I typically don't write reviews, but I am compelled to share my recent experience with A&B German Car Care (automotive repair shop), which has been the worst I've ever had. The AC in my son's 2006 Mini Cooper stopped blowing cold air, so I searched for a nearby place to get it fixed and found A&B German Car Care in Rocklin, which had high ratings.
On July 12, I scheduled an appointment, and following the diagnosis, I was told that the compressor needed to be replaced due to damage. The job cost was estimated to be around $1500, and I agreed to proceed. However, after the compressor was replaced, the issue persisted. The Shop then wanted to charge $1200 to replace the "fan" and an additional $1500 to replace the condenser. In summary, they were asking for over $4k to fix something that another shop was able to do for $1500 within two days. Furthermore, the car was in and out of the shop for over the course of three weeks.
During this time, my husband called the Shop close to 20 times, but most of the time, we received the same response: "We don't know what's wrong with the AC; we're working on it." The lack of communication was astounding. At the end of the third week, when they attempted to change the condenser, my patience with them was " running low". My husband asked to be reimbursed . The mechanic replaced all the changed parts and installed the old ones, and we took the car somewhere else. I documented every call with the date, time, and notes of the conversation because I was considering contacting the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR).
In conclusion, I would advise others to save their money and go elsewhere for automotive repairs. They either didn't know what they were doing or were trying to overcharge for their poor service. It felt as though they were attempting to take advantage of the situation. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

First, I have been going here for years with work being done on my vehicle in addition to the exceptional customer service from Garrett, who is the service advisor. However, my recent experience with A&B has been extremely unsatisfactory. During this time, I took my vehicle for a diagnostic check surrounding a Check Engine Light. Continuously, the vehicle has been misdiagnosed for a multitude of vacuum leaks, faulty oxygen sensors, and a MAF sensor repair. I’ve continued to bring my vehicle back and forth to A&B within the span of seven drop offs to their shop. Despite this, they have improperly diagnosed and made unneeded repairs toward the underlying issue causing the CEL. As a result, the same check engine light is currently on and my vehicle has not been properly repaired. It’s important to note that the repairs that were done surrounding the CEL may have been done in hopes to diagnose the original CEL issue; however, this was not communicated ahead of time when I was assured the issue was diagnosed and pinpointed to one faulty part after another. Also, to pick up my car from the mechanic, not even 10 miles of driving the check engine light turned back on. This illustrates a lack of diligence and thoroughness toward inspecting the vehicle after the repair. I would think that that car would be drive tested afterwards but evidently it wasn’t or not to a proper standard. Additionally, it is impractical to expect a customer to continuously bring a vehicle for a repair that has not been fixed already after a month and a half. It's extremely disappointing that 1000 dollars’ worth of work and parts amounted to no proper repair toward the CEL including the time that was spent on travel between the months with no vehicle.

I have been using A&B German Car Care for about 2 years now. Since I have never owned a European car before I was not very familiar with very many auto repair shops. I tried two other shops and I decided to stay with A&B. The individuals are extremely professional and provide excellent customer service. You can’t go wrong with these guys!
Garrett was very helpful & professional in helping me out with my 2013 BMW x3.
They stand behind their work and as a customer you always want to feel comfortable with the mechanics you deal with. I have never felt like they were ever trying to scam me with any repairs that was not needed. I would recommend them for any of your car care needs. Trust is hard to come by nowadays, and I trust them as an honest and professional auto mechanics shop.
They are knowledgeable and provided great customer service.

Update - These individuals are extremely professional and provide excellent customer service. You can’t go wrong with these guys!Garrett was very helpful & professional in helping me out with my 2003 Jetta TDI. I recently had some work done by a different mechanic and the car was having intermittent starting issues. They were able to identify that the starter ground was not placed correctly. They fixed the issue & saved me from having to purchase a brand new starter as it was not needed.They are knowledgeable and provided great customer service. I will be returning to have the exhaust leak that was identified fixed this week by them.

My 20 year old daughter took her VW in for an oil change. I recommended she comes here because I’ve had a good experience in the past.She was told it’s “highly” recommended to have a 80,000 mile inspection done per the manufacturer. She agreed and told the mechanic OK but wasn’t exactly sure what would be worked on. This is understandable considering she’s a young college student.The complexity of the service had her feeling a little confused and unsure about what she was actually paying for. Someone unfamiliar with cars and the inner workings of a car would find it difficult to fully understand what was being done and if it was necessary. I called to get some clarification from Garrett but he was argumentative the entire time and didn’t give me an opportunity to talk. He told me I was WRONG and at one point said “ I explain the same thing to other people several times throughout the day”… implying we were incapable of understanding the service done to her car. She went in wanting an oil change but left paying $898.00 ($550 labor) for a full service. Big lesson learned and beyond disappointed with this entire situation

I have been going to A&B for a few years now. They've done amazing work on my son's Audi A4 and my BMW 4 series. Everytime I leave, I am grateful for the work they do and the price they do it for. After being frustrated with the service at a local Audi dealer, I asked around and received a referral to A&B. Spoke with Garrett and let him know what was going on (defroster not functioning). I brought my car in and dropped it off, they were able to get it fixed within the timeline I needed and had excellent communication the entire time. This repair required work behind the dash and I was worried about squeaks/rattling following the repair but everything is perfect. Super friendly service and saved me a little bit from the Audi quote. Will be back for future service/repair on my Audi for sure.

What a great company. Mike and his staff helped me with the power sun roof on my Audi A7. It wouldn't close. They had me come in and it was fixed within 15 minutes. Their tech new exactly what to do. And they didn't charge me to boot! What a very nice Christmas gift. A&B has done work for me before with no issues or problems. Garrett is very helpful too. Yea I called because I wanted to see how much it would be to see what's wrong with the car and they guy was like what's wrong with it, in a really rude voice. Like clearly I don't know that's why I'm calling to find out what's wrong tf!!!!! The reviews were right about garrit he needs to have a more professional and kinder tone not mad people are calling. Not all of us know about cars bud that's why we aren't fixing it are selfs

I have to say it's hard to find a good shop these days that won't rip you off or sell you something you don't need . This shop is the only shop I trust with my bmw . They do it right the first time an they use oem parts. The price is very reasonable considering the repair being done. They are very knowledgeable in all aspects of German cars. I won't take my car anywhere else because I know it's going to be fixed properly an in a timely manner.

Basic service. Don't expect exceptional customer service. Average mechanical work. Keep it simple and should be ok.
