We moved out of our home of 40 years, and Foster Van Lines was great from first phone call to delivery of our stuff to a storage unit across the country. We have not opened all the boxes, but everything we have seen so far has been in fine shape. David Lane was our point person for the move, and he was tremendously helpful. He took the time to talk us through how the moving process works, things we need to be aware of, potential issues, what to plan for, etc. We are very grateful for the generous sharing of his time and knowledge. Knowing what to expect and the things we could do to prepare was enormously helpful.A cross-country move is very expensive, and David's estimate was both reasonable and came extraordinarily close to the actual cost.Moving is exhausting and emotional, and David and all his workers were sensitive and professional in their dealings with us. The packers came on time, worked hard, and at the same time were kind and respectful of the fact that they were handling our stuff and taking apart our home. The only (very small) complaints I have were that someone packed away our checkbook, which turned out to be less of a problem than you might think. Also, a few items were left behind because neither my husband nor I were able to focus on inspecting the property at the end of the day, and we don't remember being asked to do so. We've arranged for the items to be picked up, so it's OK. Nothing valuable was left. Our driver, Elvis, was responsive, helpful and kind. He called us a few days before the move and kept in touch with us throughout. He was very professional and considerate and we worked together to get the truck into the storage facility and parked as close as possible to the unit. His workers were careful with our stuff and worked hard to arrange things in the unit so they would not get crushed or damaged and while maximizing our access. They were just as professional and pleasant as the packing crew across the country.I am so impressed with everyone we worked with on this move!

Service arrived late, and damaged goods that they refused to cover.

Foster Van Lines answered all my questions, either via email or phone call, in a relatively short period of time, always courteous, and detailed. Packers and movers were on time and packed belongings with care in an efficient manner. Arrival at destination was as communicated and arrival date was met. This move took place from California to Ohio. I highlyrecommend this company for anyone's next move.

We stored 2 pieces of furniture with Foster's. One was a very expensive 8 ft velvet sofa from Kreiss Furniture a very high end store They lost an 8 ft sofa!!! They denied that it ever existed. The fact that it disappeared is very suspect. I would avoid at all costs using this irresponsible company.

Foster Van Lines provided a very detailed and thorough quote and the move worked seamlessly. It was great to have one contact to take care of moving my home contents and car halfway across the country! Whenever I had a question or adjustment the response was quick and professional (thank you David!!).

I recently moved from SF to NY. After reviewing lots of cross country moving companies, I decided to go with North American Van Lines (Foster Van Lines being one of their local agents to handle my quote, logistics, billing, etc). They are not a low price one, but I went with them because I have a baby grand piano which is my main concern and I needed a more established and relatively reputable company to give me a little bit of mental calmness, even though I knew there would be no guarantee to that. Their offer of high value insurance is another reason I selected them; so I don’t have to go to a third party to deal with the high value insurance part. The way American Van Lines using its name and brand to get deals and later fan out the work to their local agents confused me quite a bit at the beginning, because you really don’t know who will be accountable in case something went wrong. Later on, I found out even more details on how this industry works and how all the moving pieces put together: Foster Van line then fanned the work out to an Allied Van Line driver (Allied is the sister company of American Van Lines but a more expensive one for white glove service). The local packing and moving teams who come to the origin and destination are actually contracted by the driver! So if one small piece of the moving parts does not work, I bet it will be very difficult to find the accountable party. So I just had to cross my fingers and pray to God that nothing would go wrong, had to trust that I had a good driver who knows what he is doing. Luckily, nothing happened and after almost a month traveling in different parts of the country, my furniture finally got delivered to my places (I have two stops: one in PA, one in NY). During the delivery, many surprises happened: furniture and piano won’t turn the narrow staircases. Luckily the local move team is very experienced with this type of situation and immediately recommended Dr. Sofa to us to take care of the situation. Don, the driver who was also the main person handling the whole thing (kind of like a team lead), is also very experienced and responsible. Luckily everything got delivered without any damages and lost! Both Don’s SF team and NY team members were very hard working and very nice! The only complaint I have is that they used too much paper to wrap and to pad to make sure nothing would break, which in a way caused my packing cost went up quite a lot. Overall Foster Van Line, Don the truck driver, and the local teams are very courteous and prompt. Good team and I was lucky, but their price is not cheap!

We contacted 6 moving companies in the Bay area to move us from SF to the Seattle area. Three sent out people to do an in person survey of our stuff and 3 did it via a zoom call. In the end, we picked Foster Van Lines who partners with North American . The packers came on time and did a great job packing up our stuff. The next day, our driver came with a team of movers and put our stuff on a truck. Our driver, James, was totally communicative about when he would deliver our goods. He delivered our furniture when promised with no issues. The crew on the Seattle end was phenomenal as they had to haul our stuff up through a garage and up 3 floors. We would highly recommend Foster and North American Van Lines.

Dave was amazing and flexible. Scott packed all our fragile items and Grandma's China. Steve the driver packed and hauled it all and had great moving crews on both sides of our move. We moved from Northern California to Las Vegas and plan to use them all again when we make our final move to Phoenix.

A much delayed review. We contracted with Fosters to move from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. While more expensive than some other bids, we had full confidence that their bid was accurate. The estimator was courteous, professional and thorough. The packers, loaders and unloaders, and driver were exceptional. The van driver was nimble in resolving issues when they arose, identifying the need to get a smaller van to navigate DC streets. He was affable and a team leader for the crew he managed. Highly recommended.
