“I have a pup with pancreatitis and most lower fat treats she refuses but luckily mishka’s turkey cake is very low fat and my dog is obsessed with the cakes and so am I. The cakes are absolutely beautiful and there are always fun new shapes with different seasons and holidays. The staff is also always so friendly and helpful. Mishka is a must go to if you have a pup in the Bay Area.”
“5 Elements is an amazing dog food company that has completely transformed my senior dog's life. Sharon, the owner of 5 Elements is all about serving animals and genuinely caring about their health. It's so refreshing to come across a company where the owner's passion shines through in every aspect. You can just feel the love and dedication she puts into her products.Norma and Ali, the store staff at 5 Elements are just as fantastic! They really take the time to get to know your pet's health issues. Whenever I swing by, they sit down with me and listen attentively to my concerns. They're like pet nutrition gurus, I tell you! Their knowledge and expertise are top-notch, and their personalized recommendations have made a world of difference in my senior dog's overall well-being.I swear that Elle is living longer just so she can get more broth, frozen yogurts, and treats from 5 Elements. They've formulated special meals for geriatric dogs like mine. The ingredients they use are carefully selected, and they really understand the specific needs of senior dogs. Since incorporating their bone broth, Elle has seen a remarkable improvement in her health. I can't thank 5 Elements enough for the positive impact they've had on her well-being.And 5 Elements isn't just your average pet food store—it's a real community of pet lovers who support each other. I've met some incredible people here. We chat about our pets' health, share advice, and swap heartwarming stories. It's like a home away from home, filled with folks who truly care. The atmosphere Sharon has created is simply amazing. In a sea of generic options, 5 Elements understands that aging pups have unique needs, and they've crafted specialized meals just for them.”
“Neighborhood gem! North beach is lucky to have this store full of healthy quality pet food and accessories. they have classes and services (like non-anesthetic dental cleaning too. So amazing!”
“I credit this location with helping my reactive dog feel more comfortable with strangers in general. They're beyond sweet, learning his name, greeting him with smiles and treats every time we come in. Because of them, he isn't fearful of every random person that approaches and the self-serve bath here is a complete back-saver. I love this place and can't thank them enough for how kind they've been to my pup!”
“When I shop at Fill Good, I feel good. My main purchases are cleaning items like dish soap, dishwasher powder, all-purpose cleaner, and hand-soap. Those items are competitively priced with supermarkets, albeit minus the externality of the plastic. They offer donation jars or upcycled wax-bags if you come without. The staff is very knowledgable and I always chat with them about the best ways to recycle and compost etc. I love the loyalty program too. I feel like can do something about the standard pig-lifesytle that's offered by Amazon and friends.”
“The staff at the Montclair Pet Food Express location was outstanding. We have a dog that barks a lot at other pets. We called in the morning ahead of time to get more information about the pet wash. The staff member said we could do the wash in a private pet wash station. We paid for the pet wash session ahead of time and received a token. The staff member proactively offered a waterproof collar. I went outside and put it on our dog. We entered the store with our dog and went straight to the wash station. The pet wash station was clean and well stocked with many towels and even dog treats. Even though we brought our own treats, our dog loved the doggie biscuits provided at the pet wash station. Once we started the wash, everything was smooth sailing. The water started off cool then became a comfortable lukewarm rinse. The air dryer also started off cool then changed to a nice warm air. At the end of the wash session, our dog was clean and dry. We were very happy with the whole experience. We will definitely return to Pet Food Express because of the great customer service and positive experience.”
“Lots of parking, very convenient to shop after grocery shopping and Safeway. Friendly staff and they have enclosed kennel area inside and outside of store for training classes on weekends for our puppy. Easy vaccination available Tuesday through Saturday at the vet clinic in the back of store.”
“What a wonderful discovery! In contrast to all those over-priced, ultra corporate PetCo-type businesses out there, this is a pleasant, old-time store with real service and great prices. It will be my go-to for all the kibble my doggie needs!”
“I bought a Paco Collar for my now 13 year old dobermann girl before she was even born. One of the jewels came off and without hesitation they sent me, not one, but a whole pack of replacements. Not one has fallen off since. Bear in mind, I live in the UK. The collar is still going strong and will be handed down to the new boy, for hopefully another 13 years ”
“Amazing high quality pet products, wide variety of items & my dogs love coming in to sniff everything! (Great buy 3, get 1 free deals on all products..!) Also the baths are really convenient for washing dogs. Makes bath time much easier & can just rinse the fur & grime down the drain.”
“I've been coming here4 years. The staff has ALWAYS been friendly. This day 1/14/24 I have 2 say was BY FAR the best customer service experience I've had in more then 20yrs. I walked in & was greeted. Went 2 get my babies food. I put my hand up immediately KLIFFORD can & ask can he help. He picked up the heavy bag took it 2 the counter but that was not the best part. I asked him about my dogs skin he recommended something. I ask about switching foods . This man went above and beyond his job description HE listened & replied NO RUSHING he was ALL IN THANK YOU MR. KLIFFORD YOU R TRULY WHAT CS IS ALL ABOUT . U deserve 10stars”

