I have attempted multiple times to cancel a booking and get a refund. No one has gotten back to me. Every time I called, my call was never answered or the lady did not speak English. I am now forced to eat a the cost of the room that I did not intentionally book. Do not book here. The pictures of the bed bugs should be enough to stay away from this place.

I stayed there for almost 8-months and the management treated me like I was part of the family. My only regret has nothing to due with Santa Cruz Inn it has been a bitter sweet 8 months that ends with the loss of a friend that I wanted to be with for the rest of my life.

Oh this staff is really stuck on overdone decor up at the Santa Cruz innThat Santa Cruz inn and out Riverside that's the place where I've beenYou can have a staff infection and still deal with the staff at the Santa Cruz InnYou might as well be sick cuz your wallet ain't thick when you leave the Santa Cruz innThe Santa Cruz inn has been here for years like the mission innBut you don't really know where the furniture has been at the Santa Cruz innIt's been done over and overdone, like they're covering up a sinBut the head lady thinks that a classier look could not have beenSeen at another two-star motel like the aforementions Santa Cruz inn...----Blind Melon Jefferson

Female management was extremely rude when checking out, also hotel doesnt take credit card or debit card only cash and requires a $50 cash deposit for key, finally the rooms have cockroaches ! Would never stay here again

Despite the quiet, peaceful atmosphere and cleanliness, I felt as though the hospitality from the front desk was rather lackluster, almost as if they didn't appreciate their job enough to even crack a smile for my patronage. Having done a little more of that, and they might've received a 4 or 5 star rating from me.

This place sucks,Do not bring your family here. There are drug addicts and bums hanging out outside of the motel at all hours. One of the rooms I was in had a small hole in the floor where a little mouse would come in and go thru my stuff. The table in my room was broken so you couldn't lean on it.And there was a family staying there who's little child they would let scream and cry all the time.Boo this place!

Hard scratchy towels. Not enough wash cloths.Luke warm hot water (no hot water at all one morning). Drafty windows (don't fully close, old wooden window frames coming apart). They kept turning off the heat in my room every day when I was out (it was cooler weather when I stayed). Sketchy neighborhood. Limited parking.

They do have very good monitoring of who is on the premises and don't allow the rift raft they are family focused and try to help keep the kids there safe. Management on premises and cameras are everywhere. They do offer weekly rates which is a plus and certain rooms have two bedrooms it's like little apartments.

Worse place to stay at, only reason I stayed is because I payed Priceline without knowing where I was going to stay, I do that all the time but this time it was a bad experience. Rude staff, room smells like urine.

Love the hotel. It has old Riverside charm. Built when mission inn was built without all the frills and cost. Owner very friendly.

I feel a little guilty giving the place only 3* because it's not like I had high expectations to start with. This place is pretty much what you'd expect for the price here in downtown Riverside where the Mission Inn is nearly $300/nt, Hyatt is $190/nt and the Marriott is $190/nt.However, after reading this, you might think that I gave it too high of a rating as there are a lot of thing wrong with the place.Let's start with the curious odor of the room. I can't quite put my finger on what it is and it's not overpowering...it's just a bit funky. The only thing I can think of is that it's a funk that is trapped in a carpet that should have been changed out a decade ago. My son (17 years old) said that when he first went into the bathroom that it smelled like "someone just took a massive dump in here, Dad!"And then there is the mattress. It should have been changed out with the carpet...and then two more times since. When I sat on the side of the bed, the mattress caved nearly to the bottom side. I'm a big guy at 220lbs but I'm not obese by any stretch of the imagination...no mattress of even middle quality should do this. The shower - it has an adjustable head that when you turn it changes the spray pattern and intensity. Many of the settings don't fully work and none of them gave us a decent amount of pressure. Not a big deal for me as I shave my head but my son has a head full of hair that he had a tough time rinsing out the shampoo. Those are the main things that impacted our experience. But one other thing that I was quite curious about...the white paint on the inside of the bathroom door and the door frame - specifically around the door handle and latch. So much had been chipped away that it gave the appearance that someone had been locked inside there and tried to claw their way out. It's an easy thing for someone to fix and make pretty again., strange that no one has bothered. So, if you book this place (and I'm not really trying to influence you not to), be aware of these issues and don't expect too much. If these are things that you can overlook, you will find that the hotel is quite quaint...interesting tiled water fountains dating back to when the hotel was built (maybe 100 years ago or a little more). And the location could not be any more perfect...two blocks from the Fox Performing Arts Center, three blocks from the Mission Inn...as well as downtown.
