These guys were great! They showed up on a holiday at 8am, and worked so hard! They took great care in keeping the house clean, floors in perfect condition, and unloaded the truck with great care. They perfectly reassembled everything, and even offered to come back and help as we unpacked!

My husband and I have probably moved over 20 times, when employed, together and separately. We have had experience with all the major movers, NONE are as caring, competent and efficient as Hemsted. I highly recommend them. We have Stickley and Thos Moser furniture. I was truly worried about the Moser since we acquired after last move. In perfect condition, even the lounger which I expect was a challenge.

The salesman was helpful and facilitated his part of the move very well. The driver on the van was arrogant. He did not invite me to observe as he did the inventory, which was illegible and virtually impossible to read before signing. His crew broke my desk and then he said the problem was that the desk was "overloaded". It contained 20 empty file folders and a stapler. At delivery the driver left without reassembling what he had taken apart, broke a piece off my storage cabinet and never even mentioned it. Then the company said they could not get help to come and reassemble my stuff, but that if I hired someone they would reimburse me. -- And as for the damage, they said they don't handle that and I would have to contact the national office of North American Van Lines so seek relief on that issue. Bottom line is three pieces of furniture damaged, two of which need to be replaced. One piece whose destiny is yet to be determined. This company needs help! But they won't get my business any time soon.

Excellent service and communications. Our “stuff “ was stored for 5 1/2 months. When delivered everything was clean and undamaged. The movers are calm and accommodating. I would give 10 stars, if I could.

I stopped in to buy boxes. I bought 10 medium and 10 small boxes. They charged 5% extra if you use a credit card. They charged me $90 for 20 boxes. So over priced. Unbelievable!

Packing was lousy. Most of the boxes were mislabeled. Many items were broken, computer and tv cables missing along with furniture and bed hardware. They are totally nonresponsive to my emails and phone calls. I have the direct cell number for my rep; when I call it I always get mailbox is full. It proves that the cheapest are not always the best, even though this is a national mover. This has been a very bad experience moving from California to Louisiana.

Don't call Hemsteds as they will not show up at the appointed time. They won't even call you to tell you they will be hours late. If they are irresponsible to merely show up when they promise to show up, then we don't want to trust our life treasures with them. You shouldn't either.
