AND ANOTHER hidden secret! Wendy, you are the reason I fell in love with German Glass Glitter. I was a little girl watching you on Martha Stewart when I saw you run your hand through 50 pounds of German Glass glitter. I never forgot that. You created a magical memory for a little girl, and I believe that memory is now embedded in my DNA forever. Thank you. I now only use German glitter in my making. Your store is beautifully curated! It truly is a magical Theatre of Dreams. It is a maximistas dream of color, texture, and sensory delight. You can’t leave this place disappointed or empty handed. One must purchase a lovely token in order to feel complete before leaving. Enjoy the adventure in traveling to Port Costa. Who knew this was even here? I will be back!

I love visiting the Theatre of Dreams. It’s always a unique experience. My mom, daughter and I have turned it into an annual outing. The whimsical, creative and spooky art is so fun and one-of-kind.

Port Costa is a true Bay Area secret hidden in plain sight. Fewer than 200 people live here, yet it's just minutes away from well-developed suburbs like Concord and Walnut Creek. Its "downtown" features several vintage buildings from the 1800s that host a handful businesses, including this whimsical gift shop. It's a showcase for artist Wendy Addison and her creations, which include ornaments, toys, puppets, books, prints, and cards. One of her tools is a printing press that dates to 1910, with the result being products that match the old-fashioned, vintage atmosphere and setting of this building. The offerings rotate by season, so there should be something new and interesting each time you visit. When I stopped by during the holidays - on a rare day (Saturday) in which it was open - the store was a veritable Christmas wonderland. Worth checking out in addition to the Bull Valley Roadhouse directly across the street. Thanks Yelpers for yet another amazing find!

Wendy is one of the true visionaries of our time -- and has pioneered beautiful beautiful creations for decades. Always ahead of her time with materials she's unearthed from old factories in Germany, etc. etc. etc. She's the star of the New York gift show! She does all the work for us by not only creating her beautiful items, but bringing other beautiful creations her eye spots along the way -- one of a kind treasures from around the world. Many copy her -- but there's only one Wendy! People who truly know and appreciate the difference between visionaries and followers bow to her! I can't believe we get to make a visit to such a beautiful town and get rewarded by seeing what she's doing. Thank you so much!

I am always in support of small businesses. We walked 4 miles to port costa today. Had lunch and decided to look in shops. Everything was handmade by owner and fairly expensive. I wanted to support her work so looked for something small I could carry on the 4 mi walk home. I went to the register with two items costing $8. I pulled out my debit card and the lady said "we only take cards for $20 or more. Do you have cash?" "No, I walked here" I replied. (Meaning I wasn't planning to spend my hard earned money but thought I would support your small business) In a mocking tone she said "you don't carry cash? You shouldn't leave the house without cash" I left my $8 items and she let me walk out the door. I could have easily grabbed something else to meet her $20 requirement but it was clear she didn't need my money. I will be sure never to patronize this small business. Words are powerful miss small business owner, you could have chosen more encouraging words and I would have bought items as well as been back for gifts when I had a car and didn't walk with not many ways to carry a lot home. Why were you so rude to me? Did you not need my business that bad? You out price your homemade items so much that I was not worth it to you? My husband reminded me that she did this for fun. She doesn't care about my money. It is clear that she lacks retail experience and her shop is open one day a week for a few hours so there you go. So sad, miss owner. Do better.