4814 Broadway, Oakland“We've been coming to Petvet since our first dog years ago. The clinic itself is still just as awesome and affordable. Definitely expect to wait as it's first come, first serve, but the vaccination line moves pretty fast. Exams line takes a bit more time. Today specifically Annette was great getting our pets vaccinated even with our antsy ones.
As far as the pet store section, it's also super helpful especially when it comes to finding quality and/or hard to find pet products. So many products to choose from and hard to resist especially when my daughter visits with me.”
“This is our local spot for hay, treats, and pellets for our Ziggy Smalls! We stopped purchasing from Amazon and SPS, due to poor quality of 2nd cut Timothy...Ziggy was basically using it as his litter vs eating it. purchasing local here, supports his mission and ensures a safe haven for rabbit and Guinea pig owners so we feel good about coming here. We adore James and he's always helpful and kind when we visit. He was able to give advice when Ziggy had too much "wet poop", even after changing his daily amount of fresh greens. Thank you James! We also found out about them via local Facebook group: "rabbits of the Bay Area".”
“I use to shop here for my pigeon feed and they was such great friendly people. I wonder if it's the same people running the store that i use to come buy feed 2012. Well now i have Cockatiels and Canary's so i will be buying my feed from you again. Because the store Elgranero feed store stop customer from using their credit cards and they only except cash that has been going on for 1 yr now. And i wanted to buy a canary bird and i didn't have the cash to buy it now so i wasn't able to buy bird.”

They carry the very best pet food possible for our love ones. They’ll take back food if your pet doesn’t eat it. (I never tried an empty bag, so). They let you know of deals without asking. This store is very clean even with the DIY pet grooming stations that are clean as well that are also very busy. Awesome store”
“Impeccably made and beautifully presented. My dog’s bday party was a hit. She especially loved the peanut butter cake. This has become my go to place for doggie confections.”

1510 Walnut St, Berkeley“Healthy Spot is my primary go to spot for food, snacks, bones and holistic supplements. Dianne's like the MVP all day, every day over there in the Berkeley store. Her depth of knowledge crosses many different product sets and services. She is extremely versed in holistic supplements for a dog's overall health, physical and mental well-being. She has recommended game changing holistic supplements that I've integrated into my dog's daily life. For my 5yr old American Bully, HeiHei's pain management program allows him to lead a thriving & healthy lifestyle. HeiHei is on a monthly holistic supplements of Standard Process (Ligaplex II, Musculoskeletal, & Boswellia Complex), Connectin and Bixbi joint mushroom powder for my dog's hip, knee, joint dysplasia & osteoarthritis, that he was born with. He's my lovable lemon. Because of Dianne, I also felt comfortable putting HeiHei on a raw food diet of frozen duck necks, chicken and turkey necks which has kept him lean and fit for an 80 lb. large size dog. For treats, they have a huge selection of high-quality snacks. HeiHei's favorites are bone broth, long gullet sticks, beef taffy long sticks, massive tendon bones, generous freeze-dried options like duck & chicken necks, Stack that Cheddar & Gouda, etc. Your dog will live longer knowing Dianne and Healthy Spot Berkeley. You're welcome.”

