My sister and I help my 85-year-old mom with all of her shopping banking etc. Bank of the Sierra has been the worst to work with us with my mom. One of us is on the account with her so that it could be easy for us to handle anything that needs to be done with the account and they have made us drag my 85 year old mom into the bank several times to try to clean up a mess that they actually created from the beginning but not recommend banking here at all very unhappy customer

Was with this bank all through high school and then came back once my daughter was born to open her an account. Always friendly and helpful. Love the texts for fraud alerts and how quick the service is. No issues when I call for help and when I do, it is always in a quick efficient manner. Also very dog friendly!

Bank of the sierra will Not take care of their customers. I had an unauthorized charge of 75 dollars & the bank could not tell me Any info of what it was for. I had no subscriptions so it was alarming. I asked for a new card, changed all my passwords, Bank got my money back. THEN, they charged me again for the $75 with No Warning! I called and got the run around, No resolve! Could not tell me why I was charged again. Never going back to this bank. Steer clear.

Okay, unless you need things to go well. 1) For years we paid most bills with the bank's bill pay feature. We put everything on one credit card so that bill was always over $2,500 and frequently over $4,000 and we paid it off in full each month. Then the bank told us our bill pay limit would be $1,600 per transaction and $3,200 per day - despite a decade of paying bills over that amount. So, now, if the bill was over $1,600 we had to send them two payments, and if over $4,800 we had to send them three payments, and if it was over $3,200 we had to send the payments on different days so the multiple payments to a creditor that would total the amount due that month. We asked for an explanation - none was given. Ridiculous. We went to a more sophisiticated bank. 2) We applied for a HELOC. Our FICO in 830 range, no debt, and substantial net monthly income. We told the bank that the loan ($250,000) was to build a second home on our property for daughter. We were told there would be no problem with that, and were approved subject to an appraisal. The appraisal on our mortgage free home came in at $675,000. Then the bank called and said they could not approve the loan because it was to build a second home - WE TOLD THEM THAT WHEN WE APPLIED. And the loan info we received when we applied contained no such restriction, or any restrictions at all! We had to start all over with another lender but because of the time delay our building costs increased $22,000 due to lumber price increases. Again, we went to a more professional and competent bank.

Horrible bank, I switched over from Chase because they did not have one in Porterville thinking it would've been a good idea, but this bank is trash they do nothing to help you they're so unhelpful they wouldn't even let me do a stop payment on an on authorized charge and they told me it was going to take 90 days to do so so guess who had to pay the overdraft fees ridiculous would not recommend

Zero customer loyalty! Horrible customer service. They act like they are doing you a favor by holding you money. One would think a local bank would be community oriented.

Incompetence of the highest order. If you need anything more than changing a 20 dollar bill go elsewhere.

As many other people have stated in their reviews of this bank, bank of Sierra is a horrible bank. I had automatic payments coming out of my account for the city water bill. The bank informed everyone of a mistake the water company double charged all of thier customers and they were well informed. They then charged me overdraft fees for all the little purchases before the amount was credited back and when I called to resolve the issue, they said there was nothing they could do and that I needed to contact the water company. They posted it on the account that I recieved the credit before the other purchases when that was false. They are money hungry and will do whatever they can to take from customers.

I had used this bank for two previous signature loans with no problem, the latest for $9000, which I paid off as agreed, like the first one. I was happy with the bank, and thinking I had a dependable line of credit, I offered to buy a particular vehicle I had had my heart set on for many years from a gentleman and gave him my word that I would have the money in two days, so he held it for me. I immediately went to the bank and filled out an application for a signature loan for $7000, having paid off my previous loans entirely and owing no money to the bank. They called me the next day to tell me the loan had been approved, so I called the gentleman and told him I would pick up his vehicle the next morning. Just as I was preparing to rent a trailer and drive a couple hundred miles to pick up the vehicle, the bank called to tell me the loan had been disapproved. I was dumfounded. With great disappointment, I immediately called the gentleman to inform him that I did not have the money. This was humiliating because I had given him my word and my word is my bond. After the weekend had passed, the bank called again to tell me my loan had been approved. Unfortunately, the vehicle had been sold to another party. I informed the bank that I was very unhappy with their failure to keep their word, and that I would be transferring my account to another local bank that I could rely on. Let this be a warning, if you like being ______ in the ___ by your bank, Bank of the Seirra is for you. Ex-customer.

Will not verify cashiers checks over the phone. Even a manager would not make an exception. This financial institution needs to spend some time and reevaluate the risk of this policy. In the end it is a disservice to their own customers who bought the check from them. Some please ask why do you do this? Hopefully its not because that's they way its always been done .

I'm only giving it a 1 star because I have to. It should be a zero. Not at all happy with this bank. We have had issues throughout our years with this bank but tried to stick it out. Luckily we will be moving soon and switching banks anyway, but they have gone too far. Their fees are ridiculous. We recently had someone write a check to us, the check bounced AND WE GET CHARGED! The person who wrote the check was closing their account and waited for us to tell them that it had cleared. According to the bank, it posted and cleared so we gave them the go ahead. Apparently the bank lied. This is not our fault but we get punished. Terrible policies. This is not the only issue you will have with this bank! They do not care about you in anyway. Only about how they can get more money out of you!
