I have not put a negative review in 8 years ( only 1 until now in my life) but after this mornings experience I feel compelled to do just that. I took my 2 1/2yr old 93# puppy for a hair cut and nails. Upon arriving I was told everything the grooming center cannot do rather than approach me with a positive attitude and discuss how to approach my pet. I will tell you Amy from this location has always done a great job. This other person sounded putout that I even came back. I thought a groomer would have enough pet experience to handle pets. But no. I was met with a horrible attitude of "we have these notes and I'm going to charge you full price but we won't be able to do his legs or nails". My verbiage not hers. I was met with "oh that's Deke". Not even a good morning. Went straight for her notes. If this person has a 6# Havanese I'm sure she is fine. Given any push back by the pet I'm not sure I can say professional. Sounded like she'd been there some years but still can't take charge. And I tip for this? Shame on me.

In store experience in Roseville has been excellent. Petco on Douglas Blvd, Roseville offers quick, convenient and personal service. They offer a good selection and are typically well stocked. The store and restrooms are well maintained. The groomers do a good job caring for my dogs too. It's a bonus that the pets who bring their people to the store are well behaved. (Most of the people are too).
The Petco website, however, is subpar. The repeat delivery option doesn't disclose that shipping cost will be added or what they will be. I tried to align my orders to avoid shipping charges but they can't be modified--only deleted.
The search tool--even using quotes--brings up unrelated items. For example, "small animal hay" search lists treats without hay and "GloFish Sea Green Grass Plant Fluorescent Under Blue LED Light Aquarium Decor". "Rabbit food" brings up ferret treats and water bottles. Filters don't filter properly. Can't search by size or price. Paypal link is useless as it always gives me an error code. The best I can say is the website beats the instore prices, sometimes by a lot. So to get the best price, I order online for store pickup.

Always a good experience @Petco! The gentlemen employee even carried the bucket of litter out to my car! I appreciated that as I have a bad shoulder and the bucket was heavy.

Excellent customer service in the grooming department. They treat our dogs gently. Our dogs know the grooming department and are always eager when they get there.

There are numerous grievances. When I arrived to get my pet’s rabies vaccination the syringes are already preloaded and I asked the vet tech to kindly mix the vial and load the 1cc syringe properly per manufacturer’s instructions. She was very reluctant to do so and said that it did not matter. I politely insisted and then she read the manufacturer’s directions and realized that my concern and my request were valid.
The Petco website advertises the rabies shot for a certain price and when I arrived I was told it was 3 1/2 times the price that was advertised on the website. I asked what the additional charges were for. I was told that they did not know. I asked if they could please find out and they said they could not.
As I was leaving, the vet tech made a snide remark that it did not really matter whether the vial for the vaccine had been shaken per the directions by the manufacturer and I explained to her that I was involved in a very thorough research study at UC Davis veterinary school that proved otherwise and that it is also simply stated on the manufacturer’s insert and as a PhD, I have personally witnessed multiple dogs dying from this not being administered correctly. I’ve even published a book on the subject, I am considered a leading expert on the subject.
When I left I noticed that my receipt for the rabies vaccine states that my dog was examined by a Veterinarian. There was no veterinarian present and there was no examination whatsoever conducted. The receipt also erroneously states that and non-existent examination showed normal ranges for the cardiovascular system, the skeletal system, eyes, ear, etc. etc. while no examination was conducted.
A veterinarian who was not present provided a pre-created signature that was put on the receipt. It also states on the receipt that the owner, me, reported that the dog had been eating normally and behaving normally. No one asked me any question about my dog’s pre-vaccination status before, during, or after the administration of the vaccine.
I found it also interesting that when the young man first greeted me he asked me to place my dog on the scale and he never looked at the scale. I had to tell him how much my dog weighed as he looked away, distracted on his iPad.
I am absolutely dissatisfied with the fraudulent information that was put on my receipt, the bait and switch for the price of the vaccine, the fact that nobody was willing or able to tell me what the additional costs were, the other unprofessionalism and lack of safety in administering the vaccine per the instructions provided by the manufacturer, and the utter disregard for my animal’s safety.

Staff is friendly, good variety of products. Just wish it was a little neater. It can be difficult to move around when they are trying to stock the sales floor because they have such a small area. Too bad they couldn't take over the old OSH nextdoor to them, it would provide so much more room for them to operate efficiently, and successfully. Petco is a great place to shop
