##BEWARE - VERY DISHONEST BUSINESS##
I paid my shipping deposit and reserved it. Just to get a phone call about 20 minutes later to say that somebody is in the store buying it right now.
This means they allowed somebody to take MY car that I had reserved.
Absolutely disgusting way to do business.

On June 19, 2024, my wife and I purchased a 2022 Toyota Highlander from CARMAX. the vehicle had a little over 17,000 miles and was in excellent condition.
When we arrived at CARMAX we were assisted by Salim Salim. I advised him that we had seen a certain vehicle, the Highlander, on the website that we were interested in seeing. Salim had the Highlander brought around to the front of the showroom for us to inspect. After checking over the Highlander we took it for a test drive. We were very satisfied with the Highlander, although it’s difficult to really evaluate the vehicle after a short test drive. However with the 10 day, no
question asked return policy, we decided to purchase the Highlander.
As much as we have never enjoyed the ordeal of buying a vehicle, this was a much different experience. Salim, our sales rep. was polite and respectful with answering all of our questions and concerns. We never felt pressured by Salim. We then competed the purchase and took our vehicle home.
The first thing I did after getting home was to have my personal mechanic do a thorough inspection of the vehicle. He advised me that the Highlander was in excellent condition except that the left rear shock absorber had a leak. He gave me an invoice to replace both rear shocks. I contacted CARMAX service department, Alexsi, and advised her of the needed repair. A few moments later she gave me authorization to have the repair completed and that I would receive reimbursement. I received reimbursement within 10 days.
My experience working with CarMax was exceptional. Every person I dealt with was polite and helpful. I would highly recommend CarMax to anyone planning to purchase a vehicle.

I've bought several vehicles over the years here. I've always had great customer service, listening to my vehicle needs & Carmax always pays top dollar for my trade-ins.

Relatively good experience here all around with an exception of long wait times for processing despite the numerous employees that are lurking around the establishment. Everything else was pretty straight forward and most importantly, offered me a pretty penny for my new vehicle that I had second thoughts on. ( a grand or so higher than most other offers I’ve received)

I was sold a vehicle that was leaking oil. I had to take it back to them 4 times before they fixed the issue. Not long after the transmission went out. The warranty they sell is horrible as I have been without my vehicle for 3 weeks and counting.. I'll now have to spend thousands of dollars to rent a vehicle because of them not following through promptly to get the needed repairs done on my truck. This will be the last vehicle I purchase from carmax as they sell vehicles with issues and don't follow through promptly on fixing them.
Edit: carmax was able to help with a rental which did help. Assurant on the other hand is awful.

It was a great experience to use Carmax to sell my car. I got a quote online, took it to the dealership and everything was complete in about 2 hours. Great service and very professional. I highly recommend Carmax!

The actual purchasing experience went pretty smoothly but we paid cash for the truck so we didn’t experience the financing process.
My biggest issue was with the condition of the truck when we got to see it. It was pretty dirty inside. The carpet appeared to have been cleaned. The inside was barely wiped down. There was a considerable amount od what appeared to be dog hair still in the seats and door panels.
I don’t believe many of the checks were actually performed as the windshield wipers were shredded, the air filter under the hood was covered in oil and dirt and the cover was not clipped in completely.
It just made me wonder how much of the documented checks were actually done.
We decided the truck was still worth purchasing as it fit most of our needs and the cleanliness was correctable but I have done alot of cleanup and maintenance to make sure its up to date.
The guarantee CarMax puts on their vehicles was a motivator also. I knew I could return it if
if I felt uncomfortable.
We’ve had the truck over a month now and have put a few thousand miles on it and I am overall happy I made the purchase and would still recommend CarMax.
The people were great and there is no pressure to buy.
I would definitely use them for another vehicle purchase.

It was one of the easiest ways I have ever sold a car. No hassle and no games played. I love the fact that it is what it is. They give you a price and you either like it or not, no pressure to sell at all. And the check process was even easier. Went to the bank to deposit my check and the funds were available the next morning. Now I am going to buy a new car with my money. Thank you CarMax

Absolutely terrible. My husband had an apt at 12:30. Confirmed the day before after test drive and completing the financing that he would pick up the car next day at 12:30. Goes in, they don’t have any apt for him set up and the car is not ready. 3.5 hours later, he’s finally getting the keys.

I appreciated greatly the ease of the entire buying experience. My interactions with each of the staff members was cordial and non-pressuring. Explanations of the process were easily understandable and no one made me feel that my questions were an inconvenience. Overall I would purchase my next vehicle with Carmax again in the future. And I love my car!

Smooth from start to finish! Such a relief compared to dealing with a typical auto dealership. No gimmicks or tricks. No dreaded finance manager experience!
Our transaction gentleman was awesome and so was our closing docs person.
