot. Only by working with Carrie who was such a thorough and hardworking professional were we able to keep our sanity/nerve through the mind bending ups and downs of a short sale ! Working with her was the only bright spot in that sad but unavoidable process. Any questions/concerns we had she was always available by phone, text, or email and provided us with an explanation or just recognized our need to vent in response to yet more paperwork! Thank you so much for all you did, Carrie.

Yes, I'm very happy with Carrie's diligence and advice in helping me find my perfect Sacramento home. This was my 4th home purchase (in my lifetime) and I was pretty picky. Once Carrie understood (rather quickly) what I was looking for she became even pickier than me in helping me weed through alot of possible homes in my price range. Honestly, she saw bad things that I didn't catch and talked me out of more homes than she recommended. She knew what wasn't going to meet my long-term needs better than I did, ha. Eventually, after quite a long and voluminous search we found the perfect home at the right price. Also, I was impressed with Carrie's follow through and commitment all the way through the closing and taking over the keys and even helping me with some light repair work long after the commission had been earned. I think Carrie loves what she does, she knows the Sacramento real estate market very well and she truly cares about every client that she takes on. I would and will work with her again without hesitation... Thank you so much, Carrie!

I had the experience to work with Carrie on the sale of my home and one word to describe my experience is "Perseverance" Carrie was faced with a very challenging short sale with a home that was beat up from the renter, needed some pretty significant re-modeling, had a mortgage with Fanny Mae (which is the most challenging lender to work with on a short sale), the home had renters that wouldn't move out - pay rent - or cooperate with the selling efforts, a housing market that was experiencing unprecedented challenges working with greedy investors with very unforgiving purchasing practices dropping out of deals last minute while not putting down a deposit, and tremendous up and down swings in the market value of the property - BUT... Carrie stuck with it and battled through all of the challenges even when I lost my patience and ability to deal with the compounded financial challenges that I had experienced with VERY BAD RENTERS. In the midst of me losing my hope; Carrie took the reins and management of everything - she told me to sit back and let her take care of it...And she did. The sale wouldn't have taken place if I had a different Realitor. I owe Carrie much more than the very minimal $$ she could have made in commissions on the sale of the home and at the very least to show my appreciation is to recommend her services.

Carrie was amazing in helping me purchase my first home, I know very little about real estate and she made everything so easy for me. She was very proactive with my lender which was a huge help. Any questions I had she was available anytime, by phone, text, or email. Highly recommended!
