I donated to this organization today, and I almost went back to collect my donations. I was taken back by the attitude of the staff. I inquired about what the charity was about, and this was the only thing that was positive. After years of donating to the Children’s Receiving Home (they now only take new items) I wanted to donate locally. Twice by two different people I was asked if I was donating money. After sorting out the clothing items they wanted they acted put off. I even had to ask for a receipt.
The reviews about this organization seem accurate both good and bad. It is a shame that a place that calls itself a charity is like this. I have never been asked if I was donating money by a thrift store. This was a very tacky exchange. I feel bad for the young people who aren’t getting the potential benefits from the management/staff.
The only reason I considered taking back my donation was to take it to a charity that would treat it with respect. 90% of the clothing they took was from Nordstroms. When I got home I shared my experience with my wife, and she said she had a similar experience with this organization a few years ago.
I was extremely disappointed. A person shouldn’t have a bad experience while donating to charity.

Well organized, clothing is in a separate room from furniture. Good prices, clean and friendly staff. Not a huge selection for men but I’ve seen less.

Everyone loves this store because of the cause. Well I'm here to tell you that cause is bs. Compassion Planet is a scam. I was one of the aged out foster kids that they "help" and hire to work. Compassion Planet saying that "all the proceeds go to aged out foster youth and youth at risk in the area" is a lie. While all the upper ups are having 5 vacations a year to Hawaii I'm over here begging for hours, asking for counseling help, housing help, work help, barley being able to pay for food just any type of help, wondering what I did to deserve such terrible treatment. Not to mention how unorganized, unprofessional and straight up rude they are to their aged-out foster youth employees who they are fully aware have mental health problems and make sure to push our buttons instead of helping us grow. Compassion Planet has said they never fire anyone unless if it's because they are physically aggressive. Well for me they did everything in their power to make me wanna quit. Out of no where they started messing with my schedule and changed it so it wasn't consistent, then they cut me to 1 day, then they wouldn't let me work at any of their locations except in sac which they know I don't have the gas to commute. Every time I would ask why are you doing this to me they always said that they were just way too busy. I started wondering the actual reason on why I'm getting this treatment and so I went to ask myself is is it because I'm not Christian like 90% of this company? Why do they trust the new Christian girl with money but not me who has worked there over 3 years? Weird. Why does she get to steal all of the hours? What did I do to deserve this? They don't care about the kids at all. All they care about is how much money they are making and how they look to the community. Not about the help that the kids here are begging for. It's not just me who feels this way I'm speaking for a handful of young adults who have been through compassion planets program. So please next time you shop at Compassion Planet keep my story in mind.

Compassion Planet has become a source of disappointment for me. As an aged-out at risk foster youth and former employee, I had hoped for the support they promised. However, I found their claims of donating the proceeds to helping and supporting at risk aged out foster youth to be false, as I witnessed upper management enjoying lavish vacations while I struggled with basic needs. The staffs disorganization, unprofessionalism, and disregard for the mental health of their aged-out foster youth employees only added to my frustration. Despite their claim of not firing anyone except for physical aggression, they went out of their way to make me feel unwanted by abruptly changing my schedule, reducing my hours, and restricting my location options. I couldn't help but wonder if this treatment was due to my religious beliefs or lack thereof, as a non-Christian in a largely Christian organization. It's very disheartening to see that their focus is on profit and appearance rather than truly helping those in need. My story is not unique; there are other young adults who share similar experiences with Compassion Planet. I encourage you to keep my story in mind if you choose to support Compassion Planet in the future.

This store is incredible! I found so many beautiful vintage pieces that would be expensive elsewhere. They even do occasional $1 sales, which are a steal! The staff are kind and helpful as well. Finally, The store is small so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming. I’m obsessed!

The prices of the thrift store are great! They have a work program that supports local foster children and prepares them for the working world! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!!

My favorite thrift in the area! Both the home and clothing section. Nice pieces for good prices.

The prices at this place are absolutely insane now. They literally have tags that say eBay prices and higher. I would rather buy from eBay and have it show up conveniently at my doorstep. Nothing thrifty about this place. I love their mission statement, so extra star for that.

Only thing decent was the prices for used items. The customer service was terrible. There were three teenage boys playing up at the front behind the counter and weren’t helpful with where the line was supposed to be. Seemed odd to have three boys stuck at one register and goofing off while on the job. Guess that’s how kids get paid at work these days.
