Customer Service is incredibly poor. It appears to be prevalent since COVID. There is no reason these employees can’t be more helpful other than blatant laziness, it is unfortunate.
Do not recommend this Chase location.

Find another bank. Experienced the following multiple times over the past two years: Never there in Portola Valley - Called multiple times and stopped in multiple times to talk to a banker. Always "out to lunch" on different days, hours, etc. Just never there and I gave up after 12 visits; Language issues in Portola Valley - Businesses should have multilingual staff, but those who answer the phone should be able to speak basic English. Leaving a simple message with my name and phone number took too long and was frustrating; No customer "service" - Getting through on the 800 number is painful (e.g., I cannot enter account data when I'm on the road and need to get through to a human being because my banking question didn't fit into the limited options on the keypad) and it's hard to finally reach someone. On many occasions when I did get through after 20 minutes on hold I was transferred from rep to rep and number to number (and sometimes the wrong number) with very basic, simple banking questions. Chase branding is great, but I have no confidence in staff and management; and Staff and management not equipped - Wasn't able to meet with someone in person and those on the phone didn't have answers to very simple banking questions. They simply followed scripts that provided no answers. Looking for a new bank. Chase needs to change its "excellent customer service" recorded message and actually provide service, any service.

Surprised this branch has even a 2 1/2 star rating. Went there to open an account. 1 PM on a weekday. Was told by the teller no bankers were available. Yet the manager whose office is to the left when you walk in was sitting reading some papers. The branch manager is not available for a new customer? We are going elsewhere. If this is the way Chase treats new customers, we can imagine the treatment if we made the mistake of coming a customer. Funniest part, Portola Valley is one of the wealthiest towns in the country and yet Chase won't even take money from potential customers there. We told all our friends about it. Nothing like cocktail chat and dinner parties to you help keep your friends from making the mistake of becoming a Chase customer.

Friendly, local branch. Nice to have a bank in our small town.
