I knew I had a problem with my hip. It was determined I had mild hip dysplasia and a torn labrum. After seeing 4 surgeons who kept insisting it was my back or I just needed PT, Dr. Jamali confirmed I needed my labrum repaired. The surgery was done and 7 years later I am still active! I gave up running but I cycle, walk for miles, and ski at least twice a week during the season. I am so grateful to Dr. Jamali. He is kind and very well qualified. Thank you Dr. Jamali for ending my pain.

After an emergency surgery done wrong, my docs said I needed to wait 18 months or longer to correct the rods/pins in my hip. I was so lucky to find Dr Jamali. He was able to do the surgery and I will always be grateful. He is kind, compassionate, and smart! His office staff are excellent. I would recommend him to anyone wanting the best care.

Dr. Jamali and his team are excellent. I was referred to Dr. Jamali following an accident and from day one he explained clearly the processes I would need to go through in order to repair my hip and upper leg. I was impressed with his integrity in not jumping straight to a surgical solution. Dr. Jamali involved me in all the decision making and discussions about my treatment. He explored various options with me and was always up front about what and why we were following the various types of treatment. Ultimately I had surgery and he has improved my mobility considerably. I am hopeful that eventually I will fully recover and have full functionality back. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Jamali and his team. Courteous, informative, efficient and so friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Jamali to anyone. Thank you for your excellent care and attention.Andrew Jacobs

I highly recommend Dr. Jamali to anyone that is looking for an orthopaedic surgeon that will work with you to develop a plan specific to your needs. I came to Dr. Jamali after seeing several other doctors who had no plan other than getting a cane and/or walker and accepting significant immobility for the foreseeable future. Dr. Jamali cared enough to really listen to me and develop a pragmatic treatment plan that helped me fully understand what was going on with my hip and ultimately decide to have it replaced. I have gone from not being able to walk to the end of block to returning to enjoying my active life of hiking, river rafting, kayaking, paddleboarding, camping, etc. with confidence. His focus on long-term outcome translated into being sure my leg length was right (I honestly cannot tell that I have a "non-OEM" hip) and providing a recommendation for the right physical therapist to get me back in action. He and his team are kind, caring, and professional. I remain deeply grateful for their outstanding care and ultimate concern for patient well-being.

I had hip dysplasia but did not know it. I was an avid tennis player and found myself in constant pain.Dr. Jamali changed all that. I was initially reluctant to have a hip replacement so ultimately we decided on an attempted repair, which probably would’ve got me through if not for arthritis, which developed in both hips.Dr. Jamali wasted no time in getting me scheduled for my first replacement in January 2012 and my second on the right side in May 2012.I was careful to follow his advice and that of the physical therapist and was back to all normal activities, including tennis, within months.I hike the hills and mountains of the Sierras and have walked many miles in Europe.I am able to do everything! After interviewing three orthopedic surgeons, I can honestly say that I feel very fortunate to have partnered with Dr. Jamali. He is the best and his office staff is very, very kind and efficient. There is no question in my mind that if any further intervention is needed, Dr. Jamali is for me!

I was in an auto accident, and my hip leaked synovial fluid which cascaded into needing an excision of the cyst that formed and then a total hip replacement. Other Orthopedist's didn't know what to do about the cyst, Dr. Jamali was able to remove it (it was quite extensive), and 5 weeks later I had the hip replacement. My recovery was great! then 2 years later Dr. Jamali replace the other hip. I am a yoga teacher and have regained full function, strength and flexibility. He's an amazing surgeon, attentive and thorough. Thank you !

Dr. Jamali did my shoulder in March 2016. I had a torn rotar cuff and he did a wonderful job and I have not had any problems since. It was at one time that I couldn't even put my left arm up pass my shoulders but now 100%. Thank you Dr. Jamali.

I was/am a Kaiser patient. Body damaged at work. Kaiser Occupational Medicine X-rayed my damage and said: "Your ________ is not broken- return to work." Back to work, more damage. Back to Kaiser, "Not broke, go work." Finally got to Dr. Jamali. He persisted and found the exact damage. Very helpful in my case. He listened, looked, and found the problem. A real Doctor! Thank yous to him and his staff.

I am 61 and have had 8 orthopedic surgeries on 6 joints with 6 different surgeons (lots of contact sports), and I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Jamali and his office. About 8 yrs ago my hip started a dull ache after I fell while rock climbing. When my general practitioner saw my X-ray he said he’d never seen such damage in someone my age. I talked to my roller hockey buddy (an emergency room doc) who recommended Dr. Jamali’s program. Dr. Jamali looked at my X-rays and said I had broken up the socket (it looked like the coast of Dalmatia) and I could try for either replacement or resurfacing. He recommended the latter in my case, also noted that I could wait some. I spent a year waiting and working out on a stationary bike trying to help it, but eventually it got so wiggly that I scheduled a resurfacing with him.Leading up to the operation I saw how his office is innovative with insurers and completely transparent about costs, and he had me fully informed prior to surgery. On surgery day he was clearly thrilled to be there and totally focused like a track athlete; after surgery he was the same but like after a competition that he had won. He reviewed the surgery and the prognosis, and gave me careful instructions on post-operative care and follow-up visits. I soon became as active as I was in my 30’s including strenuous hiking, bicycling, and not only roller but ice hockey (am soon starting my 5th season: in my 3rd season I dislocated my shoulder and Dr. Jamali referred me to one of the best rotator cuff surgeons on the West coast who is the only surgeon I know on par with Dr. Jamali, but that shoulder surgeon is personally a jackass while Dr. Jamali is a wonderful fellow). Other than the hip scar I cannot tell that I have had a hip operation and often forget except at airport security. In all my interactions, Dr. Jamali was direct, to the point, and honest, while also affable, polite, respectful, and friendly. His office staff were marvelous; well-informed, helpful, timely with communication and congenial. One of them is an etymologist, and all were extremely competent. I thank my lucky stars for the referral to Dr. Jamali.

I have to say that Dr. Jamali is a GREAT specialist. He is very knowledgeable and upfront on your case but professional and sweet at the same time. I never felt rush on my appointments he takes the time to explain things thoroughly. His staff are all friendly. I have been to both the Sacramento and Walnut Creek offices and both are great. You won’t regret coming here. If you are in need of a great specialist for the hip, knee or shoulder consider Dr. Jamali and his staff. Thank you Dr. for all your help and continuous support. :)
