Jumped around with a few mechanics while livin in Redwood City Father & Son Dual is the best modest price, great workmanship, honest mechanics, efficient auto repair with explanations for the repair procedure. I'm with Team Tran???

I can't say enough about this place. I have brought my car in for minor repairs in the past and they are always so honest and charge fairly (a fraction of dealer's estimate). They have even discouraged me from doing unnecessary work in the past. Today my car was squealing and groaning like it was on its last leg and I brought it to Tran's. They found a simple fix and didn't even charge me for the diagnosis and fix since it was so quick for them. All the noise is gone! I know nothing about cars and I trust this place to be honest, fair, and provide top notch service.

Bad customer service. I went in for a smog test and one of the guys there had told me I can return after I repaired an issue with my vehicle and I would be charged $10 once and after that I could go as many more times (no charge) until my vehicle passed smog. The very day I return (a week later) another guy says I can only try again this last time or else they charge full smog price all over again and questions me about my vehicle and what I did to repair it like they don't believe me. Their stories don't match up and they also seem rude and hostile the whole time. They give me scammer vibes as if they are searching for excuses to fail your smog test. My vehicle rarely has smog problems and I rarely use it and the problem they did find seems to be very minimal and can easily be overlooked (not an emissions problem). Will not be returning ever again they don't deserve our money. Would give a zero star review if it was possible. P.S: they also declined the option to work on my vehicle.

They did a great job with customer service and keeping you up to date. Very accommodating when it came to getting your car in and were not impatient and annoying when we was figuring out how to get vehicle there. The work we needed was for my cousin's vehicle and it was completed and they did not try to up sell or over charge. Price and quality was on point. And this is from a 13 year auto shop owner.

Been coming here for a long time, they are the best and directly opposite from what people fear in a mechanic shop, the reviews speak for themselves they are family owned and operated, honest, hard working and give fair prices, they also create dialogue to try and understand your car to tell you what's most likely the problem and save you money and for them their time. They are no nonsense and get right to the root of the problem, most honest mechanics you'll find and worth every penny!

Saved me from a $4k+ repair bill when my car's engine started giving me problems. Even replaced spark plugs and did an oil change for free. They are very honest and professional here, I'd give them 10 stars if I could. Thank you Tran for your help, you saved me a ton of money

When it comes down to maintaining the most valuable form of transportation one owns, Yelp tends to come in "CLUTCH" to compare quotes and customer feedback. Requested a quote for brake pads and rotors change and the message was sent to a variety of mechanic shops near my area. Tran's Auto Repair were the first to contact me and even beat the quotes of the other shops by a long shot. Checked out their reviews and now I know why everyone LOVES this place. Sy and his team honestly care more about resolving your car's issues rather than money. I purchased brake pads and rotors from AutoZone and only had to pay the labor installation charge. Had to go back because Sy said the rotors were for the REAR and not for the Front. Well thanks a lot Autozone! Came back with the right rotors and they installed them within the hour. They noticed my engine was leaking oil and checked everything else that needed to be maintained without being asked. Offered drinks in their cold refrigerator on this summer heat for no charge as if we were guests and said help yourselves out! The service was fast, their hospitality was amazing, and their passion for getting your car's maintenance done is unbelievable. Now I know why Redwood City loves this shop and so do I.

Very glad to have found a great local shop to take my Mazda to for repair services. I've been taking my Mazda to the dealership for routine service but took my car here for the first time to resurface my brakes and replace my battery. The cost was half of the dealership cost, and they even told me that a service the dealership recommended wasn't necessary yet. I was able to take my car in in the morning and pick it up by mid afternoon. Note that they don't make appointments, you can either call ahead to get a sense of how long a service will take or directly show up and drop off your car.Great service at reasonable costs.

I’ve been going to Tran’s since 2008 and don’t trust anyone else with our family’s vehicles. Fair and honest work, incredibly trustworthy team that does not try to upsell you, and genuinely wants to have your car back on the road. From regular oil changes, break jobs, tune ups, smog checks, or major services like timing belt/water pump/thermostats, Tran is dependable. Many times Sy has diagnosed minor items for no charge because of our years of loyalty.
