The cashier was extremely rude. She had to go in and bring out the things i wanted. Apparently she already went in while the person in front of me wanted something. So she was like you should have let me know then. And i wanted a second product which was right behind her. She rolled her eyes at me and cut me off while speaking. I just gave up buying anything else and left. Horrible service for something that’s on campus.

A practically bookless bookstore in the middle of a university, just seems like a tragedy, it's a sign of the times, it's what happens when you hand the University bookstore to a big chain store. I give them 2 stars for the nice sweaters and for at least having a class textbook area.

As a recent grad, the quality of education I received was superb. Most of the professors I had were wonderful and passionate about teaching, and the topics were engaging, encouraged discussions amongst students, and welcomed different opinions and critiques. I guess I was lucky to have pretty awesome professors who cared for their students' academic learning and well-being. As a non-traditional transfer student, it does get quite challenging to meet new people, but I made a few solid connections, which I care most about. The campus is clean, and the food is not bad; it can be decent. Yes, it can be quite a walk from the parking lot to campus, but who cares? People will always find things to complain about; it's all perspective. I love the libraries and did find many fave spots to study throughout campus. One thing I will say as a transfer, I found it to be quite challenging to find work on campus even though I qualified for work-study. I'd like to add that there is a vegan burger spot within walking distance from campus; it's so good; it's called "Veg & Go Plant-Based Fast Food," honestly, the best fries I've ever had in my life. You don't have to be vegan; go there and order the fries. Anyway, this school is underrated; there are plenty of smart, cool students here, and the professors I had were amazing; they truly made me fall in love with my academic journey and my time at UCR. They challenged me to become a better writer, to think critically and deeply about current events, and inspired me always to be better and grow as a student. I would like to add that the same professors I had have taught at other UCs and had graduated from UCs and other top Ivy League universities. Honestly, one's academic experience is what we make of it, and as long as we have the intention to develop good relationships with our fellow classmates and professors, one's academic journey will be enriching. I enjoyed my time here and I would do it all over again.

The campus is beautiful. The new bookstore feels like a Barnes and Noble! I was also nicely surprised to see they were not price gouging here, and everything seemed affordable. Picked up UCR Mom and Dad shirts.

One of the WORST universities EVER. I'm about to break down a variety of situations of this university to give you the mental clarity you're pursuing to choose a different one. BILLINGS: Every time I check my account, there's an unnecessary charge. Then I call, and they invent all these "student fees." EVEN during the summer when I haven't even BEEN there. They charged me $300 AFTER I already paid all my bills and classes due to "campus fees." I hadn't even been on campus in over a month. Every time I call, I make sure to get the person's name, because they'll swear up and down that all your fees are paid, and then hit you with random $200-$300 fee out of nowhere. PROFESSORS: There's a professor there who's SUPPOSED to teach political science. But instead, I exchange confused looks with a variety of other students during class because he philosophizes the ENTIRE class. I took government during the summer at a community college in HS and LOVED it, but HERE? It's HORRIBLE. Rather than focusing on real political science, he says things like, "What are ideas? What about language? Why are they so important? Tell me now, what is a CONCEPT? We NEED language to UNDERSTAND IDEAS worldwide." It felt like listening to a 5 year old discovering COMMON SENSE for the FIRST TIME. Then, when you open up the book, it's incredibly challenging regarding Gross national income, and other real political issues. I emailed him, asking him to actually teach the material that's in the book. During the next lecture he said that many people ask when is he going to lecture us. He said he will NEVER lecture us on the material, because his goal is to teach us "how to think." Except, he DOESN'T teach you how to think. He simply rants and philosophizes for an hour and a half then has the audacity to call himself a professor. Even the TA agreed during discussion that he was very off topic so to ask questions to her instead.Other professors are also fairly lazy. You can tell most of them have no desire to be there and actually teach. When you ask a question, many might give you some more confusing responses, rather than breaking it down. You'll also encounter professors who give you attitude, professors who assign you 50 pages to read every 2 days only for you to discuss it rather than teach it themselves, professors who require a $200 book but barely even use it, or TA's with a very strong accent that makes it harder to understand. DORM LIFE: RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAAAANNN. UCR prides itself on focusing less on education and more about receiving money from everyone and anyone. The dorms are LOUD. And i mean LOUD. IF you're a party student and your parents are paying so you don't really care, then it's the place for you. HOWEVER, if you're SERIOUS about having a good study routine, excelling in your classes and genuinely LEARN as much as you can, then look for a more serious school. Complaints from me, my friends, and our parents were never taken seriously because they refuse to bill the entitled students or relocate them. Also, if the RA's are their friends, they don't write them down. Dorm students play loud music, bang on walls, bring in all their outside friends, scream, sing, laugh loudly, and say "OHHH MY GAAAAA" 150 times per day. My friends say that Pentland is better, but it depends on who lives in your suite. From what I've heard and seen when I visit them, it's much quieter than Lothian and AI. (Never been to Dundee). GOOD LUCK FINDING HOUSING AFTER YOUR FIRST YEAR. Smh. FOOD: The food is usually really good other than small disappointments here and there. Idk if it's good enough for nearly $900 every other month though. The orange chicken is mostly small chunks of fried batter and not much chicken, and when there IS chicken, you gotta check because all of them were pink. But my friend texted glasgow and they resolved the issue pretty quickly. :) In conclusion, UCR is disappoi

My wife studied here years ago and she wanted to show me the area. It's really huge and the shop is cool too. My wife bought a new sweater. So you can experience normal college life in America here. As you know it from the film.
