Went on a tour today with a group of senior HS students. The campus is beautiful, the class sizes are 1:13 average, the tour guide and admission folks are definitely doing their scripted jobs. The ONE problem I had was a blatant attempt to misguide people. Several students in our group wanted to become nurses. I heard the guide mention at least twice that you could be a nursing major there . NO, that is a lie, you cannot create your own nursing degree at a school that does not offer a nursing program. She then explained you could take a route as a Biology major to become a nurse. Also very incorrect. The pre req's are very different as most Bio majors have the hopes of medical school. The Nursing pre req's are far less intense than a Bio major. Very misleading and it was apparent that these guides are TOLD to make people believe they can create their own major if they don't see it listed. Sheesh, stick to what you're good at UofR and don't lie to people. This place produces many wonderful teachers, business majors etc. why the need to lie to get admissions? You could sense the whole thing was so scripted too. Like the guides are told, "If the parents or students say you don't have my major then convince them we can create it for them". At the cost of $70k per year, it's sad to see the deception. BTW I am an RN so I know what I'm talking about and I have a ton of friends that majored in Biology. I didn't speak up or confront anyone because I was in a group and to be honest I found the guide to be very sweet and energetic. She was doing as she was told, it was so obvious and she did it extremely well. I'm sure the school was fabulous for her major and that's amazing. Stick to the truth, don't deceive people and certainly not at the huge cost you're charging!!! The campus was like a ghost town on the weekend, downtown Redlands crime has increased. The campus is lovely however and the ratio of student to teacher is impressive. Great choice for the right student and I'm glad this happened because it's an eye opener to see what private institutions will feed you to get your money!! Glad I spent my money at a CSU and graduated with zero debt and a awesome well paying career. There's no reason to start life $200k in the whole. Even with assistance you'd be lucky to walk out of this place with under $50k in loans.

Dropped the teens off. This is a beautiful campus on 160 acres located near the downtown of Redlands. It was established in 1907 and has over 40 various programs to offer from art to chemistry. They have a 13:1 student to faculty ratio. They have over 100 student organizations. 90% of students receive financial aid. Also, it's ranked #5 in 2022-2023 edition in Best Colleges in Regional Universities West. Tuition and fees are about $54,000 per year.Overall a wonderful university to attend locally.

They enforce the mask rule for everyone but their own people. Admin, teachers and athletic department don't have to wear their masks but everyone else does and you get kicked out if you don't put it on despite CA mandates ending

Excellent school. The campus is gorgeous, faculty is well educated and classes are fair but challenging. The University is incredibly generous with their money to any student who did decent whatsoever in high school. They have a massive endowment and will readily knock your tuition down by almost half if you are a decent student. Many people are complaining that the school isn't good enough to its students, this is a flat out lie born out of personal inadequacy. The school is incredibly progressive, generous with their money to their students, and hires great professors. You will have to determine your own future at this school as advising is sparse until you choose a major, but that is my only complaint. In 2020 the president resigned, so the future monetary generosity is something I cannot guarantee will exist for future students as the president was responsible for the high endowment.

Amazing, life changing University. The campus is beautiful, faculty is top notch and the coaches are role models. I graduated in 2008 and my time at the University of Redlands set me up for a wonderful career and life. Even 12 years after leaving Redlands, the friends and coaches I met at the University are like family.

I am a proud 1993 alum of the University of Redlands. My educational experience at Redlands was wonderful - small classes were taught by caring professors, I made lifelong friends, and I grew through many opportunities beyond the classroom. There are countless great memories, and one highlight that stands out was studying abroad for a semester in Salzburg, Austria. Och Tamale!

I am a proud UofR alum! This school cultivates a strong learning environment through its supportive faculty and staff, commitment to community outreach, and unwavering dedication to student success. To this day, 4 years post-graduation, my professors at the UofR still check in with me. I can honestly say I wouldn't be in medical school if it weren't for their guidance and continuous mentorship.

Haunted as f**** racist as f**** and expensive as f**** I attended the Johnston program for one semester. I have never been more uncomfortable in my life than being at this school. I was 22 transferring in, they would not allow me to live off campus. You live on campus (forced) pay for a s*** form, you're forced to buy a meal plan (I have a bunch of food allergies so I ended up giving the school over 3k which I couldn't get back when most of it went unused. Spent 40k for one semester, transferred and none of my credits transferred with me. My courses were considered "trade courses" due to the Johnston program having 0 legitimacy. If you do end up at Redlands, know it is extremely haunted. Technically the whole town.

I loved going to school at the U of R. I got a wonderful education, met the love of my life and some of my best friends. The school is just big enough so you don't feel suffocated but small enough so you can say "hi" to your friends on the way to class. Once you arrive at class the professors are wonderful and extremely accessible. The campus is beautiful and the Greek life is so much fun. I really loved my time at Redlands and owe much of my current success to the lessons I learned there.

As a recent Alumni of the class of 2019, I have had some time to reflect on my experiences at the University of Redlands. I personally would not recommend it to students especially POCS as I cannot speak for BIPOCS. The first issue is that; while yes, you do get a decent scholarship you are also faced with a very large sum of money indicative of a PWI (Private White Institution) and with yearly increases to the tuition cost. While some might argue that this annual increase is normal for schooling, many people I know have been unable to afford to continue to go to the school/especially at critical points in their education with no increase in support from the school. Given that the majority of the population is white, unless you have grown up in a extremely dominate Caucasian demographic it is highly likely you will feel uncomfortable in most public spaces. CDI (the Center for Diversity and Inclusion) is extremely underfunded. Most of the sports teams as well are again primarily white, which is uncomfortable and can create stress and other problems for POC athletes. In regards to recent events with BLM and the safety and well-being of BIPOC students; the administration has been found to be sorely lacking. I am not saying it is impossible to find friends and kinship at this school as a POC. However, it does come at a cost. The administration does not ultimately care for you and the environment created by not addressing misogynoir and misogyny as well as racism whether large or micro means that it can take a devastating toll on your mental and physical well-being. I urge you to look towards schools that are actively taking a stand with students on issues such as BLM, mental health, and other social issues.
