Had problem with drained battery on a 2016 Honda CRV. Bought the battery new at Poway Honda about a year ago. Took the vehicle to Poway Honda to have it replaced under warranty since it is a100-month battery. First time, a service dept person came out with a portable tester and said nothing wrong with the battery and to bring the car back for further tests.
Brought the car back for same problem a few days later, and a service advisor said to leave the car for tests. I asked what test will be done since they already did some few days ago? He said a technician will use other equipments. I asked for the cost of same result comes out? $98 he said.
Contacted Master Auto in Poway for opinion and possible a second test. Ray said bring the car over. He went thru the battery tests and said it seems to be ok.
The battery has same problem again. Talk to Poway Honda service dept on the phone, and that person tried to give a run around of the warranty issue, and when pressed he said he has to talk to someone in the shop about the labor warranty. He said to bring the car for a service writeup, and again $98 if they come up with nothing. Did some search on Google and found that Honda was sued in a class action for drained battery problems.
Call Master Automotive again, and Ray said to bring it over for more tests. He checked the condition of the battery, cranking capacity, alternator charging current to make sure of function in charging. The test print out stated '360/500 cranking amp, voltage 12.29 volts. Your battery performance has started to declined and may fail to start your vehicle. Consider replacing your battery before it is exposed to temperature extreme'.
A 100-month battery declined after 1 year? And Poway Honda does not care.
Ray also gave me phone number of an auto electric shop for possible further test. All that as goodwill for future business.
Thank you very much.
Don't buy battery from Poway Honda. I made that mistake, it will not happen again.

I could not say better things about Ray's work and this business. I was so relieved at how honest he was. He charged me half of what I was quoted for brakes at another mechanic, made sure everything looked good and then topped off my fluids and checked my tires completely free. Super helpful, kind, honest.I was in California on vacation when my car died. The guys at Master Automotive told me that they don't do the type of repairs that were needed but referred me to an honest, efficient mechanic that helped me.It was so refreshing to deal with them.

I stopped by for a quick visit. My engine light turned on, and I needed some advice. The mechanic on hand was very nice, and took the time to explain to me some of the issues I was having and their potential fixes. He never once tried to sell me unnecessary repairs to get some money out of me. He made a quick fix that wasn't expensive and sent me on my way. I couldn't have been happier with my first experience here. I'm definitely going back to Master Automotive for any future car needs.

They did the job, however know that this is a 'no frills' automotive place. There's really no parking to speak of, I pulled up right in front of the lifts when I arrived and when I left, someone was waiting for my space. Don't expect a lounge with a couch, coffee, water, TV, snacks, magazines, a bathroom or kids' toys. There are 4 high garden chairs with ripped cushions with a small overhang, so you're exposed to heat or cold. There's a cafe next door or Lowe's across the street you can wander. It's probably better to be dropped off by a friend or be picked up by a ride-share after you've dropped your car off. There's no texting or web presence when making the appointment. Very informal, no signing an estimate beforehand. Friendly enough, although when I dropped it off, the man kept referring to 'a leak' and I said twice that I wasn't bringing it in for a leak. Quick service. Price was about what my dealer was going to charge, but I came here as it was closer and wanted to try somewhere different. Definitely a simpler experience than a dealer -- no surveys or annoying upselling or follow-up e-mails. I gave 5 stars as they obviously have a lot of fans and ultimately did what I came for in a timely manner and I was on my way.

Been coming here for a decade or more. 1st time was when a dealer told me it would cost $700 just to find out what the problem was. I took it to Master for a 2nd opinion only to discover it was a $50 part and they didn’t even charge me the labor it was so easy. Literally the most honest auto shop and mechanics I’ve ever encountered.
