We love the Shores Child Development Center! Their teachers and Directors/staff are like family, they know all the kids and parents names and are so friendly. I get updates on how my little one is doing and daily pictures. The curriculum and philosophy they follow is amazing and has taught my little one so much since joining. Most of all this little family is a safe and fun place to come daily.

Shores Child Development Center has been really great for us.We started by sending our son to the infant program. I trusted the teachers there so much. I always knew he was really well cared for and doing lots of activities. I felt so comfortable leaving him there. We had a bad experience with a home daycare so it was such a relief to find Shores. We stopped daycare for two years during the pandemic but now are back with our 3 year old and 6 month old.Again the infant program has been so great for us. We've also seen our 3 year old really mature and be SOO happy after school. He's learning, growing, making new friends and as a parent it feels so good that we've made the right decision. It's an incredibly clean and welcoming facility. The staff knows all of the kids names and families. I'd highly recommend this center.

Attending Shores has been an amazing experience for us so far. We're glad we did our own due diligence and didn't rely on some of the not very true reviews. We had a baby during hard covid times and so were extra careful when selecting a daycare. We considered 4 different facilities, talked to the teachers and leadership, and came during busy hours to watch how the facility works, then talked some more. Shores was the winner for us. The leadership team Ms. Mindy, Ms. Lisa and Ms. Jessica were accommodating on all levels and even waited for us till we were ready to send our baby in. We sent our daughter at 4mo old and got into a class with Ms.Hilda. Our baby wasn't able to do much but after only a week with Ms. Hilda, she started holding her head high during tummy time and not long after she started rolling. She became a happier kid, ate better and started developing so much faster. Our daughter formed a really tight and trusting bond with her teacher which sometimes my wife Mai was jealous about . My daughter even found her infant best friend in the class to take the growing up journey together - something we thought was impossible at that age.Our daughter moved up a class now and she continues to exceed our expectations in her toddler class with Ms. Marisa. They do science, technology, art, drama, craft etc classes and always brings home her projects to show. Sometimes she forgets to say bye to us at drop off as she's excited for her day at school. We are so happy with the service at Shores that we decided to enroll our twins yet to be born. The waitlist seems to be long now so be sure to put your name down as soon as you can!

Currently I have 2 kids at shores. Honestly I couldn't think of a place that can serve them better. My son started discovery preschool at shores in fall 2018 when he was 2 year old. At that time he was a kid with very challenging behaviors. I toured around 10 preschool/daycare in redwood shore/belmont/san carlos/san mateo area back then, asked detailed questions about their education philosophy, how teachers would handle specific situations, and compared carefully the overall vibe, facility cleanness and playground space. Shores turned out to be my top choice. My son did require quite a lot of support from teachers. At some point, he needed outside professionals to come to school for additional support. Shores was very open about it and collaborated with us parents and the professionals the best way they could. In the past few years my son has been with several lead and support teachers. I am happy with literally all of his teachers' professionalism. They are knowledgeable about developmental milestones, have reasonable expectations, are so supportive in terms of when to give a little push and when to step back, and understand his strength and challenges very well. In the fall of 2021, my son was admitted to a TK program of a very well known private elementary school. Yet it turned out to be a disaster. The teachers of the new school failed him greatly. We pulled him out and sent him back to shores preK/TK program and he's thriving again. The transition was seamless. He is still a challenging kid, and through the comparison with other school we only found out how awesome his teachers are. As a play-based school, I think shores does a great job combining the structured and unstructured time. The preK program prepared my son well for kindergarten readiness. Besides academic goals like math concept and phonics competence, he gains confidence in public speaking from share day, knows how to solve conflict with peers, manages his emotion a lot better now using some strategies from social emotional learning. And he didn't miss any fun. My daughter's personality is very different from my son. She started infant program at shores in fall 2019 when she was 5 month old. COVID hit shortly after. She then restarted toddler program in summer 2020. She was a slow adapter and I felt sorry she had to go through it twice. She is also well supported and given a lot of love from the teachers. She is happy and thriving too in general. I want to give a thumb up specifically to the new leadership team. They were on board at a very hard time in summer 2020 when COVID hit hard. The precaution methods they took were effective. I recalled only one time quarantine and no in school spread. I also noticed improvement in logistics as time went by. I can imagine the leadership team put great effort into this. Another improvement the new leadership team brought is the communication with parents. Besides daily report from class teachers, we also receive weekly newsletter about what's going on at school. I personally enjoy reading it. We also had a virtual coffee chat recently with the directors and I am glad there's one more channel to connect. Of course, we can always schedule a time with the director or class teachers to discuss something specific. I have done it a few times in the past to seek advice from one of the directors and to talk about specific challenges my son had with class teachers. I have been very satisfied with the results. What's more, there was one point we were about to have a lengthy meeting with outside professionals to discuss a lot of details how to support my son best in future education. His class teacher's input would be so valuable and very much appreciated by all parties but I honestly didn't expect her to participate because 1) she's not obligated. 2) it's time consuming and she already spent a lot of time filling out questionnaires, talking to outside professionals etc. 3) shores was short staffed - if she came to the meeting, that means someone else had to substit

