SPEC is the best eye doctor I have ever been to and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wears glasses or contacts. Dr. Janet and Dr. Curtis are thorough, highly knowledgeable and took a lot of time to dial in my script, offer new contact lens options, explain how my eye was working and what I could do to improve my eye health. They have a full suite of imaging technology that was able to highlight some issues I didn't know I had. The entire staff is helpful, friendly and efficient, 10/10! The team at SPEC has set a high bar for how a practice should run.

They kept giving me the run around instead of telling me they denied service disguised as a "recommendation." to go somewhere else...due to not having an interpreter instead of just saying so. It is not their job to find it interpreter, but it is to have clear communication. A family member was willing to interpret Just not in the day offered and there was miscommunication on that. If it were just a recommendation I would have still been able to make an appointment for a standard eye check up. Regardless if I had said that I had a suspicion the pt could of had glaucoma or cataracts. My opinion is not professional and I should not be denied a standard checkup for my assumption on the problem. Yet they won't book me even tho they gave me appointment time frames earlier today.i didn't book any of the appointments because I needed to confirm whichone of those dates and times worked for the patient. when I called back to make the appointment is when the "recommendations" started and wasn't able to book anymore. I understand the reasoning for the " Recommendation" was because they couldn't find an interpreter but I found one for them. And secondly that I had mentioned cataracts or glaucom but Regardless of my concerns I should still be able to book a standard eye exam. The reason I'm giving a one star is because of their lack of clear communication. I would have preferred if they just told me that I came off rude from all the questions i asked (i am located in a different state so things are done different)ik i had alot of questions rather than the reasons given.

I had been a patient for years....clear back to the original Dr. Nystrom and Dr. Goedert days. Janice in the front is a treasure. Dr. Janet Newcomb is pleasant and adequate... and the costs for products and services is expensive. Chris in the back seems to have become a little too rude and comfortable in her tech position and forgotten about customer service.... Chris will certainly let you know if she feels that you are an inconvenience to her. ... I have move to Dr. Davis with "BLINK" located on Eureka Way just up the street and I am extremely happy with their pleasant demeanor and customer service. Steven Frost

Called to make an appointment as new patient and being I was paying cash they wanted my health insurance info to bill my health insurance directly, I told the lady I am paying cash for my eye exam and said they still bill my health insurance and I pay direct. They would not accept me as a cash payer. ?.

Expect top-quality service at this Redding business. Before a two-month international trip I had an eye appointment and they were able to squeeze me in. It turned out that what I needed was neurolenses. Dr Newcomb to time to carefully examine my eyes and with new state-of-the-art devices, explained why I needed the change. I was a bit nervous about getting the prescription filled and glasses in hand before my departure, but this place came through for me for which I'm very grateful. We were in a sunny bright country and my progressive, transitions were just what I needed.

Excellent service. Both doctors (Curtis and his wife Janet) do a thorough, quality examination. They take the time with you, to listen, and make sure your eyes are taken care of. Staff is excellent. I want to thank Shawna in the eye glasses department for going above and beyond in assisting me with my insurance claims. Please give her a raise.

I have gone here for years. The doctors are great, as well as the staff. However, I will not go back until they take better precautions concerning Covid-19. Although they have plexiglass windows at the front desk, the workers behind the desks do not wear masks. Really? As if virus particulate in the air can't be transmitted around or above this glass shield? Also, those working in the back wear a mask when coming to the front areas, but as soon as they go back through the threshold, they remove their masks. Really? Then we have the folks sitting in the waiting room. All are wearing masks, but when my wife visited recently, several of these people wore those masks with their noses completely exposed. That's like fitting a diaper around a baby's knees. Unless these quasi-mask wearers are all mouth breathers, they are spewing their unfiltered breath into the air of a rather small room. And no one is telling them to fit their masks properly. So, if your politics allows you to ignore science, you will have no problem. But if you believe that Covid-19 is a problem (check out our rising figures and recent rise in deaths in Shasta County), then I'd wait until, either this Office starts getting more serious about the wearing of masks, or we finally get a safe vaccine.
