Absolutely TERRIBLE people to deal with. I manage my mom's affairs and although I previously jumped through their internal POA hoops and was on record (nevermind we have existing POA documents), they somehow not only no longer recognize me but they also refused to help get this situation sorted out. Agent wouldn't even transfer me to a supervisor to look into it all. It should be illegal for institutions to not honor POAs that have been legally executed. It's hard enough dealing with loved one's affairs but for stuff like this to be allowed is ridiculous.

CalPERS is horrible. They terminated my retirement family medical coverage with Kaiser. I have 19 phone calls with CalPERS to fix this. I have to call back Monday because their computers are down. That will be my 20th phone call in 2 months. This medical coverage costs me $2100 / month CalPERS deducts from my retirement check.

Survivor benefits has been a nightmare!I submitted my application almost 3 months ago. They told me it would take 60 days. I called back on the 63rd day, application hadn’t even been touched by anyone. You can’t speak to the anyone who is processing your application, they send a message & you have to wait 5 business days for a response. They claimed they called twice but couldn’t leave a message. I have an Apple iPhone, we ALL know we can look at our voicemails in text form, I mean duuuuhhhh, when you catch people lying. They never reached out to me via mail after “claims” they couldn’t get through on my phone.I have buried my parents & want to be done with all of this, but I have to wait on who before I can close these chapters & move on with my life?CALPERS

The absolute worst state agency I've ever done business with. After 26 years of state employment, I was placed on disability in 2007.Calpers is now taking money from me for "retroactive Health benefits".I just had over $4,000 taken by Calpers with little explanation. From what I've learned on this matter is that state agencies calculated employee's service incorrectly and now Calpers wants the money that they claim was incorrectly overpaid. The employees have no knowledge of this. It is directly the fault of various state agencies. Taking money from a person who is on disability because it's easier than collecting from the agency that is responsible.

I am trying to open a claim for my dad with a properly documented POA for the state of California that they refuse to accept. I now have contacted the lawyer who wrote up the deposition. They are absolutely hopeless!

Your assistance in helping me get any resolution to retrieving my refund has been appalling. Over 60 days with no response or resolution in site.

This company is horrible! They prey on our most vulnerable citizens. After paying in for 30 years, along with up to 900% rate increases, my mom finally needed service. She was approved, but they find any loophole not to pay. They have denied 80% of our needed services. Some of the lame excuses they have come up with:"Time stamped prior to serves rendered"The caregiver logged in at 11:59 am instead of the approved 12:00 noon!!! Are you kidding me!!??!!Another denial: "Not covered service". We had to ask what that was. We had approval for bathing and dressing (you must show both services on log notes) the log only showed "bathing". Are they stupid enough to not think that dressing was also part of that service!!??!! Claim was denied. Anyone who even works for CalPers Long Term Care should be ashamed!! If they show up for work one minute early do they not get paid?? Frickin idiots!

So excited to give CALPERS the stars deserved. Before you walk in the door, security greets you with the best service. Employees are very pleasant and helpful. CalPERS made my retirement process smooth like an R&B song. Thank you for tuning into my needs and have a great life.

My Mother is a retired teacher who has this long term care insurance. They find reasons to not pay every month. The paperwork is never complete or done correctly. You call multiple times, and there is always something new that's missing or a form that hasn't been submitted. I actually sent in the forms personally by email, and then call, and guess what! Need another months forms. It's obvious they simply don't want to pay. Horrible crooked insurance company.

Got a letter in the mail stating that they needed my updated address as it didn't match the one they have on file (I've moved twice in the last year). So I go online to their website (one option they list to fix this), but I'm locked out of my account after picking the "wrong answer" when verifying by choosing the "address that matches one of your previous addresses." The address was correct, but apparently, CalPers didn't think so. So I resorted to calling the number (another option in the letter I received) and went through all of the automated "Push this number for..." rigmarole. Finally got to the option "For an address change" and was told by the automated system that address changes cannot be made over the phone... Uh, CalPers seems to be run by idiots. Whoever okay-ed that automated service needs to lose their job. Incompetent business.
