These guys corrected a product that I had ordered outside of the return window. I wasn't asking for them to do that, they just did it on their own accord. Fantastic customer service. Will be ordering again!

I bought an engine built by Steve at Wolfgang International. Cam, stroker kit, dual Webers, headers, large bore cylinder heads and pistons, large alternator, deep sump oil pan, external oil cooler, external oil filter, competition clutch assy, and everything else you could think of. It was installed in a 1963 Beetle that was body-off restored with every part replaced and ordered through Wolfgang International. I then put about 1,500 local miles on this new engine before taking it 2700 miles across country. Approximately 12 hours a day for four days days I ran that engine 3200 to 3400 rpm on an Interstate hwy, sometimes briefly getting up to 4000 rpm while easily passing everything else on the road that wasn't doing at least 65mph. I stopped only for gas and quick meals. I slept in the car. At the completion of this hard run, the valve clearances were only off by one thousandth of an inch on some valves, the twin Webers required no re-adjustments or balancing, timing was dead on, idle was dead on, sparkplugs burned cleanly. The engine used absolutely no oil, nor did it leak any oil. After this brutal run, all I had to do was change the oil using the special oil that Wolfgang recommends and sells, and clean out the external oil filter assembly that Wolfgang sold me. I beat that engine for days in weather ranging from 34 to 98 degrees, but the oil temperature never exceeded 170 degrees. In one State I climbed a 4000 ft mountain and never had to take it out of 4th gear, easily passing slower cars by simply giving it the gas while listening to the engine roar as the hi-performance camshaft came alive around 3200 rpm.
Show me another VW engine that can be hammered like this and still run like new. You can't. If you want a rebuilt VW engine that runs reliably and strong, buy it from Steve at Wolfgang International.

Wolfgang International is a great shop. Steve and his staff got my bug running great. They really went above and beyond to make sure everything was right the first time, and they have a huge inventory of classic air-cooled VW parts and accessories. I will be coming back to them for parts and service.

Great shop for anything VW before the 1980's. Extremely helpful staff. The 1980's stuff is hit or miss, they can order parts for Vanagons if their suppliers carry what you need.

Nice place, friendly service, a lot of cool stuff for classic bug enthusiasts. If they wore masks, they'd easily get a five star review.
