Although it is a large museum, there were not many works of art to see because much of the space was being prepared for installation. It was very disappointing.

nice small museum with lots of rotating exhibits and pieces usually from art students from UCR. good to visit for a date though not with family sometimes the art is a bit obscure or frightening (mostly photography and some abstract art). it's free to UCR students and the public i believe.
The mission of UCR ARTS - The California Museum of Photography and the Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts – is to encourage appreciation and engagement of art and photography through exhibitions, performances, and education programs. The Museum is dedicated to preserving a holistic history of photography for future generations; the Culver is committed to serving as an incubator for bold ideas and artistic expressions. Together, the two entities engage the vast and varied audiences in Southern California.
By joining the California Museum of Photography, Sweeney Art Gallery, and Culver Center of the Arts in a single block, UCR ARTS serves as a cultural anchor for the University and the City in the heart of historic downtown Riverside.