129 Tamalpais Rd, Berkeley“"Open Paw - Good Habits Are Hard to Break." This review is based on attendance at several lectures by Open Paw speakers as well as direct experience with the Open Paw program and the programs founders. (BTW, while I love cats, I own 3 dogs and work with dogs on a daily basis. My bias therefore, leads me to write about dogs.) Open Paw is a multi-faceted approach to making companion pets (more) adoptable, educating pet owners (preferably before an adoption), and keeping pets in the home once they are adopted. When the Open Paw program is employed at the animal shelter level, staff, volunteers and visitors to the shelter are encouraged to feed the dogs part of their daily food ration for displaying appropriate behavior (sitting quietly instead of barking and lunging) at the front of the kennel. The dogs get lots of repetition for this appropriate behavior throughout the day and dogs that are shy or aggressive around people learn that the approach of strangers is a good thing - this is how they get their dinner! Special care is also given in the Open Paw program to teach and maintain housebreaking by ensuring that the shelter dogs get adequate time out of the kennel - housebroken dogs shouldn't be forced to soil their kennel. (In most shelter situations, the mental and physical health of the dogs is constantly deteriorating. Constant barking, lack of physical exercise and mental stimulation as well as inadequate levels of staff and volunteers to get the dogs out frequently enough - these are the ingredients for doggie stress and deterioration found in most shelters.) In and out of the shelters, Open Paw strives to educate prospective pet owners BEFORE they adopt. Far too many dogs are returned to shelters because the new owners don't have realistic expectations of their new companion and they don't know how to resolve insanely simple problems. Post-adoption, Open Paw continues its efforts to educate pet owners and handlers with the goal of keeping the new pet in the home for a lifetime. In addition to a vast amount of resources available on the website, Open Paw also offers - for free - a electronic (pdf) file of "Before You Get Your Puppy", by Dr. Ian Dunbar. (Dunbar - a very well known and respected veterinarian, animal behaviorist, dog trainer, and writer - revolutionized the dog training world when he opened "Sirius Puppy Training". He is also the founder of Open Paw.) The Open Paw program and what it strives for is nothing short of brilliant. The priceless information is appropriate for anyone who might come into contact with domesticated animals. Pet lovers, owners, the general public as well as people that don't like pets - all would benefit from OU (Open Paw University). Check it out, get educated & gain some knowledge about our fuzzy friends! This is pure win-win-win!”
“This place is a hidden gem! Definitely support this business! They have cute parrots and animals they let you interact and see! They have very competitive prices! I was able to purchase two dog toys that are extra strength for my puppy for a SWEET deal. They also have some really great CUSTOM Collars they sell and you can even place an order online and make one PERFECTLY for you fur-baby! I will be coming back 100%! They also have snacks for dogs as well as the pet essentials! Give it a try!”
“Amber is a PRO at cat washing! I brought my feisty nearly 2 yr old dilute calico in and Amber kept her under control for the wash, condition, & dry! Nail trimming would have been included, but I did that before I came in because I was a bit nervous with how my gal might behave. Plus, that's not the part I have a challenge with. Booked out yes and SO WORTH seeing this HIGHLY EXPERIENCED WOWMAN at work! The price for the wash was very fair. Dynamite pets held true to the appointment time and got us out in less than 1/2 an hour from cat out of the bag to back in. I will definitely be back with my other cats and super happy that I was able to be patient with waiting for today to arrive!”

His staff are also helpful. Good to have a neighborhood store that specializes in bird and reptiles. Will continue to shop there.”

Inside Pet Food Express, 1430 Fitzgerald Dr, Pinole“Love the staff you're very helpful and my dog love them she's been coming here since I got her when she was 10 weeks old and now she's 10 years old. The staff has changed but their service and kindness hasn't.”

6000 Potrero Ave, El Cerrito“Pet Vet is an awesome resource and I recommend it to anyone in the area with pets. I first started shopping here because the flea meds were cheaper than at my vet's. There's a great selection of food and supplies (some hard to find) and you can get a lot of normally "prescription only" items. Some require a clinic visit but others like sub-q bags are easily available.”
“The staff is extremely friendly, they know what they are doing, and I loved the dedication with which they do their job, you can tell that they are committed people, they are the best!!!”
