Five stars for the medical services... zero stars for the billing train wreck. I had surgery on my left knee in 2020. The procedure was professionally handled and the result was great. But in early 2023 -- two and half years later -- I received a paper bill for $3K with a declaration that this the was the "final notice". How is a bill that was never presented overdue? (the customer service agent was also gobsmacked but had no ability to solve) I had an MRI in 2022 and the hospital demanded payment of $3K in advance. I paid a $500 deposit to ensure that the MRI was done without further delay. After the MRI was completed, I confirmed that the procedure was covered by insurance with a max charge (to me) of $325. But I can't get Sequoia to rebate the $175 that I overpaid with the deposit. (I don't owe them anything so there is no bill/invoice, so there is no "WID number" to provide them. Catch-22! Finally, I have a bill with a $70 balance due that the phone tree system says has a zero balance. New bill for $70 the next month... the phone tree still says a zero balance. And again the next month. I'm not paying $70 when the system says I don't owe anything. And, of course, there is no online system to go in and see the detail on these charges. Instead, you get a paper bill that is completely blind.

I went to get my bi-annual chest CT scan done this morning at the Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City. It's always a pain to get IV in me so I am kind of nervous. The two young gentlemen greet me with big smile ... you can feel it even behind the masks. They put the IV in without issues and the scan was performed quickly and professionally. It was a good experience.

This review is for the labor and delivery wing. 10 stars of 5 stars: The nurses. Empathetic, informative, so helpful in sharing their tips and tricks on all things baby related. Just the overwhelming support and care they provided me, my baby, and my husband while we were there. I wish I wrote down all their names... And didn't write this review a month later as that short time at Sequoia, everything is becoming a blur, especially names. Only thing less than 10 stars from them: the stomach massages they gave post delivery... Ladies, why call it 'massages' when it's anything but? Maybe stomach torture? 10 stars of 5 stars: Dr Rao and Dr Kassis. Dr Rao was on call and delivered my baby. Dr Kassis is my OB, and swung in for my surgery afterwards and kept my husband informed of everything going on. They're awesome. 10 stars of 5 stars: the anesthesiologist. Another person I didn't get his name. But he gave me the best epidural. Zero pain in delivery - I mean, zero pain, no pressure, nada. Yet I could still move my legs. The nurses and doctor were also commenting on how impressive my epidural was. 5 of 5 stars: the room. We got a large delivery room where we stayed in that had a small bed for my husband to sleep on. Once transferred to the postpartum side, the room was just as large but had a beautiful view of the fall trees. 5 of 5 stars: parking, general staff. From the custodians cleaning the rooms, to the guy who wheeled me down to my car, to the security guard instructing us where to go upon first arrival, and the parking structure always having spots for my husband who had to juggle being with me and running home to let our dog out, everyone was friendly, and the space was easy and quick for my husband to get in and out. And there's free electric vehicle charging! 1 of 5 stars: only thing lacking for my experience was the lactation consultation. They swung in at the end of their shift, said they were gonna fly through it as their day was done and no one else was on call the rest of our stay. Didn't look at the latch, didn't look at my baby, said the nurse can teach me how to use the breast pump and can answer any other questions I might have. I get it that you want to go home after a long shift, especially if that means a long weekend, but I would've greatly appreciated the support as a first time mom. I found out days later at my first pediatrician check up that my son had a horrible tongue tie... Here I had been struggling with breast feeding, thinking maybe I was just doing it wrong... anyways we could've had that taken care of sooner. I had to call a separate lactation consultant to help me figure stuff out. When you're just getting home with a newborn, calling around and making appointments is a major chore and made me resentful of the lack of support I received at the hospital. Overall, as frustrating as that one use case was, and as scary and overwhelming as labor and delivery is, I had an overwhelmingly great support team at Sequoia and I'm forever grateful.

I had a fantastic experience at Sequoia L&D for the birth of my first child last month. I received excellent care, especially from the amazing Labor and Delivery nurses during my experience, and the care I received after the baby was born was also great. I loved having two visits from a lactation consultant as well to ensure that I was set up for success in breastfeeding. Thank you for the great care!

My wife had a horrible experience with the Radiology insurance department, to be more specific Lilliana the lady that coordinates insurance pre authorizations. She was very difficult to work with for all parties made things very confusing. My wife needed an MRI done due to a injury and they canceled her appointments twice, which has cost her 3 weeks of waiting in pain. All because Lilliana waited until the day before to contact insurance when it is a five day process. Going to Saimon med to get her stuff done now. Never coming to sequoia again.

RACIST HOSPITAL! If you're Hispanic don't come here. They don't care about us and won't give you the care you deserve.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sequoia Hospital as Dr. Graw, Orthopedic Surgeon's total hip replacement patient. He is absolutely the best surgeon since he has a passion for his work and extremely trustworthy for such a serious procedure. Overall, the hospital is very pleasant and all room are private. The staff here really care about your comfort and that said I would like to give a shout out to Katherine (Kat) Sevilla, Staff Nurse. Cheerful, professional and lifted my spirits every time she entered my room. I hope you have the opportunity to have her on your care team.

Might seem like a strange time to write a review or actually it's a partial review I originally was transferred from Dominican hospital on the 22nd for an ablation procedure boy don't ever go to Dominican hospital definitely overcrowded poor staff is overworked and it seems like they've lost their will to be nurses doctors and CNAs. Well back to Sequoia I arrived in the afternoon and was supposed to have an ablation within a couple days and then bad luck hit me I ended up with a upper g I bleed which they attended to immediately and gave excellent care in that area. Really love the nurses on how respectful and the excellence when they treat you, and they are actually knowledgeable. Well my surgery is tomorrow and I'll give you an update as time goes on thanks for listening.

Last year I had cut the tip of my finger with a broken glass at work and I went to ER.. the doctor cleaned my wound with wipes, closed it with hot glue and put a bandage.. I was back at work within 2 hours. Then I received a bill for $ 4430.00 . Since it was a workman comp, I called them and gave them all the infos of the person who was in charge of the claim, not only they kept billing me but now a year later I am being contacted by a collection agency!! I tried to call them again but was disconnected twice and then out on hold forever. If you have an emergency got to Kaiser instead, they will take better care of you..

Not a fan. Their operations are archaic. The US medical system is screwed up. Going to try another hospital. Crossing my fingers PAMF is better.

This is for the L&D department. Words can not describe the amazing experience I encountered with the staff here. Not to mention the Nursing staff!! Bunch of warm hearted people who truly seem to enjoy their job. As a first time mom it is a very nerve wrecking situation but all the nurses made me feel 100x better. I couldn't done it without them. I wish I could remember everyone's name but special thanks to Kelly, Lina, Rebecca and Dr.Liu Thank you ALL L&D team!!!

Man these motherf***ers racist af. Slow, sh*tty service. Few months back, I was suffering from the 'rona. Came into this spot since it was a yelp recommend since I left the club from the city going back to O-town. Had to wait around for hours until I was seen by a doc. These guys very disrespectful. If you look around, all the staff are white! All white clientile too. If you anyone of color, you aint finna be seen. Big complaint against the bald white guy in the er. Absolute no respect at all. I went to kaiser down the street, N they took me in even not having insurance. Props up to kaiser, go there instead

f I could give 500 stars I would to Sequoia Hospital Birth Center . Dr O'Callahan is an outstanding doctor with an incredible team. All the nurses are superb. They are kind, caring and extremely professional. Special mention goes to Annie and Stephanie . They treat you like family and make sure you are comfortable, safe in every step of the way. Sequoia has Stanford NICU which is excellent. I 100% recommend this hospital and Dr O'Callahan.