Our daughter has been going to Shores for over a year now and we are moving out of state, so I wanted to take the time to help other local parents find this amazing place. My daughter started at this daycare as soon as she turned 6 months and from the very first day, the staff made me feel confident that she was in great hands. The staff at Shores doesn't just care for my kid, they *develop* her. Every time she learns a new skill or hits a new milestone, I know that the staff has worked just as hard for it as we have at home. My daughter's teachers (one for the infant classroom, one for the toddler classroom) both have told me before that teaching is their passion, and it shows. The whole staff is a supportive community. When I pick my daughter up at the end of the day, they all say goodbye to her - they all know her name, and she'll smile and wave at them, it's clear she likes them.Throughout the pandemic, the staff always communicated proactively about all safety measures. They've made everything less scary, particularly around protecting kids that are too young to get vaccinated. Other parents also try to reduce their risk of exposure - we've had playdates with other families from the center because the kids are all in the same "pod" so to speak. It's effectively like a cocoon to help keep them safe. When we move away from the Bay, I'll be really sad to take my daughter away from this daycare! From the teachers to the front office, they really are so wonderful. Highly recommend them for anyone in the area.

Both my kids have gone to this daycare since they were infants. Though management changed after KinderCare acquired this location, I believe it was for the better. The Director level staff is very courteous and friendly, and super professional. I have not had a chance to closely know the teachers due to the pandemic, but they seem sweet and student focused. My son seems to be learning a lot and is being accommodated with toilet training needs. The precautions and procedures put in place for COVID-19 were solid and with minimal inconvenience to parents.

The Director Mindy is rude. And has a bad attitude.

My son has been going to the Shores center for over 6 months now and I am constantly impressed by care my son receives. The teachers are very good - loving and caring. They are always enthusiastically looking for ways to teach new stuff to the kids. The facility is clean and very well managed.

I would say that yes this place is a great establishment, nice facility with friendly staff and teachers, and super structured. However I would strongly not recommend it for young newborns, or until your little ones are mobile or at least able to crawl and sit up on their own. I sent my girl when she was 3 mo and it was super nice at first. The teachers are flexible and will try to accommodate their needs. But when it comes down to it, it’s really hard for them to carry on their duties consistently because the 1:4 ratio for newborns this young does not work with a facility this big. The cribs are in the same room/classroom. Teachers go in and out from breaks, make shift changes, have days to call in sick, etc and the managers will shuffle things around to maintain the class. The front desk staff would fill in or some filler teacher would. They have to catch up on rotations and find out what’s going on as they go. There’s lots of adult talking noises, radios, and door slamming all day. There would also be days when the other classroom is combined with the non-mobile classroom due to staff shortage or small class size. Now you’re dealing with walking and active toddlers all over your defenseless little one. They also have activities they say they do daily, but in reality with all this going on there’s only so much they can squeeze the developmental stuff in. Don’t get me wrong I still like the teachers. They are super nice and friendly. But the set up does not allow them to be successful. My honest opinion.

Let's start off first by saying the one star reviews listed in this centers section are as far off as you could get from the reality of what this center brings to this area for families. The negative review by one parent is sad to see as I see that person in the hallways everyday happy and joyful to be dropping their children off. Yes you might be asking yourself why they made it in the past tense when they are still present at the school. let that be your guide to if this review is factual and accurate of the center..let's just say my everyday experience with all the different amazing people that support my children and my ability to maneuver in this difficult region with extremely high expectations on the workforce is amaing. With that said please see an actual review of this awesome establishment:Shores Child Development Center is the best school my children have attended in the Silicon Valley. I found them at a time when I needed backup care urgently. After that first day of my child attending Shores I knew it was the place for our family. I recommend this school above any other that is available. Not only in the kindercare system but overall in the valley. There are numerous factors that contribute to this statement. The first and most important is their teaching and executive leadership. Loving, caring, knowledgeable and dedicated are just a few words I would use to describe the people that are charged with my children's early education and care. They are second to none. The second is their ability to work with your child's individual need while still focusing on the age groups holistic goals and needs for their development. They offer additional one on one tutoring for skills that can be carried through life. Third is their schedule with early morning drop off to late evening pick ups. Fourth is their facility condition and how they care for it. It is clean and cared for down to the most granular detail. They have onsite facilities to wash all their communally used items from toys to linen's. Their class rooms have up to date teaching tools for all age groups and the outdoor structures cultivate and encourage curiosity and skills development in every child. Fifth they offer warm lunches for purchase at an astronomically low amount with all dietary restrictions in mind..
