We were towed here last night. We slept in our truck as Red Bluff had absolutely no vacancies as the fire crews have a base camp here. Luckily for us Kupers opens at 6:30 am. The kind woman that opened up let us in early for coffee and the couch was very comfortable. Our starter was bad. They had us back on the road to Oregon by 8:29 am. Stellar customer service prices are very fair. I’d definitely return for car service.

We’ve been to Kuper’s multiple times over the years but it’s been SO nice seeing them at their new location! I love the little dog bar and it’s been nice being able to have my dog wait with me. Their shuttle service is also SO freakin handy and so appreciated. This last time Sal helped us out when the AC konked in my truck and as always it was great service and explanations of what was needed.
They’re truly one of the most honest mechanics I’ve ever met, and it’s a running joke in our family that we can’t leave the area since we found a good one

What a great local business! I came in needing an Uber vehicle inspection and an oil change and they were able to get me in and out super fast! They have a very clean and welcoming customer lounge area. I highly recommend Kuper’s!

Kuper's treated me very well. The battery in my 2006 Toyota Tundra kept dying repeatedly every 2 to 3 days. My OBD2 scanner threw a cascade of error codes strongly implying a parasitic draw that was "brake system adjacent." I checked every fuse and switch, couldn't find the problem. Jump starting the truck and letting the alternator bring the battery back to life implied that the alternator was not the problem. I replaced the battery and the problem seemed to vanish. Got on the road and while driving 70 mph down I-5, the engine quit running without warning, the radio quit, but the dash lights stayed on, and the battery icon lit up.
I was forced to have it towed. The closest shop was Kuper's. I am glad I ended up at their shop. They diagnosed the problem I couldn't even see. To my surprise, the problem was not directly electrical. One of the camshaft oil seals had failed, spraying oil onto the alternator, which slowly, but eventually murdered it. Replacing the camshaft seals meant that most of the front and top of the motor had to be torn apart, including the camshafts, in order to replace the seals. Everything has to go back perfectly or the camshaft gears would be destroyed upon starting the motor.
When I picked up the truck, my hope that they did the job right was fulfilled when Cisco, my mechanic, came to the front desk to show me a video he shot of how carefully and cleanly he re-installed the new camshaft seals. I was quite pleased that he wanted to brag about his work and take pride in how well he did.
I have to mention how things going wrong have motivated me to praise Kuper's even more.
1. I was out of contact when Kuper's realized that I had to be contacted to approve a sensible set of ancillary work. They could have delayed repairs until I approved the extra $400 necessary, or just done a less perfect job. I have to credit Sal, the customer service counterman, for taking a big chance on me, and ordered the work to be done without my approval, even though that meant that I could, by legal right, refuse to pay for all the parts and labor he had committed his team to do. I'm glad he trusted me not to cheat them out of the money I would be morally obliged to pay them even if I was legally immune. I paid with pleasure.
2. Kuper's gave me a loaner car, no charge, all I had to do was bring it back with a full tank of gas.
3. Kuper's gave me a warranty, in writing.
4. THE REPAIRS FAILED! By the time I drove my truck home, the battery icon on the dash lit up, and I thought I had another oil leak. When I called them to report the problem they apologized and asked me to bring the truck back. To Kuper's CREDIT, when I told them about the failure, they listened attentively to all the "signs and symptoms" that I wanted them to pay attention to, and they did not get the least bit defensive. They said they would re-examine all their work, especially with respect to my input on the matter. Turned out that the brand new high-end Bosch alternator had died of "infant mortality." There was no oil leak as I had suspected, and so they installed another alternator. Also I got the same loaner car back for the duration of the warranty work. No charges whatsoever. I understand that the bad part was not Kuper's fault. What pleased me is that when Kuper's questioned me about what went wrong, I could tell that they weren't interrogating me in order to find some way to blame me, and get out of hot water, rather, they were clearly determined to figure out what had gone wrong, and kept an open mind, including the possibility that they errored. Cisco, the mechanic, was visibly heartbroken and yet he had the presence of mind to thank me for not getting angry at them. So did Sal, the customer rep. Nice.
5. In the middle of the repairs, I asked them to take the slack out of the parking brake, and, to smog

Used to be a good shop. I paid $140 for a diagnostic. They quoted me 6 hours for a 3 hour job. So I found a more honest shop to do the work and it turns out, kupers misdiagnosed my car. They were going to charge me over $1000 for a job that was not the issue. Never going back.

If you want quality work that’s going to last, I can’t recommend any shop other than KUPERS AUTOMOTIVE in Red Bluff CA. Their service and warranty is second to none.

Our car starting breaking down on the first day of a long trip up I5. Alex was a total pro: he diagnosed the problem quickly, explained it to me clearly (showed me on the car + a printout of the diagnostics), got it fixed right, and had us on our way. We finished our road trip safely and relaxed. Capable, honest, & fair, Kuper’s deserves the highest rating.

I was very happy to find this place while traveling to rough during a heat wave and having ac issues- the only complaint would be communication- I spent half a day to get everything checked out and was told if I came first thing in the am they should be able to finish it in the am…. 10 hours later yes work complete and works but feel mis led in their time estimates - Sal was apologetic but apologies don’t mean much when you are stuck!
They were very kind in offering rides etc and let me and my puppies stay on their eating area on such a hot day but I would have preferred a more up front honest approach to how long it was going to take.
