I am a Berkeley resident in search of a new local mechanic and discovered Narasaki Automotive and Marine through a Google search. After a recent visit for an inspection, I can confirm the positive experiences others have shared. This shop builds on several generations of experience—over 70 years in auto mechanics—and treats customers with respect and honesty, focusing on genuine care for their cars rather than upselling unnecessary fixes. The dependable and highly skilled mechanics, continue to uphold high standards that was set by Mr. Narasaki (grandpa), who started it all. They are also located right off the freeway exit and a short walk from Golden Gate Bistro.

Best kept secret for automotive work in town. If you ask locals where they go to get their vehicle worked on, everyone trusts Narasaki to do it right without cutting corners, and they are keeping older model vehicles running for hundreds of thousands of miles with proper preventative maintenance.

Been coming to these guys for years and they are some of the best. I don’t trust any other mechanics. Even after moving to the north bay I will continue to bring my cars here for maintenance. They kept my old beater car running well past 330k miles and charge very reasonable rates. Al and Jr are old school mechanics and super reliable, I definitely recommend this shop.Services: Battery

This is a family run auto repair--they go the extra mile to help out (like pumping up my bike tires for free) and do fantastic repair work. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I watched, in real time, as Al performed an amazing piece of diagnostics the other day. You could see the matrix of possible problems and solutions flash through his eyes in seconds, then he ran back into the garage and came out with a heavy screwdriver about 30" long. He threaded it way back through a bunch of hoses and tubes, and then "bam" gave the idle speed control valve a sharp rap...problem solved. Was amazing. This place is so great...I just want to go and hang out with them.

Father/son business - solid guys. I take my 2500 diesel here and they have always taken care of me, charge far less than dealer and turnaround time is excellent. I've asked other professional mechanics what they think about Narasaki's and they also rave about them.
