A bit on the smaller size, this Safeway still has everything that you would except from a local grocery store. The produce, dairy, and meat departments had what I wanted, and the dry foods and wine sections were better than expected from the smaller size. Staff was friendly and helpful.

What is going on with The Safeway in Redwood City???? Literally it is never open past 11:30 PM. I’ve come on multiple occasions to find the doors locked, lights out, and no one inside. The nighttime manager and shift crew are extremely rude and have very poor customer service.. the manager is often seem disrespecting the customer while having a full conversation on her phone, or talking to other employee’s about their weekends plans or whatever while completely ignoring the customer . on multiple occasions to cash lottery tickets only to have been told that no one has the code to get into the system. This is so ridiculous. It seems Safeway has gone downhill. It’s unfortunate, this store use to have many long term employees who knew customers by name and actually knew the value of great customer service.

The opening hours on the website and on the sign do not correspond to reality. I arrived at the store several times after midnight and it was closed all the time. You should update the hours on your website and store doors.

Why is the new night manager mistreating their senior employees? A senior employee said hello to a reoccurring customer. The young manager walks up and yells at this employee to hurry up and finish stocking. The senior employee makes the store welcoming with their smile and happy interaction with customers. This employee remembers our name and makes everyone feel like they’re part of the neighborhood store. There’s no reason to yell at someone who is part of creating a community and making customers happy to be reoccurring customers.
It’s already bad enough that there’s only one register opened at all times, even when the line is down the aisle. Where are all the other cashiers? Why aren’t there baggers when the line is so long? Recently they have been focusing on micromanaging employees and less on encouraging customer service.

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.Came with a $100 bill note to pay for my groceries this morning and the cashier (a white fat blonde hair girl) told me there's no change, like what the hell?♀️what a terrible answer?♂️i asked her to go get some change but i think she was just lazy to go get the change from her co-workers (other cashiers) or from her supervisors?♂️but she kept on saying"no i can't do anything bout it",Jesus Christ, she doesn't wanna help at all?♂️And when i left the counter she called me saying "oh i have change here?♂️ Try to treat people equally, no matter what they look like or who they are.

I have never had such a terrible Safeway sandwich before in my life. This Safeway has won the award from me. All the veggies were old and nasty, the bread looked like it was all sat on and flat. The sandwich maker Jerold got mustard everywhere, like literally everywhere. All over every layer of wrappers around my sandwich and all over himself and the table. Everything was sloppy and just not put together. The store also doesn't have self checkout? Only a few lanes are open and get backed up very quickly. Stay away!!!
