they never help me with anything, I have been homeless in redwood City for over a decade and will most likely die on the streets

Dehumanizing experience. Staff who had experienced homelessness had zero sensitivity to clients

The staff and counselors at this shelter have been exceptionally kind and accommodating to me. I was here not even a whole week before I had my lifetime housing voucher! Partially due to the fact that I am terminally ill with a short life expectancy. Nonetheless, I've never been accepted or treated with as much compassion as I have at this shelter. The kindness and empathy I've received is un parallel.

In the woman only portion of the shelter it's run like you are a prisoner. The Ladies in charge are the guards, they are rude and demeaning. You have to sleep at 10pm and wake at 6am. You can't use the phone in the building.

Staff happened to mistake a combination of physical disability and the air quality implications of fact that the USA is basically Mordor for a suicide attempt. They somehow thought that someone could somehow try to kill themselves by taping over only the mouth, which to say the least involved an assumption about nasal congestion. They called police and involuntary committed me over it. No longer a 20-something with something to prove, I was quiet and subject to this I was a model prisoner. Staff in San Mateo soon realized the mistake and released ("discharged" in the medical air they like to pilfer from the physicians) me before the 72 hours were up.Later when I tried to get back in there may have been a miscommunication due to the indicated issue. In any case they ran me out of there. It was the wrong place for me to be anyway.Otherwise it's pretty good for the USA. Inside it's clean and dry and there's plenty of free food. All told, staff know more about behaviors such as eating and provisioning than about behaviors such as breathing or trying to kill. So if you're hard up for free food and shelter in the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula and you can breathe its air properly, it's an option.

What was supposed to be the most traumatic and terrifying part of my life ended up being the best year of my life thanks to the wonderful staff of the Maple Street Shelter. They're very professional and caring. BUT " YOU " GOT TO DO YOUR PART!

Helpful people. Has to be a tough job but there are at least 3 individuals that eased my mind about taking my son there, and he was there for a short time as his needs allowed for a fast transition.

As far as being a shelter it is one of the better ones that I've visited. It is clean, run very efficiently, has a somewhat attentive staff, with certain staff being aggressively attentive, almost hostile. Apart from what's expected or needed as a shelter, there seems to be an undercurrent of some other kind of agenda and that is what disturbs me about the place.
